    Afaan Oromo Text to Speech Synthesis dataset is a public domain speech dataset consisting of 8,076 short audio clips of a single male speaker reading sentences collected from legitimate sources such as News Media sources, Non-fiction books, and Afaan Oromo Holy bible. A transcription and its normalized text are provided for each clip. After two weeks of the audio recording process, a total of 17 hours of recorded speech data that corresponded to a total of 8076 recorded .wav files was created.File FormatMetadata is provided in metadata.csv. This file consists of one record per line, delimited by the pipe character. The fields are:ID: this is the name of the corresponding .wav fileTranscription: words spoken by the reader (UTF-8)Normalized Transcription: transcription with numbers, ordinals, and monetary units expanded into full words (UTF-8).Each audio file is a single-channel 16-bit PCM WAV with a sample rate of 22050 Hz. This dataset contains all data and analysis scripts pertaining to the research conducted for the frontiers paper: "Using a conversational agent for thought recording as a cognitive therapy task: feasibility, content, and feedback." Following a literature review that we conducted in 2017 and 2018 on the technological state of the art of e-mental health for depression, we saw an opportunity to use technology in a more dialogical way than was being done to date. We therefore developed a conversational agent to support people in regularly recording their thoughts. This thought recording is a common technique in cognitive therapy. The cognitive approach to psychotherapy aims to change patients' maladaptive schemas, that is, overly negative views on themselves, the world, or the future. To obtain awareness of these views, they record their thought processes in situations that caused pathogenic emotional responses. We recruited 308 participants through Prolific, a crowd-sourcing platform for research participants. The participants interacted with our chatbot in two sessions, one practice session of two thought records based on scenarios and one actual session in which we asked to complete at least one personal thought record but as many additional ones as they wanted. We assessed the feasibility of completing the task with the agent, the content of the personal thought records, and whether the agent providing feedback on the content of the thought record (using natural language processing) had a positive e ect on the number of voluntarily completed thought records and participant's engagement in self-reection. We here deliver: a natural language dataset: the thoughts delineated by participants in the scenario-based and open thought records the coding of all personal thought records on their content by two independent coders: all thought records of the second session were labeled with respect to their content on the DIAMONDS and on three additional categories (COVID, Achievement/Competence, and Comprehensibility) analyses to test the hypotheses related to whether the feedback of the agent can increasemotivation to complete thought records additional materials (scenarios, qualtrics surveys, data management plan) that could assist in the replication of the study.

    Antea Group 463446.

    Antea Group projectnummer 454718. Op 18 februari 2020 voerde Antea Group Archeologie een archeologische begeleiding uit aan de Hereweg en omgeving te Bierum, in de gemeente Delfzijl. De aanleiding voor dit onderzoek is de aanleg van laagspanningskabels aan de Kerkstraat, Borgsingel, Bakkersstraat, Doctor Poelmanweg en de Hereweg. Het plangebied is onderdeel van bestemmingsplan Bierum, Losdorp, Godlinze. Voor het noordelijke gedeelte van de Kerkstraat en de kruising met de Doctor Poelmanweg is een ‘dubbelbestemming: waarde - archeologie 3’ van kracht. Voor verreweg het grootste gedeelte van het tracé geldt een ‘dubbelbestemming: archeologie – waarde 2’. Dit terrein is de dorpskern van Bierum, waarvan de bodem goed geconserveerde sporen van drie afzonderlijke, aan elkaar grenzende dorpswierden bevat. 1 De open ontgraving die archeologisch werd begeleid vond plaats in vier werkputten, waarvan twee zich buiten het oorspronkelijk geplande tracé bevonden (werkput 3 en 4). De afmetingen van de werkputten bedroegen elk zo’n 1,5 x 1,5 m op een maximale ontgravingsdiepte van 1,2 m. De werkputten bevonden zich in het trottoir van de Kerkstraat en de Borgsingel. De werkzaamheden voor dit project vonden plaats conform de KNA, versie 4.1, protocol 4004 en voldeden aan de voorop gestelde eisen in het Programma van Eisen (PvE). De drie ophogingslagen die onder de (sub)recente wegverhardingen en wegverbeteraars zijn aangetroffen stammen op zijn vroegst uit de late middeleeuwen, maar zijn waarschijnlijk jonger, vanwege de beperkte diepte tot waar is gegraven (tot zo’n 1.20 m beneden het maailveld). Er is roodbakkend en tinglazuur aardewerk aangetroffen waarmee de aangetroffen gelaagdheid (globaal) kon worden gedateerd in een periode van 1300 tot 1800. De wierdelagen die zijn aangesneden, waren vuil tot zeer vuil en donkergrijs van kleur, ook was er aardig wat afvalmateriaal in aanwezig.. Vuile ophogingslagen zijn over het algemeen een indicatie voor geleidelijke ophoging. In twee gevallen leek vuile grond en schone (natuurlijke) ondergrond in één pakket te zijn opgebracht, in korte tijd. Dit geldt voor de lagen S1001 en S1002. S1003 toonde wel de typische homogene samenstelling van een vuile wierdelaag, die vermoedelijk over langere tijd is ontstaan. Het uitgevoerde onderzoek betreft een opgraving, wat het einde betekent van de AMZ-cyclus (bijlage 2). Derhalve zijn geen nadere adviezen of waarderingen te geven. Hoewel uit onze steekproef blijkt dat de bodem veelal verstoord is in de eerste tientallen centimeters onder het maaiveld, blijkt dat wierdelagen tot de nieuwe tijd en late middeleeuwen goed geconserveerd zijn. Op basis van eerder onderzoek is de verwachting dat zich daaronder goeddeels intacte ophogings- en bewoningslagen uitstrekken die mogelijk terug gaan tot de vroegste bewoningsperiode van de wierde, aangezien de oudste sporen van bewoning in de buurt van het onderhavige plangebied zijn aangetroffen.

