Abstract

The purpose of this work is to present the methods of the Nazi practices and persecutions against the Roma. For the theoretical framework of this paper, eugenics and social Darwinism are analyzed as a vestibule of ideological extremism, which prevailed before and during National Socialism. In addition, the concentration camps are being studied as places of crimes, based on racial racism, biopolitics and death-politics. We focus on the practices and persecutions that took place during the period 1933-1945 in Germany and Austria. Additionally, we go through the Auschwitz – Birkenau camp and specifically, the BIIe department of it as a point of reference for the death of the Roma people. It is worth noting that the bibliography in Greek is negligible while in English, it is based on a limited research which was an essential factor for the need of further research.
