Abstract

This research aims to create a new design proposal for Greek font, based on Byzantine writing. As well as the recording and study of the design trends prevailing in the ecclesiastical area of Cyprus. Initially, the inscriptions found in the frescoes of the churches were recorded, starting from the 11th to the 18th century, and comparing the results with the design trends of the 21st century. The collection of the above data will allow us to understand the basic of the paleography and it’s features of Byzantine writing, whether there were rules in the existing writing system and whether they have been maintained or diversified over time. In addition, conducting the results will help determine the design orientation that will be applied to the new font.
