    Authors: Eugenia Mattei;

    En el año 2019 el filólogo italiano Pasquale Stoppelli publicó una investigación minuciosa en la cual, con argumentos probatorios, otorga a Nicolás Maquiavelo la autoría de Epistola della peste que había sido originalmente atribuida a Lorenzo Strozzi, un literato perteneciente a una de las más ricas e influyentes familias florentinas2. Su estudio introductorio, así como las notas al texto de Maquiavelo, serán un insumo importante para el presente trabajo introductorio y para la primera traducción al español de la carta.

    Authors: Mateo Ballester Rodriguez;

    En un Estado como el español en el que conviven varias identidades nacionales, las diferentes ideas y discursos que han existido sobre la nación española han generado diversas actitudes hacia su pluralidad etnocultural y nacional. Estas se han concretado en decisiones políticas asimismo dispares con relación a educación, cultura, políticas lingüísticas, etc. Este estudio analiza la presencia a lo largo del tiempo de tres concepciones fundamentales en este sentido: la visión étnica tradicional de la nación, claramente obsoleta, y los más relevantes patriotismo constitucional y patriotismo de la pluralidad. El concepto de patriotismo de agregación que aquí se presenta, y su discurso correspondiente, aspiran a trascender lo que se consideran limitaciones de las concepciones señaladas. Este modelo apela a una cultura común de referencia como fundamento de identificación con la nación española, al tiempo que no resulta excluyente sino compatible con otras identidades etno-nacionales dentro del Estado. In a State like Spain, in which several national identities coexist, the different ideas and discourses that have existed in relation to the Spanish nation have given rise to diverse attitudes towards the existing ethnocultural and national plurality, as well as to disparate political decisions in relation to education, culture, language policies, etc. This study analyses the presence over time of three fundamental conceptions in this sense: the traditional ethnic vision of the nation, clearly obsolete, and the more relevant constitutional patriotism and patriotism of plurality. The concept of patriotism of aggregation here presented and its corresponding discourse aim to transcend what are considered limitations of the aforementioned conceptions. This model appeals to a common culture of reference as an element of identification with the Spanish nation, while it is not exclusive but rather compatible with other ethno-national identities within the State.

    Authors: Armando Zerolo Duran;

    Este artículo analiza la relación entre dos autores, Lord Acton y Balmes, en lo que entendemos que ha sido la gran cuestión de la política moderna: la nación y el problema del nacionalismo. Se citan los textos estrechamente relacionados con el tema y se han descartado aquellos más generales o, en el caso de Balmes, de carácter más dogmático o teológico. En el caso del autor español se han seleccionado sus escritos políticos aparecidos en los diferentes medios de prensa en los que colaboró a lo largo de su prolífica carrera. Ambos autores trataron de superar por elevación la dialéctica absolutismo-liberalismo, y propusieron, cada uno a su manera, un modelo de Monarquía Constitucional que no cediese ni al nacionalismo, ni al autoritarismo. Asumieron como propias ideas renovadoras acerca de la libertad política, adaptaron a sus circunstancias las formas políticas propias del federalismo estadounidense, y defendieron la tradición, la religión y el Estado frente a los que ellos entendían que eran las dos grandes amenazas de su época que crecían al amparo del nacionalismo: el individualismo racionalista y el autoritarismo estatalista. This article analyzes the relationship between two authors, Lord Acton and Balmes, in what we understand to have been the great question of modern politics: the nation and the problem of nationalism. Texts closely related to the subject are cited and those that are more general or, in the case of Balmes, of a more dogmatic or theological nature have been discarded. In the case of the Spanish author, his political writings that appeared in the different press media in which he collaborated throughout his prolific career have been selected. Both authors tried to overcome the absolutism-liberalism dialectic by elevation, and proposed, each in their own way, a model of Constitutional Monarchy that would not yield to nationalism or authoritarianism. They assumed as their own innovative ideas about political freedom, adapted the political forms of American federalism to their circumstances, and defended tradition, religion and the State against what they understood to be the two great threats of their time that were growing under nationalism: rationalist individualism and statist authoritarianism.

