Kodėl Lietuvos kariūnai 1919 m. viduryje keitė savo pavardes?

The article writes about discussions which emerged in the mid 30s of the 20th century in the Republic of Lithuania on a possible reform of surnames. This reform would be aimed at Lithuanising surnames, since Lithuanian surnames were transformed into Polish surnames in the 17th and 18th centuries. The articles draws attention to a fact previously untouched in the historiography – a collective request submitted by 12 Lithuanian cadets to the Cabinet of Ministers of Lithuania asking to Lithuanise their surnames.
