    Background: Echinoderms are a unique source of amazing secondary metabolites with a wide spectrum of biological activities. Several species of sea urchins contain various toxins and biologically active metabolites. One of the most attractive approaches to treat Alzheimer's disease is searching for effective marine natural products with cholinesterase inhibitory activities. Objective: The current study is designed to investigate the in vitro and in silico acetylcholinesterase and butyrylcholinesterase inhibitory activities of the Persian Gulf echinoderm sea urchin Echinometra mathaei venom and related chemical compounds. Methods: The experiments for LD50, total protein, protein bands, in vitro cholinesterase inhibitory activities, the identity of secondary metabolites, and the in silico evaluations, respectively, were performed by Spearman-Karber, Lowry, SDS-PAGE, Ellman's spectroscopic, GC-MS, and docking methods. Results: The LD50 (IV rat) of the spine, gonad, and coelomic fluid from sea urchin samples were 2.231 ± 0.09, 1.03 ± 0.05, and 1.12 ± 0.13 mg/ml, respectively. The SDS-PAGE and total protein studies showed that at least a portion of the venom is protein in nature. GC-MS analysis of the identified samples revealed 12, 23, and 21 compounds with different chemical types, including alkaloids, terpenes, and steroids, respectively. According to the results, all samples act as significant inhibitors of both enzymes. In silico data for the identified compounds also confirmed the experimental results. Conclusion: The alkaloid compound 6H-Indolo[3,2,1-de] [1,5] naphthyridine-6-one,1,2,3a,4,5- hexahydro-8-hydroxy-3-methyl (C7) had the highest affinity for both enzymes. Further research is needed to determine whether C7 could be a therapeutic candidate for Alzheimer's disease.

    Introduction and Aim: Pain is a common problem that can negatively affect patients' daily life and impair the quality of life of patients. This systematic review evaluates ginger's analgesic effects and underlying mechanisms in postoperative pain. Methods: An extensive search was undertaken in various databases, including Cochrane Library, Pub- Med, Embase, Web of Science, and Scopus. After considering the study's inclusion and exclusion criteria, 12 records were retrieved. The raw data were extracted and entered into an Excel form, and the study outcomes were analyzed. A PRISMA 2020 flow diagram illustrates the direct search approach used for this systematic review. Results: The reviewed studies mainly examined ginger's analgesic effects and other chemical analgesics, such as ibuprofen. Ginger and its bioactive compounds, such as gingerols and shogaols, can reduce postoperative pain by relieving nociceptive, mechanical, and neuropathic pain inflammatory pain by activating the various descendent inhibitory pathways of pain. Ginger induces its postoperative analgesic effects by involving and changing thinly myelinated A-delta, unmyelinated C-fibers, and myelinated A-beta-fibers, Transient receptor potential vanilloid 1 (TRPV1), and inhibiting inflammatory process and oxidant activities. Conclusion: Ginger is emerging as promising analgesic effects through various nociceptive pathways on postoperative pain in patients. Additional rigorous clinical trials are warranted to investigate these results further.

    The cultural heritage buildings (CHB), which are part of mankind's history and identity, are in constant danger of damage or in extreme situations total destruction. That being said, it's of utmost importance to preserve them by identifying the existent, or presumptive, defects using novel methods so that renovation processes can be done in a timely manner and with higher accuracy. The main goal of this research is to use new deep learning (DL) methods in the process of preserving CHBs (situated in Iran); a goal that has been neglected especially in developing countries such as Iran, as these countries still preserve their CHBs using manual, and even archaic, methods that need direct human supervision. Having proven their effectiveness and performance when it comes to processing images, the convolutional neural networks (CNN) are a staple in computer vision (CV) literacy and this paper is not exempt. When lacking enough CHB images, training a CNN from scratch would be very difficult and prone to overfitting; that's why we opted to use a technique called transfer learning (TL) in which we used pre-trained ResNet, MobileNet, and Inception networks, for classification. Even more, the Grad-CAM was utilized to localize the defects to some extent. The final results were very favorable based on those of similar research. The final proposed model can pave the way for moving from manual to unmanned CHB conservation, hence an increase in accuracy and a decrease in human-induced errors.     Abstract: Herbal medicines have long been used in therapeutic medicine owing to their minimal side effects. However, contamination, inadequate purification, and adulteration can lead to adverse outcomes upon intake. Several forensic case studies have reported that these compounds can be overdosed, leading to serious effects and death. Furthermore, their interactions with pharmacological agents are poorly studied. In forensic settings, mass spectrometry along with liquid chromatography is the most practiced method to detect and quantity these agents.

