    STAR measurements of v1 for identified particles for Au+Au collisions at = 200 GeV are presented. A negative v1 slope is observed for pions, protons, antiprotons and kaons (K0S) in 10-70% central collisions. For pion v1 slope, the comparison between the current result and available models (RQMD, UrQMD, AMPT, QGSM and hydro model with a tilted source) is made. In 5-30% central collisions, surprisingly sizable difference between v1 of protons and antiprotons is observed. The centrality and energy dependence of proton v1 are also presented. The charged hadron v1 for Cu+Cu collisions at = 22.4 GeV is measured and compared with results obtained previously.

    Polynesian societies have long been noted for encoding their histories in the form of oral narratives. While some narratives are clearly cosmogonic or mythological in nature, others purportedly recount the affairs of real persons, chronologically indexed to chiefly and family genealogies. Late 19th- and early 20th-century scholars such as Abraham Fornander and Te Rangi Hiroa relied upon such oral narratives to write the pre-European histories of various Polynesian societies. In the second half of the 20th century, however, archaeologists and cultural anthropologists alike have tended to dismiss the historical validity of oral narratives. Based on four case studies from Futuna, Tikopia, Niuatoputapu and Hawai'i, I reassess the linkages between oral narratives and the archaeological record, finding that in all cases there is strong evidence to support the view that the traditional narratives relate to real persons and events. Such traditional narratives typically do not extend farther back in time than three to four centuries, but for these later time periods they offer an invaluable resource - an indigenous perspective on island histories that complements and augments the empirical archaeological record.

    In the present paper we study thin films from poly(N,N-dimethyl acrylamide)-poly(ethylene oxide) (PDMAA/PEO) copolymers of different composition and structure in order to implement them as sensitive media for optical indicators for humidity. PDMAA/PEO di- and triblock copolymers were synthesized via redox polymerization in aqueous media. Thin films were deposited on silicon substrates by spin coating method using polymers solutions with appropriate concentrations. Refractive index, extinction coefficient and thickness of the films are calculated from reflectance spectra of the films deposited on silicon substrates using non-linear curve fitting method. Sensing properties of the films were tested by films exposure to different humidity levels followed by in-situ monitoring of the changes in the optical properties. The influence of the polymer structure and postdeposition annealing on the optical and sensing properties of the films was investigated. The potential application of selected polymers for optical sensing of humidity were demonstrated and discussed.

    We analyze several recent unsupervised constituency parsing models, which are tuned with respect to the parsing $F_1$ score on the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) development set (1,700 sentences). We introduce strong baselines for them, by training an existing supervised parsing model (Kitaev and Klein, 2018) on the same labeled examples they access. When training on the 1,700 examples, or even when using only 50 examples for training and 5 for development, such a few-shot parsing approach can outperform all the unsupervised parsing methods by a significant margin. Few-shot parsing can be further improved by a simple data augmentation method and self-training. This suggests that, in order to arrive at fair conclusions, we should carefully consider the amount of labeled data used for model development. We propose two protocols for future work on unsupervised parsing: (i) use fully unsupervised criteria for hyperparameter tuning and model selection; (ii) use as few labeled examples as possible for model development, and compare to few-shot parsing trained on the same labeled examples.     The H-mode pedestal remains a critical subject for magnetic fusion energy research. Recent experimental efforts to characterize the edge pedestal, for tests of pedestal models now under development, are summarized in this report. The pedestal transport is characterized by the profiles and energy and particle fluxes through both the electron and ion channels. The flux measurements are made difficult by the short scale lengths of the pedestal and the difficulty of measuring the neutral ionization source within the pedestal. Recent results on pedestal scaling with a number of parameters are also summarized. Measurements of the pedestal scaling with the ion gyroradius, global beta, input power, shape, critical gradients, neutral density, aspect ratio, rotation, toroidal ripple and the toroidal field direction are presented. These measurements provide a strong test for emerging pedestal models as well as improve confidence of extrapolating existing experiments towards future devices. Recent work on the scaling of the H-mode power threshold is also presented.