    Authors: Paloma de la Nuez Sánchez-Cascado;

    Los liberales de todas las épocas han concedido siempre una gran importancia a las ideas en la historia y, en ese sentido, Lord Acton no es ninguna excepción. Al contrario, defendió en sus escritos que las ideas son fuerzas históricas muy poderosas que mueven el mundo. Son las causas de los sucesos políticos y, entre todas ellas, la más importante es la idea de libertad. Una idea moral entendida como libertad de conciencia de la que nacen todas las demás.Precisamente, por el reconocimiento del protagonismo de las ideas en las sociedades humanas, se le considera hoy en día uno de los mayores exponentes de la disciplina Historia de las ideas políticas. Sin embargo, encontramos en el pensamiento histórico de Acton una serie de afirmaciones polémicas y contradictorias. Reconoce la imperfección de nuestro conocimiento, la complejidad de la historia y de las ideas que contribuyen a explicarla, a la vez que hace del historiador un juez inflexible, objetivo e imparcial que ha de juzgar, no sólo los hechos históricos y las ideas que los provocaron, sino también a los historiadores que los narraron. Hasta qué punto es compatible la visión liberal de la historia con ese historiador devenido en juez al que se le supone el conocimiento para discernir, nada más y nada menos, entre el bien y el mal, sigue siendo una incógnita. Liberals of all ages have always attached a great deal of importance to ideas in history, and Lord Acton is no exception. On the contrary, he argued that ideas are very powerful historical forces that shape the world. They are the causes of political events, and the most important of them all is the idea of freedom. This is a moral idea, understood as a freedom of conscience from which all others are born. Today he is considered one of the leading exponents of the discipline of History of Political Ideas precisely because of his recognition of the leading role played by ideas in human societies. However, Acton's historical thought contains a series of controversial and contradictory statements. He recognises the imperfection of our knowledge and the complexity of history and the ideas that help to explain it, while simultaneously making the historian an inflexible, objective and impartial judge who has to judge not only historical events and the ideas that caused them, but also the historians who narrated them. The extent to which the liberal view of history is compatible with that of a historian as a judge who is assumed to have sufficient knowledge to judge between nothing less than good and evil remains unknown.

    Authors: Fernández Leost, José Andrés;

    La lectura del profesor Fernando Vallespín sobre el Leviatán de Thomas Hobbes resulta tan heterodoxa como oportuna para entender las “guerras ideológicas” del presente, en tanto incide en la faceta retórica de su lenguaje y su sustrato pasional, así como revela el trasfondo de un dilema, inherente al liberalismo, que hoy vuelve a reproducirse: el de la conciliación entre el pluralismo axiológico y la adhesión a un conjunto de principios universales. En la condición de axioma del instinto de supervivencia en Hobbes, es decir, en la prevalencia del miedo como presupuesto de partida, que en sí no obedece a decisión racional alguna, probablemente radique un motivo crucial para que Hobbes no descartase acudir al lenguaje emocional. La complejidad reside en la intromisión de Hobbes en la “guerra de las plumas”, abierta a un pluralismo que se repliega en defensa del absolutismo y la cientificidad.

    Authors: Delia Manzanero Fernández;

    El artículo ilustra la utilización del case method a través de una investigación socio-educativa reciente donde se traza una analogía entre el caso de los exploradores de L. Fuller con la situación vital marcada por la pandemia. A tal efecto, pasa revista a cuestiones radicales que se desataron ante la urgencia de un problema cardinal de supervivencia y de salud pública que dejó todo lo demás (derecho, convenciones, moralidad, libertades) en la sombra y plantea algunos dilemas ético-jurídicos desencadenados bajo ciertas situaciones consideradas de emergencia extrema donde la supervivencia de todos está en juego. Frente a la trampa hobbesiana de un supuesto estado de naturaleza por el cual es justificable cualquier tipo de ataque preventivo o violencia, en el artículo se trata de argumentar, al hilo de las respuestas dadas al caso jurídico de Fuller, nuevas formas de entender la comunidad, el pacto social, lo público y lo político. The article illustrates the use of the Case Method through recent socio-educational research where an analogy is drawn between the L. Fuller's case of explorers and the difficult situation marked by the pandemic. To this end, it reviews the substantive issues that were triggered by the urgency of a cardinal problem of survival and public health that left everything else (law, conventions, morality, freedoms) in the shadows and raises some ethical-legal dilemmas triggered by certain situations considered to be extreme emergencies where the survival of all is at stake. Faced with the Hobbesian trap of a supposed state of nature whereby any kind of pre-emptive attack or violence is justifiable, the article attempts to argue, in line with the answers given to Fuller's legal case, new ways of understanding the community, the social pact, the public and the political.

