Abstract

This thesis is an attempt to investigate the new technology of three-dimensional scanners and their combined use with traditional methods, both through literature search, but also with the practical mapping application. In the context of this dissertation the cave of Ag. Georgiou, located in the area of Erimi in Limassol, imprinted using a Leica ScanStation C10 ground scanner, aiming the implementation of the terrestrial scanner lase as a tool for recording the pathology of the Cave St. George. The fact that terrestrial laser scanners can quickly and almost automatically represent three-dimensional data in a form easily recognizable by the user, makes it popular in mapping, especially in the fields of architecture and in particular cultural heritage, archaeology, etc. In contrast to the classic mapping methods, the new three-dimensional laser scanning technology offers a comprehensive mapping of the area. In this way it provides the possibility of selecting any section for the production of restoration and assessment plans. In addition, the choice of this method provides great convenience for field work but also speed, since the main part of the work is data processing. Completed
