Das Große Göldenitzer Moor bei Rostock - Nutzungs- und Vegetationswandel der letzten 200 Jahre

Abstract

Based on study of historical sources, changes in the vegetation and hydrology due to the utilization of the in former times largest raised bog in northeastern Germany are reconstructed for three time periods. Utilization began by the end of the 18th century with peat cutting by hand followed by agricultural and forestry utilization within the 19th century. However, the bog was cultivated extensively until 1950. The most intensive changes have taken place with respect to the natural waters of the bog. Earlier interpretations of the vegetation changes are corrected.
