Senriyu has a tendency to act independently of the restrictions of Haiku such as nature, zen principles, lofty style, and goal. Although Haiku and Senriyu are three-dimensional poems, they are conceptually different. Senriyu poetry is distinguished from other poetic literatures by the expressive nature of Senriyu langue related to mankind, which is created by words used by man in practice.