  • В статье на материале фразеологизмов русского и других славянских языков с привлечением вен-герских фразеологических параллелей рассматривается образная составляющая концепта «Бог». Для анализа отобраны фразеологизмы, образы которых отражают взаимодействие Бога и человека. Цель статьи – показать, как в ассоциативных механизмах фраземообразования и ситуациях, отра-жаемых прототипами идиом и пословиц, реализуются общехристианские представления о миро-устройстве и национально специфические интерпретации взаимодействия человека и Бога.Анализируются обороты, восходящие к текстам Библии и представляющие сцены земной жизни Христа, его контакты с последователями и преследователями. В народных фразеологизмах, которые также стали объектом сопоставительного анализа, метафорически переосмысляются ситуации вза-имодействия Бога и простого человека. Клишированные обращения человека к Богу как еще один вид взаимодействия человека и Бога, содержат просьбы о семейном благополучии, здоровье, удаче.Выявлены общие идеологемы, передаваемые конфессионно маркированными фразеологизмами и паремиями славянских языков и венгерского языка. Этот материал свидетельствует о том, что Бог в народных представлениях – заботливый покровитель, помощник человека. Бог определяет судьбу человека, сроки его жизни, отдельные поступки. Бог требует соблюдения определенных мораль-но-этических норм и сурово наказывает за отступление от них.Анализ нашего материала позволяет сделать предварительные заключения о фраземообразова-тельной активности отдельных библейских мотивов в разных лингвокультурах: страдания Христа, отречение его учеников, карающая сила Бога шире представлены в образах западнославянских фра-зеологизмов. Русские фразеологизмы с компонентом «Бог» чаще строятся на ассоциациях с благодатью, фразеологически представленное общение с Богом зачастую можно охарактеризовать как неформальное, на Бога чаще перекладывается ответственность за опрометчивые или неблаговид-ные поступки. Симбиоз языческих и христианских представлений о мироустройстве особенно ярко иллюстрируют русские и венгерские фразеологические обороты, в которых упоминаются русский бог, венгерский бог. На русском и венгерском материале показаны также механизмы десакрализа-ции слова Бог и его использования в угрозах-обсценизмах.Особое внимание уделяется анализу народно-этимологических и профессиональных версий про-исхождения конфессионально детерминированных фразеологизмов. Подчеркивается, что резуль-таты проведенного исследования могут быть полезны при составлении лингвокультурологических словарей и словарей библеизмов.

    The enduring conflict in Ukraine has resonated globally, significantly impacting international security and diplomatic dynamics, particularly in the arena of military and defense cooperation. This study meticulously examines the aftermath of the conflict, focusing on its implications for the established defense partnership between Russia and India. By scrutinizing pertinent literature and primary sources, this study investigates the reverberations of the Ukraine conflict on Russia-India defense cooperation since 2014. It evaluates how India’s defense procurement strategies have adapted, discerning a deliberate shift towards diversification of defense suppliers beyond Russia. This study also emphasizes that Iran should heed the lessons emanating from the India-Russia defense cooperation outlook. It advocates for Iran to diversify its arms suppliers, heavily invest in its domestic defense industry, and significantly reduce its dependency on Russian weapons. By drawing parallels with India’s post-conflict defense evolution, Iran can chart a trajectory towards bolstering its own defense capabilities autonomously. This necessitates fostering a broader spectrum of international partnerships while concurrently enhancing its indigenous technological prowess. The investigation offers Iran a blueprint inspired by India’s recalibration of defense cooperation following the 2014 Russo-Ukraine conflict, aiming to guide Iran towards a more resilient and self-reliant defense posture.

