    Wydział Prawa i Administracji Punkt wyjścia do badań, stanowi wątpliwość, czy aktualny system ochrony zabytków funkcjonujący w polskim porządku prawnym jest dostatecznie efektywny by odpowiednio zabezpieczyć i zachować materialne wyrazy dziedzictwa, których dynamicznie przyrasta. By tę efektywność poprawić, podejmuję próbę znalezienia i opisania instytucji prawnej, która może współtworząc nowy model zarządzania dziedzictwem uzupełnić funkcjonujący aktualnie system ochrony zabytków. Analiza stanu faktycznego i prawnego ochrony dziedzictwa w Polsce pozwala wskazać potrzeby, którym ma odpowiedzieć planowana nowa instytucja prawna. Konieczne jest przeorientowanie systemu ochrony na zarządzanie, które na zasadzie synergii wykorzystuje potencjał uczestników procesu. Ponieważ własność dóbr kultury wobec obowiązku ochrony i upubliczniania ma specyficzną, obciążoną naturę noszącą znamiona powiernictwa, co przejawia się w stosunku dysponentów zarówno do samych dóbr kultury jak i ich beneficjentów, praca jest poświęcona poszukiwaniom instytucji realizującej aspekt zarówno powierniczy jak i zarządczy. Na przykładzie trustu szkockiego pokazuję, że ukształtowana w tej instytucji koncepcja powiernictwa jest zgodna z cywilistycznym pojmowaniem prawa własności. Pozwala to zaproponować konkretne rozwiązanie prawne w postaci nowego, fakultatywnego modelu zarządzania dziedzictwem. Jego trzon stanowić ma instytucja własności powierniczej dóbr kultury. Całość koncepcji uzupełniają sugestie dotyczące sposobu wprowadzenia nowej instytucji do porządku prawnego oraz instytucji jej towarzyszących. Starting point of the undertaken research, is a serious doubt about the effectiveness of the heritage protection mechanisms functioning in polish legal system. In order to improve this efficiency, I make an attempt to find and describe a legal institution that, together with other institutions will create a new model of heritage management in Poland. Assessment of the current situation both as it comes to legislation and actual condition of monuments preservation allows us to indicate the needs which are about to be met by the new institution. Therefore it is essential to refocus the system from the protection to the management. Ownership of cultural goods, in relation to the obligation of protecting and sharing with public, has a specific encumbered nature. It has characteristics of the trusteeship that can be seen in relationship of the owner with the cultural goods and beneficiary. Therefore, the rest of the dissertation is devoted to the search for institution that implements both the fiduciary and managerial aspects, that meets the expressed needs and the encumbered nature of the ownership. On the example of a Scottish trust, I show that the structure of fiduciary property is consistent with the civil understanding of the right of ownership. It allows me to propose a legal solution in the form of a new, optional management model, which will shape the legal relationship of heritage in Poland. The core institution is fiduciary ownership of cultural goods. The whole concept is complemented by suggestions on how to introduce a new institution to the legal order and the elements supporting the main institution.

    Wydział Historii Rozprawa poświęcona jest problemowi komunikatu płynącego z nowożytnych inskrypcji sepulkralnych duchowieństwa gnieźnieńskiego. Pierwszym etapem pracy była kwerenda terenowa, której efektem jest załączony do opracowania katalog. Kolejnym etapem było umiejscowienie zebranego materiału w kontekście kultury funeralnej Rzeczypospolitej. Poświęcony tym kwestią jest pierwszy rozdział rozprawy. W rozdziale drugim w badanych inskrypcjach duchowieństwa gnieźnieńskiego wydzielono następujące treści: przedstawienie zmarłego, tytulatura zmarłego, funkcje pełnionymi przez zmarłego, opis kariery w administracji świeckiej, kościelnej, a także kariery naukowej i posługi duszpasterskiej, działalność fundacyjnej, informacje o fundatorze nagrobka i dacie fundacji, informacje na temat zgonu (miejsce pochówku, okoliczności śmierci, data śmierci, długość życia zmarłego, a także określenie użyte na słowo „śmierć”), cnoty zmarłego, odniesienie do Boga. Rozdział trzeci poświęcono w całości odpowiedzi na pytanie o to, czy komunikat inskrypcji zmienia się w zależności od typu obiektu, na którym się ona znajduje. W tym celu sklasyfikowano obiekty sepulkralne według ich form. W ramach wydzielonych grup omówiono środki, za pomocą których przekazywany komunikat. The group of priesthood from the Gniezno diocese consisted of archbishops, canons, parsons, and curates. The epigraphic material is mostly located Gniezno in small parish churches. The Archbishop of Gniezno was one of the most important person in the country. On the other hand, the canonries’ also lived in affluence but their level of wealthiness was compared to the middle class. The variety of the analyzed group gives opportunities to see the similarities and differences between the objects. Every single object was photographed, measured and read. Next part is devoted to the study of communication. Especially important was how the graphic form of the inscription was connected with the inscription form.

