Abstract

These charts visualise the tweet volume over time from user_id_str 25073877 in an archive collecting all tweets posted between 13/01/2017 05:49 and 04/11/2020 19:01:07. Times correspond to the time tag (local time of publication). In a previous version of this deposit we had only included a line chart showing the daily volume between between 01/09/18 and 01/09/20. For clarity we have now included two bar charts with yearly (2017-2020) and monthly counts (2020). The charts were produced from a complete deduplicated archive of tweets from this user ID string. The source archive includes 24,313 unique tweets, with the first tweet in archive posted 13/01/2017 05:49:34 and the last tweet in archive posted 04/11/2020 19:01:07.This user ID corresponds to a verified account from a government official and has 88,020,730 followers as of 05/11/2020 12:30 GMT.Twitter defines the content of a tweet to be of public interest if it belongs to a verified account with more than 100,000 followers that represents a government official, since it directly contributes to the understanding of a matter of public concern (Twitter, 2020).The source dataset used for this visualisaion was extracted according to Twitter’s Terms and Conditions, Privacy Policy and Service Agreement and an academic research developer account was obtained to gain permission to use the data.Every effort was made to deduplicate the entries in the archive (which would affect counts). Further deduplication and refining might be required. Even if there's some variation in the exact numbers (the Twitter API does not always reliably provide access to all tweets) we consider this provide a reliable rough indication of the tweeting volume of this user ID in this period.