    Attributing the start of peat growth to an absolute timescale requires dating the bottom of peat deposits overlying mineral sediment, often called the basal peat. Peat initiation is reflected in the stratigraphy as a gradual transition from mineral sediment to increasingly organic material, up to where it is called peat. So far, varying criteria have been used to define basal peat, resulting in divergent approaches to date peat initiation. The lack of a universally applicable and quantitative definition, combined with multiple concerns that have been raised previously regarding the radiocarbon dating of peat, may result in apparent ages that are either too old or too young for the timing of peat initiation. Here, we aim to formulate updated recommendations for dating peat initiation. We provide a conceptual framework that supports the use of the organic matter (OM) gradient for a quantitative and reproducible definition of the mineral-to-peat transition (i.e., the stratigraphical range reflecting the timespan of the peat initiation process) and the layer defined as basal peat (i.e., the stratigraphical layer that is defined as the bottom of a peat deposit). Selection of dating samples is often challenging due to poor preservation of plant macrofossils in basal peat, and the representativity of humic and humin dates for the age of basal peat is uncertain. We therefore analyse the mineral-to-peat transition based on three highly detailed sequences of radiocarbon dates, including dates of plant macrofossils and the humic and humin fractions obtained from bulk samples. Our case study peatland in the Netherlands currently harbours a bog vegetation, but biostratigraphical analyses show that during peat initiation the vegetation was mesotrophic. Results show that plant macrofossils provide the most accurate age in the mineral-to-peat transition and are therefore recommendable to use for 14C dating basal peat. If these are unattainable, the humic fraction provides the best alternative and is interpreted as a terminus-ante-quem for peat initiation. The potential large age difference between dates of plant macrofossils and humic or humin dates (up to ~1700 years between macrofossil and humic ages, and with even larger differences for humins) suggests that studies reusing existing bulk dates of basal peat should take great care in data interpretation. The potentially long timespan of the peat initiation process (with medians of ~1000, ~1300 and ~1500 years within our case study peatland) demonstrates that choices regarding sampling size and resolution need to be well substantiated. We summarise our findings as a set of recommendations for dating basal peats, and advocate the widespread use of OM determination to obtain a low-cost, quantitative and reproducible definition of basal peat that eases intercomparison of studies.

Aan het Gedempte Zuiderdiep in Groningen zijn gasleidingen vervangen. Vanwege de ligging binnen een archeologisch monument, namelijk de stad Groningen, zijn de bodemingrepen uitgevoerd onder archeologische begeleiding (Opgraving – variant archeologische begeleiding, protocol 4004) door Antea Group. Dit is gebeurd in juli, oktober en november 2021. De civieltechnische ontgravingen zijn administratief onderscheiden als zestien afzonderlijke werkputten. Na het verwijderen van de verharding is de grond verwijderd door middel van een grondzuigwagen. De grootte van de werkputten varieerde van 1.1 m2 tot 16.1 m2 . Ook de ontgravingsdiepte was variabel met dieptes van 0,5 tot ruim 1,3 m onder maaiveld. Vanwege de ligging binnen de stad Groningen en binnen de zone van middeleeuwse verdedigingswerken was de vraagstelling daarop gericht. In de praktijk bleek dat de bodem in de meeste werkputten geheel of grotendeels verstoord was. Desondanks heeft de begeleiding archeologische informatie opgeleverd in de vorm van onder andere oude funderingsresten, stadslagen en divers vondstmateriaal uit de nieuwe tijd.