    Abstract Four intelligent methods of Gene Expression Programming (GEP), Support Vector Machines (SVM), Multivariate Adaptive Regression Splines (MARS), and Random Forests (RF) were employed and run to estimate the reference evapotranspiration (ET0). Based on the four categories of radiation, mass transmission, temperature, and combination models, weather variables are used in four groups as inputs of the intelligent models. To involve all data in the training and testing process of the models, the K-fold cross-validation technique was employed. Finally, evaluation of the presented intelligent models was performed with measured data of the six sets of lysimetric data (two grass species × three soil textures), also the effect of soil texture and species on intelligent models was investigated. The results obtained indicate that the RF models performed the best among the four groups, which is followed by SVM, MARS, and GEP models, respectively. The best performance belonged to the RF model from the Combination group (RF1) with the values of coefficient of determination, R2 = 0.833; mean bias error, MBE = -0.007 mm/day; mean absolute error, MAE = 1.07 mm/day; root mean square error, RMSE = 1.357 mm/day, and scatter index, SI = 0.184. Based on the ranks of accuracy, the order of the models, from the best to the worst, were: RF2, MARS1, SVM1, RF3, MARS2, GEP1, SVM2, GEP2, RF4, SVM3, MARS3, SVM4, GEP3, GEP4, and MARS4, respectively. The estimated ET0 values by the models indicated higher accuracy for the lysimeters with Sandy Loam Soil compared to other lysimeters. The performance comparison of the intelligent models for the planted grass species in lysimeters yielded different results, as the accuracy was higher for the Festuca grass in Sandy Loam soils compared to the Lolium grass, in contrary in clay and Silt Loam soils the performance of Lolium grass was better.

    Abstract Morphology is one of the most important branches of river engineering science. Examining the changes in the geometry of sections in rivers that feed large dams is of particular importance. In fact, gaining a better understanding of the river's behavior will reduce potential damages to hydraulic structures and public infrastructure. In this regard, in this research, the morphological changes of Bazoft River, one of the sub-basins of North Karun, which enters the Karun 4 Dam at the end, have been investigated. In this study, using 26 Landsat + ETM and OLI satellite images, the displacement pattern of the main river channel, along with the changes in width and sinuosity resulting from sedimentation and erosion processes in long and short-term intervals leading to the year 2015 and caused by large floods in this period of time was investigated. The results showed that the average displacement of the main channel of the river leading to erosion (sedimentation) for the right and left banks is 14 (15) and 14 (14) percent of the average width of the river, respectively. Also, the net area change rate due to the displacement of the main channel of the river for the right and left banks was obtained as -1.8 and 0.3 hectares per year, respectively. By examining the effect of floods, it was found that the amount of erosion is higher than sedimentation on both coasts, and the left coast is more dynamic than the right coast. The average width of the river in the 30-year period for the four investigated periods is 33.8, 44.7, 40.2, and 38.6 meters, respectively. Also, the width of the Bazoft River did not change much before the biggest flood in 2009 and its value did not exceed 40 meters. But after the flood, the width of the river suddenly increased and these changes seem obvious. The maximum increase in width is related to the second span of the river and its value is equal to 70 meters. Investigations related to four longitudinal intervals along the river's path showed that the sinuosity value in all years in the first interval had an almost constant trend, but in the second and third intervals, its value is higher, so these two intervals are more active than the other two intervals be in the fourth span, which leads to the Karun Dam 4, changes in sinuosity have a downward trend. Also, the results showed that the dewatering of the Karun 4 dam had a significant effect on all the morphological parameters of the Bazoft River in the fourth period. The results of this study perfectly indicated the capability of revealing the river form changes using Satellite Images Time Series (SITS). This homogeneous result indirectly shows that the erosion rate of the upstream basin and the sediment load of the river increased during this period. Therefore, while updating the status of rivers, the effects of protective and structural measures in such rivers can be evaluated in this way and corrected for improvement.