    Authors: Dziubata, Karolina;

    Wydział Antropologii i Kulturoznawstwa Rozprawa doktorska skupia się na relacji między folkloryzmem a ochroną niematerialnego dziedzictwa kulturowego na przykładzie weselnych widowisk obrzędowych w Wielkopolsce. To sztuki widowiskowe oparte na tradycyjnej obrzędowości weselnej charakterystycznej dla danego obszaru, wykonywane przez regionalne zespoły folklorystyczne. Spektakle przedstawiają elementy folkloru tradycyjnego (m.in. tańce, muzykę, pieśni, gwarę, stroje) w których odzwierciedlają się dawne warunki życia lokalnej społeczności. Celem rozprawy jest poznanie funkcji weselnych widowisk obrzędowych w lokalnym krajobrazie kulturowym w kontekście koncepcji folkloryzmu i systemu ochrony niematerialnego dziedzictwa kulturowego na przykładzie działalności wybranych widowisk i wykonujących je zespołów folklorystycznych. Praca umocowana jest w paradygmacie antropologii folkloru i folklorystyki antropologicznej (Sulima 1985, Kowalski 1990) i stanowi próbę antropologicznej odpowiedzi na pytanie, czy weselne widowiska obrzędowe, postrzegane jako zjawisko należące do kategorii folkloryzmu, stanowią formę ochrony niematerialnego dziedzictwa kulturowego. Zgodnie z koncepcją Józefa Burszty rozumiem folkloryzm jako zjawisko polegające na stosowaniu wybranych treści i form folkloru w sytuacjach zaaranżowanych (1969: 88; 1987: 142-143) i w takich kategoriach postrzegam weselne widowiska obrzędowe – jako symboliczną reprezentację tradycyjnej obrzędowości rodzinnej.Interesują mnie motywacje i konsekwencje podejmowania tego typu działań przez członków zespołów folklorystycznych, sposoby rozumienia folkloru, odtwarzanie i zarządzanie elementami niematerialnego dziedzictwa kulturowego oraz ich wykorzystanie do celów społecznych, ekonomicznych i politycznych. Studia przypadku omawiane w niniejszej pracy stanowią trzy weselne widowiska obrzędowe: Wesele szamotulskie, Wesele przyprostyńskie i Wesele biskupiańskie. Wybór ten został uzasadniony ilością dostępnych na ich temat materiałów, ciągłością i częstotliwością wystawiania spektakli, a także ich związkiem z wpisaniem Tradycji weselnych z Szamotuł i okolic, Tradycji dudziarskich w Wielkopolsce oraz Tradycji kulturowych Biskupizny na Krajową listę niematerialnego dziedzictwa kulturowego. W rozprawie argumentuję, że widowiska te stały się istotnym elementem lokalnych i regionalnych krajobrazów kulturowych, trwale wpisując się w życie ich mieszkańców. Rozprawa składa się z siedmiu rozdziałów, wstępu, zakończenia, bibliografii oraz aneksu zawierającego wykaz przeprowadzonych wywiadów i wykorzystanych ankiet. Pracę podsumowuje Zakończenie, w którym zamieściłam manifest zmodyfikowanej metodologii badania folkloru i folkloryzmu. W ślad za Reginą Bendix (1997) proponuję dekonstrukcję języka autentyczności i odmawiam używania go do celów opisowych. Celem mojej pracy nie jest ekspercka ocena autentyczności weselnych widowisk obrzędowych, lecz ustalenie ich miejsca, znaczenia i funkcji we współczesnym lokalnym krajobrazie kulturowym. The core task of this dissertation is to describe functions of on-stage wedding performances delivered by folklore dance groups in the local and regional cultural landscape of three selected regions in Poland in the context of the concept of folklorism and world system for the protection of intangible cultural heritage. This dissertation is an anthropological attempt to answer the question whether on-stage wedding performances, perceived as a phenomena that fall under the category of folklorism, subsist as a bottom-up way to protect local and regional intangible cultural heritage. The work is rooted in the paradigm of anthropology of folklore (Sulima 1985, Kowalski 1990) and is an attempt to anthropological answer to the question whether wedding ceremonial performances, perceived as a phenomenon belonging to the category of folklorism, constitute a form of protection of intangible cultural heritage. According to Józef Burszta, I percieve folklorism as the use of selected contents and forms of traditional folklore in arranged situations (1969: 88; 1987: 142-143) and in such categories I perceive wedding ceremonies – as a symbolic representation of traditional family rituals. I focus on the motivations and consequences of undertaking such activities by members of folk dance groups, ways of understanding folklore, recreating and managing elements of intangible cultural heritage and their use for social, economic and political purposes. The case studies discussed in this paper constitute three ceremonial wedding performances: Wesele szamotulskie, Wesele przyprostyńskie and Wesele biskupiańskie. This choice was justified by the amount of available materials available, continuity and frequency of staging performances, as well as their relationship with the National List of Intangible Cultural Heritage, which is one of the ways of implementation the UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage. In the dissertation, I argue that these shows have become an important element of local and regional cultural landscapes, permanently inscribing in their inhabitants’ existence. They also play a role of one of the local initiatives for the protection of intangible cultural heritage. Members of local communities consider folk performances as an efficient method to pass on their traditions or, considering their long history, a tradition itself. The dissertation consists of eight chapters, introduction, conclusion, bibliography and annex containing the list of conducted interviews and used questionnaires. The work is summed up by a manifesto of the modified methodology of researching folklore and folklore. Following Regina Bendix (1997), I propose a deconstruction of the language of authenticity and refuse to use it for descriptive purposes. The aim of my work is not to expertly assess the authenticity of wedding ceremonies, but to establish their place, meaning and function in the contemporary local cultural landscape. My work shows on-stage wedding performances from the viewpoint of their creators. It’s intent is not to judge their authenticity, but to examine social importance of the folklorism.