    The Karlsruhe Tritium Neutrino Experiment (KATRIN) will perform a direct, kinematics-based measurement of the neutrino mass with a sensitivity of 200 meV (90 % C. L.), which will be reached after 3 years of measurement time. The neutrino mass is obtained by investigating the shape of the energy spectrum of tritium β-decay electrons close to the endpoint at 18.6 keV with a spectrometer of MAC-E filter type. This contribution reviews the current status of the tritium source cryostat and magnet system which is currently in its first cool-down phase. Furthermore, the next steps of the comprehensive pre-tritium measurement programme to characterise the apparatus and investigate important systematics are outlined.     Abstract 3D seismic reflection data are used to investigate the processes which have led to the development of amplitude anomalies on reflectors in the faulted, Cenozoic overburden on the Laminaria High, Northwest Shelf of Australia. Amplitude and root mean square (RMS) attributes are mapped on two reflectors (seabed and horizon H9) that were deposited synchronous with fault activity and are located adjacent to predominantly ENE-WSW striking fault traces. On the seabed, the main anomaly is located on the up-dip side of the fault trace, and is elongated parallel to the local time structure contours. These observations are consistent with the anomalies having developed in response to structurally-controlled fluid seepage along, and up-dip migration away from the fault trace. The other amplitude anomalies associated with the H9 reflector are also located adjacent to fault traces but are discordant to the local time structure contours. The latter observation is inconsistent with the migration of buoyant fluid at the present day; instead, it suggests that the anomalies may be due to cemented hardgrounds that formed due to seepage when the faults intersected the palaeo-seafloor but were subsequently buried and deformed during ongoing sedimentation and fault growth/linkage. Prominent anomalies mapped on reflectors within the pre-faulting succession (H10) are located adjacent to, and are elongated along, sub-seismic scale, NW-SE striking faults or, as in the case of a deeper horizon (H13) show no clear relationship with the faults. We conclude that there is no relationship between the occurrence of anomalies and the magnitude of throw, or the duration of activity, along the Cenozoic faults. The results suggest that whilst fluid seepage and cementation were structurally-controlled, these processes were also influenced by permeability variations that cannot be resolved by seismic interpretation methods.

    We introduce PubMedQA, a novel biomedical question answering (QA) dataset collected from PubMed abstracts. The task of PubMedQA is to answer research questions with yes/no/maybe (e.g.: Do preoperative statins reduce atrial fibrillation after coronary artery bypass grafting?) using the corresponding abstracts. PubMedQA has 1k expert-annotated, 61.2k unlabeled and 211.3k artificially generated QA instances. Each PubMedQA instance is composed of (1) a question which is either an existing research article title or derived from one, (2) a context which is the corresponding abstract without its conclusion, (3) a long answer, which is the conclusion of the abstract and, presumably, answers the research question, and (4) a yes/no/maybe answer which summarizes the conclusion. PubMedQA is the first QA dataset where reasoning over biomedical research texts, especially their quantitative contents, is required to answer the questions. Our best performing model, multi-phase fine-tuning of BioBERT with long answer bag-of-word statistics as additional supervision, achieves 68.1% accuracy, compared to single human performance of 78.0% accuracy and majority-baseline of 55.2% accuracy, leaving much room for improvement.     STAR measurements of v1 for identified particles for Au+Au collisions at = 200 GeV are presented. A negative v1 slope is observed for pions, protons, antiprotons and kaons (K0S) in 10-70% central collisions. For pion v1 slope, the comparison between the current result and available models (RQMD, UrQMD, AMPT, QGSM and hydro model with a tilted source) is made. In 5-30% central collisions, surprisingly sizable difference between v1 of protons and antiprotons is observed. The centrality and energy dependence of proton v1 are also presented. The charged hadron v1 for Cu+Cu collisions at = 22.4 GeV is measured and compared with results obtained previously.

    Polynesian societies have long been noted for encoding their histories in the form of oral narratives. While some narratives are clearly cosmogonic or mythological in nature, others purportedly recount the affairs of real persons, chronologically indexed to chiefly and family genealogies. Late 19th- and early 20th-century scholars such as Abraham Fornander and Te Rangi Hiroa relied upon such oral narratives to write the pre-European histories of various Polynesian societies. In the second half of the 20th century, however, archaeologists and cultural anthropologists alike have tended to dismiss the historical validity of oral narratives. Based on four case studies from Futuna, Tikopia, Niuatoputapu and Hawai'i, I reassess the linkages between oral narratives and the archaeological record, finding that in all cases there is strong evidence to support the view that the traditional narratives relate to real persons and events. Such traditional narratives typically do not extend farther back in time than three to four centuries, but for these later time periods they offer an invaluable resource - an indigenous perspective on island histories that complements and augments the empirical archaeological record.

    In the present paper we study thin films from poly(N,N-dimethyl acrylamide)-poly(ethylene oxide) (PDMAA/PEO) copolymers of different composition and structure in order to implement them as sensitive media for optical indicators for humidity. PDMAA/PEO di- and triblock copolymers were synthesized via redox polymerization in aqueous media. Thin films were deposited on silicon substrates by spin coating method using polymers solutions with appropriate concentrations. Refractive index, extinction coefficient and thickness of the films are calculated from reflectance spectra of the films deposited on silicon substrates using non-linear curve fitting method. Sensing properties of the films were tested by films exposure to different humidity levels followed by in-situ monitoring of the changes in the optical properties. The influence of the polymer structure and postdeposition annealing on the optical and sensing properties of the films was investigated. The potential application of selected polymers for optical sensing of humidity were demonstrated and discussed.