    Intangible cultural heritage has recently emerged as an important sector of sustainable tourism development programs. In this regard, the main objective of this study was to map and examine the capability of different cities in Iran for intangible cultural heritage (ICH) tourism. For the methodological perspective, we employed an integrated geographical information system (GIS) and multi-criteria decision analysis (MCDA) as efficient geospatial approaches for intangible tourism potentiality assessment. Regarding this goal, we concluded that Iranian pastoral nomads have a number of unique characteristics that are suitable to international tourists from a geographical, social, cultural, and artistic perspective. From the methodological framework, we employed an integrated geographical information system and multiple geospatial approaches for analyzing the ICH features and intangible tourism potentiality assessment. The methodological framework includes several major steps, including (a) the selection of the criteria and preparation of a GIS dataset, as well as standardization; (b) criteria weighting and sensitivity analysis; and finally, (c) criteria aggregation and production of the final ICH maps. The results of this study indicated that there is a very high capability of intangible and cultural tourism and heritage in different parts of the country, which are variable based on the local customs, traditions, events, and cultural characteristics. As the results indicated, the highest level of the ICH potentiality was found in Urmia, Khoy, Tabriz, Mashhad, Shiraz, Isfahan, Dezful, and Kashan. These cities are ranked based on the overall capability and contribution of the national intangible tourism potentiality assessment. The results of this study indicated that Iran has indeed remarkable ICH capabilities that can be used as the base of efficient sustainable development programs. However, due to international sanctions and political issues, developing a sustainable tourism program has already faced critical challenges. Based on the results, we concluded that the information obtained from this study leads local stakeholders, decision-makers, and authorities to identify the potentiality of each area and take into account developing tourism plans. In addition, the obtained information will also support readers, international travelers and tourism agencies to understand the potentiality of each area, as well as the suitability of different areas for intended travel objects, and to develop tourism programs and plans.

    Background: Echinoderms are a unique source of amazing secondary metabolites with a wide spectrum of biological activities. Several species of sea urchins contain various toxins and biologically active metabolites. One of the most attractive approaches to treat Alzheimer's disease is searching for effective marine natural products with cholinesterase inhibitory activities. Objective: The current study is designed to investigate the in vitro and in silico acetylcholinesterase and butyrylcholinesterase inhibitory activities of the Persian Gulf echinoderm sea urchin Echinometra mathaei venom and related chemical compounds. Methods: The experiments for LD50, total protein, protein bands, in vitro cholinesterase inhibitory activities, the identity of secondary metabolites, and the in silico evaluations, respectively, were performed by Spearman-Karber, Lowry, SDS-PAGE, Ellman's spectroscopic, GC-MS, and docking methods. Results: The LD50 (IV rat) of the spine, gonad, and coelomic fluid from sea urchin samples were 2.231 ± 0.09, 1.03 ± 0.05, and 1.12 ± 0.13 mg/ml, respectively. The SDS-PAGE and total protein studies showed that at least a portion of the venom is protein in nature. GC-MS analysis of the identified samples revealed 12, 23, and 21 compounds with different chemical types, including alkaloids, terpenes, and steroids, respectively. According to the results, all samples act as significant inhibitors of both enzymes. In silico data for the identified compounds also confirmed the experimental results. Conclusion: The alkaloid compound 6H-Indolo[3,2,1-de] [1,5] naphthyridine-6-one,1,2,3a,4,5- hexahydro-8-hydroxy-3-methyl (C7) had the highest affinity for both enzymes. Further research is needed to determine whether C7 could be a therapeutic candidate for Alzheimer's disease.