    Authors: Cristina Bahon Arnaiz;

    La presencia de nuevos movimientos religiosos cristianos, también conocidos como sectas, aunque este término incluye un matiz peyorativo, es cada vez más evidente en Corea del Sur. En la actualidad hay alrededor de dieciocho grupos operativos, entre los que destacan cinco: la Federación de Familias para la Paz y la Unificación Mundial, más conocida como la Iglesia de la Unificación; la Iglesia Shincheonji de Jesús: el Templo del Tabernáculo del Testimonio; La Iglesia de Dios Sociedad Misionera Mundial; la Misión Cristiana del Evangelio, más conocida como Jesus Morning Star (JMS); y Guwonpa, también llamada Good News Mission. Este trabajo indagará el origen de los primeros nuevos movimientos religiosos cristianos, emergidos en el norte de la península durante la ocupación japonesa, así como su expansión por el sur con el fin de la guerra de Corea. Por último, se centrará en el grupo cristiano más influyente del país a nivel internacional: la Iglesia de la Unificación. The presence of Christian New Religious Movements (NRM), also known as cults, although this term includes a pejorative nuance, is increasingly evident in South Korea. There are currently around eighteen operational groups, from which five stand out: Family Federation for World Peace and Unification, commonly known as the Unification Church; Shincheonji Church of Jesus: the Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony; the World Mission Society Church of God; Christian Gospel Mission, better known as Jesus Morning Star (JMS); and Guwonpa or Good News Mission. This article will investigate the origin of the first Christian NMRs, which emerged in the north during the Japanese occupation, as well as their expansion to the south with the end of the Korean War. Finally, it will be presented one of the most influential Christian NMR in South Korea: the Unification Church.

    Authors: Javier Redondo Rodelas;

    Lord Acton se mostró partidario de la causa Confederada. Lo hizo guiado por su sentido de la Historia y del poder: los ideales tienen una potencia transformadora y los estados del Sur proclamaron la secesión movidos por la reivindicación de los principios originales de la Revolución norteamericana frente a la tiranía de la mayoría. Acton no entra en interpretaciones jurídicas acerca de la materialización del derecho de secesión, pero explica el significado efectivo de la noción de soberanía y la incluye entre los inalienables derechos de los estados. Acton, celoso de preservar los contrapesos que neutralicen o limiten la tendencia hacia el despotismo de la mayoría y del “Gobierno General”, considera que los estados del Sur lucharon por un ideal: proteger sus derechos sobre la base de la vieja Constitución y por una nueva Unión. Lord Acton took sided with the Confederate cause. He did it guided by his sense of the History and the power: ideals have a transforming power and the South states proclaimed his secession moved by the vindication of the original principles of the North American Revolution against the tyranny of the majority. Acton does not go into legal interpretations about the materialization of the right of secession, but explains the effective meaning of the notion of sovereignty and includes it among the unalienable states’ rights. Acton, jealous of preserving the balances that neutralize or limit the tendency towards the despotism of the majority and of the "General Government", considers that the South states fought for an ideal: they did it to protect their rights on the basis of the old Constitution and for a new Union.

    Authors: Josep Escrig Rosa;

    En este trabajo se analiza el recurso a la escatología y al universo profético-apocalíptico de orientación antiliberal en 1821, año de la consumación de la independencia de México. Las diversas fuentes utilizadas revelan la importancia que adquirieron los discursos sibilinos en la transición del Virreinato al Imperio, así como su potencial movilizador. Se argumenta que estos sirvieron para denunciar el liberalismo revolucionario, fomentar la alternativa emancipadora y proponer lecturas mesiánicas renovadas. A través de esos tres aspectos se exploran las posibilidades del pensamiento escatológico y del marco profético a la hora de comprender los cambios político-religiosos del periodo de las independencias hispanoamericanas. This paper analyses the use of eschatology and the prophetic-apocalyptic universe of anti-liberal thinkers in 1821, the year of the consummation of Mexican independence. Many sources reveal the importance and mobilizing potential of sibylline discourses during the transition from Viceroyalty to Empire. I show they served to denounce revolutionary liberalism, promote an emancipatory alternative, and propose renewed messianic readings. I use these three aspects to explore the possibilities of eschatological thinking and the prophetic framework for understanding the political and religious changes of the Spanish-American independence period.

    Authors: Carolina Bruna Castro;

    This paper aims to point out Bolivar Echeverria ́s relevant concepts taken from Critical Marxism in order to question several concepts in Political Philosophy and rethink them. For example, one concept of interest is the State, among concepts regarding political institutions. What motivates this paper ́s argument is the task of rethinking and revisiting the query for defining the social institutions. Although this paper ́s main points do not deal with proposing a new structure of social institutions, it does address how the history of thought about modernity, identity and Whiteness could help us to question the concept of State. And in doing so, it helps us also to reconsider the State as the social institution where society finds social cohesion. En el presente texto intento mostrar elementos relevantes que Bolívar Echeverría toma del marxismo crítico para reflexionar sobre conceptos de la filosofía política como, por ejemplo, el Estado. La motivación de este texto es abordar las definiciones de instituciones que nos permitan pensar nuestras relaciones sociales. Si bien no propongo aquí una nueva institucionalidad, consideraré cómo los conceptos elaborados por Echeverría de modernidad, identidad y blanquitud nos permiten criticar el concepto de Estado y su alcance como la institución bajo la cual se pretende encontrar algo de cohesión social.

