Abstract

Este trabajo describe un curso sobre Computación Gráfica, dedicado a estudiantes de la Tecnicatura Universitaria en Emprendimientos Audiovisuales y que utilizan la Computación Gráfica y la Visualización en la exploración y presentación de sus datos. Sólo se puede asumir que tienen conocimientos básicos en operación de computadoras y ningún conocimiento de programación. El curso conjuga la enseñanza de conceptos teóricos y de aplicaciones prácticas presentadas a través de una serie de ejercicios que ofrecen desafíos crecientes para que los estudiantes aprendan a usar software comúnmente disponible para resolver problemas de modelado, rendering y animación por computadora. Al final del curso los estudiantes desarrollaron no sólo habilidades para implementar con el software actualmente disponible los conceptos teóricos adquiridos, sino también la capacidad de evaluar y decidir la aplicación de nuevo software en la materia ya que se han familiarizado con los límites y las posibilidades de la Computación Gráfica, habiendo desarrollado también un entendimiento más profundo de las posibilidades y restricciones. Dada la evolución tan dinámica que los avances tecnológicos están aportando a las Artes Gráficas, esta capacidad de actualización resulta fundamental. Este curso brinda los conceptos requeridos para entender las etapas y procedimientos que conducen tanto al diseño de una escena 3D como a una animación 3D completamente renderizadas. En el contexto de la carrera, este curso es parte del aprendizaje del gran concierto de medios digitales, incluyendo imágenes, modelado 3D y trabajos basados en tiempo, como animación 2D y 3D. Este artículo describe el contenido del curso, los desafíos que se presentaron y establece tanto las bases para analizar críticamente el trabajo artístico digital como las de discusión para el planeamiento de futuros cursos con estas características.