    Introduction and Aim: Pain is a common problem that can negatively affect patients' daily life and impair the quality of life of patients. This systematic review evaluates ginger's analgesic effects and underlying mechanisms in postoperative pain. Methods: An extensive search was undertaken in various databases, including Cochrane Library, Pub- Med, Embase, Web of Science, and Scopus. After considering the study's inclusion and exclusion criteria, 12 records were retrieved. The raw data were extracted and entered into an Excel form, and the study outcomes were analyzed. A PRISMA 2020 flow diagram illustrates the direct search approach used for this systematic review. Results: The reviewed studies mainly examined ginger's analgesic effects and other chemical analgesics, such as ibuprofen. Ginger and its bioactive compounds, such as gingerols and shogaols, can reduce postoperative pain by relieving nociceptive, mechanical, and neuropathic pain inflammatory pain by activating the various descendent inhibitory pathways of pain. Ginger induces its postoperative analgesic effects by involving and changing thinly myelinated A-delta, unmyelinated C-fibers, and myelinated A-beta-fibers, Transient receptor potential vanilloid 1 (TRPV1), and inhibiting inflammatory process and oxidant activities. Conclusion: Ginger is emerging as promising analgesic effects through various nociceptive pathways on postoperative pain in patients. Additional rigorous clinical trials are warranted to investigate these results further.

    The cultural heritage buildings (CHB), which are part of mankind's history and identity, are in constant danger of damage or in extreme situations total destruction. That being said, it's of utmost importance to preserve them by identifying the existent, or presumptive, defects using novel methods so that renovation processes can be done in a timely manner and with higher accuracy. The main goal of this research is to use new deep learning (DL) methods in the process of preserving CHBs (situated in Iran); a goal that has been neglected especially in developing countries such as Iran, as these countries still preserve their CHBs using manual, and even archaic, methods that need direct human supervision. Having proven their effectiveness and performance when it comes to processing images, the convolutional neural networks (CNN) are a staple in computer vision (CV) literacy and this paper is not exempt. When lacking enough CHB images, training a CNN from scratch would be very difficult and prone to overfitting; that's why we opted to use a technique called transfer learning (TL) in which we used pre-trained ResNet, MobileNet, and Inception networks, for classification. Even more, the Grad-CAM was utilized to localize the defects to some extent. The final results were very favorable based on those of similar research. The final proposed model can pave the way for moving from manual to unmanned CHB conservation, hence an increase in accuracy and a decrease in human-induced errors.   • В статье на материале фразеологизмов русского и других славянских языков с привлечением вен-герских фразеологических параллелей рассматривается образная составляющая концепта «Бог». Для анализа отобраны фразеологизмы, образы которых отражают взаимодействие Бога и человека. Цель статьи – показать, как в ассоциативных механизмах фраземообразования и ситуациях, отра-жаемых прототипами идиом и пословиц, реализуются общехристианские представления о миро-устройстве и национально специфические интерпретации взаимодействия человека и Бога.Анализируются обороты, восходящие к текстам Библии и представляющие сцены земной жизни Христа, его контакты с последователями и преследователями. В народных фразеологизмах, которые также стали объектом сопоставительного анализа, метафорически переосмысляются ситуации вза-имодействия Бога и простого человека. Клишированные обращения человека к Богу как еще один вид взаимодействия человека и Бога, содержат просьбы о семейном благополучии, здоровье, удаче.Выявлены общие идеологемы, передаваемые конфессионно маркированными фразеологизмами и паремиями славянских языков и венгерского языка. Этот материал свидетельствует о том, что Бог в народных представлениях – заботливый покровитель, помощник человека. Бог определяет судьбу человека, сроки его жизни, отдельные поступки. Бог требует соблюдения определенных мораль-но-этических норм и сурово наказывает за отступление от них.Анализ нашего материала позволяет сделать предварительные заключения о фраземообразова-тельной активности отдельных библейских мотивов в разных лингвокультурах: страдания Христа, отречение его учеников, карающая сила Бога шире представлены в образах западнославянских фра-зеологизмов. Русские фразеологизмы с компонентом «Бог» чаще строятся на ассоциациях с благодатью, фразеологически представленное общение с Богом зачастую можно охарактеризовать как неформальное, на Бога чаще перекладывается ответственность за опрометчивые или неблаговид-ные поступки. Симбиоз языческих и христианских представлений о мироустройстве особенно ярко иллюстрируют русские и венгерские фразеологические обороты, в которых упоминаются русский бог, венгерский бог. На русском и венгерском материале показаны также механизмы десакрализа-ции слова Бог и его использования в угрозах-обсценизмах.Особое внимание уделяется анализу народно-этимологических и профессиональных версий про-исхождения конфессионально детерминированных фразеологизмов. Подчеркивается, что резуль-таты проведенного исследования могут быть полезны при составлении лингвокультурологических словарей и словарей библеизмов.

