Die Inschriften zu den Ludi saeculares

Abstract

Eine textkritische Edition und Übersetzung der augusteischen und severischen Inschrift zu den Ludi Saeculares von 17 v. und 204 n. Chr. Das Verständnis der stark zerstörten Texte konnten dank wichtiger neuer Lesarten verbessert werden. Zwei ausführliche Kommentare erläutern die Textkonstitution und den Ablauf dieser wichtigen öffentlichen religiösen Feste. Die Prosopographie der severischen Inschrift wurde dank neuer Forschungsergebnisse deutlich erweitert.

Geschichte der Fragmente A und D bis M aufgearbeitet. 19 Cod. Vat. lat. 6038 f. 78. 20 Als 1890 die Fragmente der augusteischen Spiele zum Vorschein kamen, sah man, dass

eines der zwei seit dem 16. Jahrhundert bekannten Fragmente (E) an einer Bruchstelle

bezogen sich unzweifelhaft auf die ludi saeculares des Jahres 17 v. Chr. Mommsen

hatte bereits vor dem großen Fund von 1890 eine Zugehörigkeit der beiden Fragmente

zu einem möglichen inschriftlichen commentarium des Jahres 17 v. Chr. entschieden

abgelehnt, als er diese beiden Fragmente 1876 in das CIL aufnahm. Er glaubte, dass