    Authors: Ploegaert, P.H.J.I.;

    Het archeologisch onderzoek in 2021 en 2022 heeft aangetoond dat voor de eerste ophogingen van de percelen de natuurlijke ondergrond is benut. De onderste lagen bestaan uit zandige klei en veen, gewonnen bij het uitgraven van de Scheepmakershaven. Het verklaart ook het geringe aantal vondsten; slechts enkele baksteenpuintjes en een enkel scherfje is hierin gevonden. Bestudering van de profielen van de opgraving leert dat de percelen tot aan de aanleg van de scheepshellingen, aan de zijde van de latere Boompjes, met een pakket grond van ongeveer 3 tot 4 meter zijn opgehoogd. Dit komt in grote lijnen overeen met de 12 Rotterdamse voet die in 17e -eeuwse kronieken wordt genoemd. Voorafgaand aan het archeologisch onderzoek was niet duidelijk wat er van de scheepswerven bewaard was gebleven. Uit het bodemprofiel van de mechanische grondboringen bleek dat de scheepshellingen mogelijk (deels) waren vergraven bij de onderkeldering van het voormalige kantoorgebouw. Van de inrichting van de scheepswerven zelf is een klein stukje van de beschoeiing teruggevonden, maar geen plankieren. Wel zijn de kenmerkende keien- en kiezellaag, en houtsnipperlagen bewaard gebleven. Deze lagen vormden respectievelijk de fundering van de hellingen en de afvallaag van houtbewerking op de werven. De lagen met houtsnippers tonen in het grootste deel van het onderzoeksgebied geen grote hellingshoek. Pas vanaf circa 6 á 7 meter uit de noordelijke damwand van de bouwkuip hellen de afvallagen duidelijker richting de Scheepmakershaven. Dit punt lijkt het begin van de scheepshellingen te markeren richting het noorden. Van de materialen en gereedschappen die op werven zijn gebruikt zijn alleen spijkers in allerlei maten gevonden. Van de bebouwing die na het verdwijnen van de scheepswerven op dit gedeelte tussen de Boompjes en de Scheepmakershaven is gebouwd, zijn enkele sporen bewaard gebleven. Het betreft beschoeiingen op de grens van percelen aan de oostzijde van de Grote Draaisteeg waar al in de 17e eeuw sprake was van bebouwing. De beschoeiingen bestonden uit palen met planken en een bakstenen muur. Ze dienden tevens om percelen op te kunnen hogen zonder dat aangrenzende percelen daar last van hadden. Op een van de percelen aan de Boompjes is tijdens de begeleiding een tonput gevonden. Dergelijke tonnen werden vaak secundair gebruikt als afvaltonnen en ingegraven op een erf. Deze ton bevatte geen vondsten, maar dateert vermoedelijk uit de 18e of 19e eeuw.

    Projectnummer 463444. In de Gelkingestraat in Groningen zijn gasleidingen vervangen. Vanwege de ligging binnen de monumentale binnenstad van Groningen met daaraan gekoppelde regelgeving in het bestemmingsplan zijn de bodemingrepen uitgevoerd onder archeologische begeleiding (protocol 4004) door Antea Group. Dit is gebeurd in juni en juli 2020. Het vervangen van de gasleiding gebeurde door middel van relinen. Daarom is niet met lange sleuven, maar met tamelijk veel kleine in- en uittredegaten gewerkt. De civieltechnische ontgravingen zijn administratief onderscheiden als 21 afzonderlijke werkputten. Na het verwijderen van de verharding is de grond verwijderd door middel van een grondzuigwagen. De grootte van de werkputten varieerde van minder dan 1 m2 tot bijna 20 m2 . Ook de ontgravingsdiepte was variabel met dieptes van 0,7 tot ruim 1,1 m onder maaiveld. Vanwege de ligging binnen de stad Groningen en binnen de zone van middeleeuwse verdedigingswerken was de vraagstelling daarop gericht. In de praktijk bleek dat de bodem in de meeste werkputten geheel of grotendeels verstoord was. Desondanks heeft de begeleiding archeologische informatie opgeleverd in de vorm van muren, structuren en diverse oude bodemlagen. Op basis van het aangetroffen vondstmateriaal vrijwel alle structuren en één daarmee geassocieerde laag uit de nieuwe tijd. Eén muur en alle overige bodemlagen dateren uit de late middeleeuwen. Die muur (S17) is waarschijnlijk 13e-eeuws en mogelijk geassocieerd met de middeleeuwse stadsmuur. Het vondstmateriaal bestaat uit keramiek, (keramisch) bouwmateriaal, dierlijk bot, leer, metaal, hout, glas en botanische monsters. De conserveringstoestand van het vondstmateriaal is in zijn algemeenheid tamelijk goed te noemen, alleen metaal verkeerd in matige staat. De vondsten bestaan uit onder andere kogelpotaardewerk, steengoed, roodbakkend aardewerk, porselein, tegels, vensterglas, leersnippers, slachtafval en een duig van een houten napje. Het botanische materiaal weerspiegelt vooral akkeronkruiden, graslandplanten, planten van natte contexten en in mindere mate cultuurplanten waaronder ook eikenschors. De archeologische begeleiding diende om archeologische resten te documenteren die anders door de civieltechnische werkzaamheden zouden worden verstoord. Het uitgevoerde onderzoek is uitgevoerd als opgraving (variant archeologische begeleiding), wat betekent dat dit de laatste stap is in de AMZ-cyclus. Derhalve zijn geen nadere adviezen of waarderingen gegeven. Ook zijn geen nieuwe of andersoortige archeologische vindplaatsen aangetroffen waar in toekomstig onderzoek rekening mee dient te worden gehouden in deze omgeving