    The enduring conflict in Ukraine has resonated globally, significantly impacting international security and diplomatic dynamics, particularly in the arena of military and defense cooperation. This study meticulously examines the aftermath of the conflict, focusing on its implications for the established defense partnership between Russia and India. By scrutinizing pertinent literature and primary sources, this study investigates the reverberations of the Ukraine conflict on Russia-India defense cooperation since 2014. It evaluates how India’s defense procurement strategies have adapted, discerning a deliberate shift towards diversification of defense suppliers beyond Russia. This study also emphasizes that Iran should heed the lessons emanating from the India-Russia defense cooperation outlook. It advocates for Iran to diversify its arms suppliers, heavily invest in its domestic defense industry, and significantly reduce its dependency on Russian weapons. By drawing parallels with India’s post-conflict defense evolution, Iran can chart a trajectory towards bolstering its own defense capabilities autonomously. This necessitates fostering a broader spectrum of international partnerships while concurrently enhancing its indigenous technological prowess. The investigation offers Iran a blueprint inspired by India’s recalibration of defense cooperation following the 2014 Russo-Ukraine conflict, aiming to guide Iran towards a more resilient and self-reliant defense posture.

    Abstract Four intelligent methods of Gene Expression Programming (GEP), Support Vector Machines (SVM), Multivariate Adaptive Regression Splines (MARS), and Random Forests (RF) were employed and run to estimate the reference evapotranspiration (ET0). Based on the four categories of radiation, mass transmission, temperature, and combination models, weather variables are used in four groups as inputs of the intelligent models. To involve all data in the training and testing process of the models, the K-fold cross-validation technique was employed. Finally, evaluation of the presented intelligent models was performed with measured data of the six sets of lysimetric data (two grass species × three soil textures), also the effect of soil texture and species on intelligent models was investigated. The results obtained indicate that the RF models performed the best among the four groups, which is followed by SVM, MARS, and GEP models, respectively. The best performance belonged to the RF model from the Combination group (RF1) with the values of coefficient of determination, R2 = 0.833; mean bias error, MBE = -0.007 mm/day; mean absolute error, MAE = 1.07 mm/day; root mean square error, RMSE = 1.357 mm/day, and scatter index, SI = 0.184. Based on the ranks of accuracy, the order of the models, from the best to the worst, were: RF2, MARS1, SVM1, RF3, MARS2, GEP1, SVM2, GEP2, RF4, SVM3, MARS3, SVM4, GEP3, GEP4, and MARS4, respectively. The estimated ET0 values by the models indicated higher accuracy for the lysimeters with Sandy Loam Soil compared to other lysimeters. The performance comparison of the intelligent models for the planted grass species in lysimeters yielded different results, as the accuracy was higher for the Festuca grass in Sandy Loam soils compared to the Lolium grass, in contrary in clay and Silt Loam soils the performance of Lolium grass was better.