    Authors: Eugenia Mattei;

    En el año 2019 el filólogo italiano Pasquale Stoppelli publicó una investigación minuciosa en la cual, con argumentos probatorios, otorga a Nicolás Maquiavelo la autoría de Epistola della peste que había sido originalmente atribuida a Lorenzo Strozzi, un literato perteneciente a una de las más ricas e influyentes familias florentinas2. Su estudio introductorio, así como las notas al texto de Maquiavelo, serán un insumo importante para el presente trabajo introductorio y para la primera traducción al español de la carta.

    Authors: Mateo Ballester Rodriguez;

    Authors: Armando Zerolo Duran;

    Authors: Paloma de la Nuez Sánchez-Cascado;

    Authors: Fernández Leost, José Andrés;

    La lectura del profesor Fernando Vallespín sobre el Leviatán de Thomas Hobbes resulta tan heterodoxa como oportuna para entender las “guerras ideológicas” del presente, en tanto incide en la faceta retórica de su lenguaje y su sustrato pasional, así como revela el trasfondo de un dilema, inherente al liberalismo, que hoy vuelve a reproducirse: el de la conciliación entre el pluralismo axiológico y la adhesión a un conjunto de principios universales. En la condición de axioma del instinto de supervivencia en Hobbes, es decir, en la prevalencia del miedo como presupuesto de partida, que en sí no obedece a decisión racional alguna, probablemente radique un motivo crucial para que Hobbes no descartase acudir al lenguaje emocional. La complejidad reside en la intromisión de Hobbes en la “guerra de las plumas”, abierta a un pluralismo que se repliega en defensa del absolutismo y la cientificidad.

    Authors: Delia Manzanero Fernández;

    Authors: Cristina Bahon Arnaiz;

    La presencia de nuevos movimientos religiosos cristianos, también conocidos como sectas, aunque este término incluye un matiz peyorativo, es cada vez más evidente en Corea del Sur. En la actualidad hay alrededor de dieciocho grupos operativos, entre los que destacan cinco: la Federación de Familias para la Paz y la Unificación Mundial, más conocida como la Iglesia de la Unificación; la Iglesia Shincheonji de Jesús: el Templo del Tabernáculo del Testimonio; La Iglesia de Dios Sociedad Misionera Mundial; la Misión Cristiana del Evangelio, más conocida como Jesus Morning Star (JMS); y Guwonpa, también llamada Good News Mission. Este trabajo indagará el origen de los primeros nuevos movimientos religiosos cristianos, emergidos en el norte de la península durante la ocupación japonesa, así como su expansión por el sur con el fin de la guerra de Corea. Por último, se centrará en el grupo cristiano más influyente del país a nivel internacional: la Iglesia de la Unificación. The presence of Christian New Religious Movements (NRM), also known as cults, although this term includes a pejorative nuance, is increasingly evident in South Korea. There are currently around eighteen operational groups, from which five stand out: Family Federation for World Peace and Unification, commonly known as the Unification Church; Shincheonji Church of Jesus: the Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony; the World Mission Society Church of God; Christian Gospel Mission, better known as Jesus Morning Star (JMS); and Guwonpa or Good News Mission. This article will investigate the origin of the first Christian NMRs, which emerged in the north during the Japanese occupation, as well as their expansion to the south with the end of the Korean War. Finally, it will be presented one of the most influential Christian NMR in South Korea: the Unification Church.

    Authors: Javier Redondo Rodelas;

    Authors: Josep Escrig Rosa;

    En este trabajo se analiza el recurso a la escatología y al universo profético-apocalíptico de orientación antiliberal en 1821, año de la consumación de la independencia de México. Las diversas fuentes utilizadas revelan la importancia que adquirieron los discursos sibilinos en la transición del Virreinato al Imperio, así como su potencial movilizador. Se argumenta que estos sirvieron para denunciar el liberalismo revolucionario, fomentar la alternativa emancipadora y proponer lecturas mesiánicas renovadas. A través de esos tres aspectos se exploran las posibilidades del pensamiento escatológico y del marco profético a la hora de comprender los cambios político-religiosos del periodo de las independencias hispanoamericanas. This paper analyses the use of eschatology and the prophetic-apocalyptic universe of anti-liberal thinkers in 1821, the year of the consummation of Mexican independence. Many sources reveal the importance and mobilizing potential of sibylline discourses during the transition from Viceroyalty to Empire. I show they served to denounce revolutionary liberalism, promote an emancipatory alternative, and propose renewed messianic readings. I use these three aspects to explore the possibilities of eschatological thinking and the prophetic framework for understanding the political and religious changes of the Spanish-American independence period.

    Authors: Carolina Bruna Castro;