    Abstract Morphology is one of the most important branches of river engineering science. Examining the changes in the geometry of sections in rivers that feed large dams is of particular importance. In fact, gaining a better understanding of the river's behavior will reduce potential damages to hydraulic structures and public infrastructure. In this regard, in this research, the morphological changes of Bazoft River, one of the sub-basins of North Karun, which enters the Karun 4 Dam at the end, have been investigated. In this study, using 26 Landsat + ETM and OLI satellite images, the displacement pattern of the main river channel, along with the changes in width and sinuosity resulting from sedimentation and erosion processes in long and short-term intervals leading to the year 2015 and caused by large floods in this period of time was investigated. The results showed that the average displacement of the main channel of the river leading to erosion (sedimentation) for the right and left banks is 14 (15) and 14 (14) percent of the average width of the river, respectively. Also, the net area change rate due to the displacement of the main channel of the river for the right and left banks was obtained as -1.8 and 0.3 hectares per year, respectively. By examining the effect of floods, it was found that the amount of erosion is higher than sedimentation on both coasts, and the left coast is more dynamic than the right coast. The average width of the river in the 30-year period for the four investigated periods is 33.8, 44.7, 40.2, and 38.6 meters, respectively. Also, the width of the Bazoft River did not change much before the biggest flood in 2009 and its value did not exceed 40 meters. But after the flood, the width of the river suddenly increased and these changes seem obvious. The maximum increase in width is related to the second span of the river and its value is equal to 70 meters. Investigations related to four longitudinal intervals along the river's path showed that the sinuosity value in all years in the first interval had an almost constant trend, but in the second and third intervals, its value is higher, so these two intervals are more active than the other two intervals be in the fourth span, which leads to the Karun Dam 4, changes in sinuosity have a downward trend. Also, the results showed that the dewatering of the Karun 4 dam had a significant effect on all the morphological parameters of the Bazoft River in the fourth period. The results of this study perfectly indicated the capability of revealing the river form changes using Satellite Images Time Series (SITS). This homogeneous result indirectly shows that the erosion rate of the upstream basin and the sediment load of the river increased during this period. Therefore, while updating the status of rivers, the effects of protective and structural measures in such rivers can be evaluated in this way and corrected for improvement.

    Intangible cultural heritage has recently emerged as an important sector of sustainable tourism development programs. In this regard, the main objective of this study was to map and examine the capability of different cities in Iran for intangible cultural heritage (ICH) tourism. For the methodological perspective, we employed an integrated geographical information system (GIS) and multi-criteria decision analysis (MCDA) as efficient geospatial approaches for intangible tourism potentiality assessment. Regarding this goal, we concluded that Iranian pastoral nomads have a number of unique characteristics that are suitable to international tourists from a geographical, social, cultural, and artistic perspective. From the methodological framework, we employed an integrated geographical information system and multiple geospatial approaches for analyzing the ICH features and intangible tourism potentiality assessment. The methodological framework includes several major steps, including (a) the selection of the criteria and preparation of a GIS dataset, as well as standardization; (b) criteria weighting and sensitivity analysis; and finally, (c) criteria aggregation and production of the final ICH maps. The results of this study indicated that there is a very high capability of intangible and cultural tourism and heritage in different parts of the country, which are variable based on the local customs, traditions, events, and cultural characteristics. As the results indicated, the highest level of the ICH potentiality was found in Urmia, Khoy, Tabriz, Mashhad, Shiraz, Isfahan, Dezful, and Kashan. These cities are ranked based on the overall capability and contribution of the national intangible tourism potentiality assessment. The results of this study indicated that Iran has indeed remarkable ICH capabilities that can be used as the base of efficient sustainable development programs. However, due to international sanctions and political issues, developing a sustainable tourism program has already faced critical challenges. Based on the results, we concluded that the information obtained from this study leads local stakeholders, decision-makers, and authorities to identify the potentiality of each area and take into account developing tourism plans. In addition, the obtained information will also support readers, international travelers and tourism agencies to understand the potentiality of each area, as well as the suitability of different areas for intended travel objects, and to develop tourism programs and plans.