    Wydział Nauk Społecznych Podstawowym celem pracy jest zrekonstruowanie sposobów powstawania i funkcjonowania marek artystycznych w dwóch sferach życia społecznego: w świecie sztuki i w otoczeniu świata sztuki. Marką artystyczną może być zarówno osoba (artysta, kurator, krytyk, galerzysta, kolekcjoner) jaki i instytucja (muzeum, galeria, targi sztuki), które spełniają kryteria bycia silną marką: (1) są szeroko rozpoznawalne, (2) osiągają znaczące wyniki finansowe, (3) posiadają lojalnych odbiorców, (4) zajmują znaczące miejsce w obiegu symbolicznym sztuki. Marki artystyczne wyróżniają się na tle konkurencji w jednej lub więcej spośród wyżej wymienionych kategorii. Efektem pracy jest analiza obecności marek artystycznych we współczesnej Polsce. Zrekonstruowane zostały mechanizmy sprawiające, że artysta lub instytucja staje się marką przy szczególnym zwróceniu uwagi na punkty zwrotne w tego typu karierach, punkty węzłowe procesów konstruowania marek (a więc miejsca, gdzie przeplatają się losy kilku osób lub instytucji) oraz momenty, w których jasne staje się, w którym z istniejących obiegów cyrkulacji sztuki dany artysta lub instytucja będzie funkcjonować (w świecie sztuki czy otoczeniu świata sztuki). The basic objective of my thesis is to reconstruct the methods of creation and functioning of artistic brands in two zones of social life: in the art world and in the surroundings of the art world. Both a person (artist, curator, critic, art gallery owner, collector) and an institution (museum, gallery, art trade fair), which meet the following criteria of being a strong brand, may constitute the artistic brand: (1) are broadly recognizable, (2) achieve substantial financial results, (3) have loyal recipients, (4) have a well-grounded position in symbolic art circuit. Artistic brands are distinguished against the background of the competition in one or more of the aforementioned categories. The thesis is aimed at carrying out in-depth analysis of the presence of artistic brands in contemporary Poland. Mechanisms which make the artist or the institution become a brand with particular emphasis on turning points in such careers, node points of brand construction processes (thus places, where the fates of a few persons or institutions intertwine) and moments when it becomes clear in which of the existing art circuits a given artist or institution will function (in the art world or the surroundings of the art world) are to be reconstructed.

    Authors: Kostyrko, Mikołaj;

    Wydział Historyczny Celem niniejsze pracy jest odpowiedzenie na fundamentalne pytania jakie stawia archeologia krajobrazu: w jaki sposób człowiek wpływa na kształt otoczenia, w którym się znajduje oraz w jaki sposób poddaje się jego formie? Za studium przypadku do omówienia wspomnianych kwestii wybrany został poobozowy krajobraz z okolic Czerska, woj. pomorskie. W tym miejscu w trakcie I wojny światowej istniał i funkcjonował Kriegsgefangenenlager Czersk. Próba odpowiedzi na wyżej postawione pytania została podjęta poprzez pryzmat biografii krajobrazu oraz danych teledetekcyjnych, wspartych źródłami historycznymi. Wydzielone zostały trzy etapy życia tego miejsca – powstanie oraz funkcjonowanie drugiego życia oraz długiego życia. Wspomniane etapy stały się przyczynkiem do poszukiwań kluczowych kategorii badawczych, pozwalających na zrozumieniu funkcjonowania (bycia) tego miejsca, w przeszłości jak i współczesności, jak i odniesienie biografii badanej przestrzeni do szerszego kontekstu. Pierwszą z tych kategorii stała się władza; która miał być narzucona jeńcom (pojmanym żołnierzom) przez służby obozowe (agentów systemu). Kolejną kategorią jest ironia i odnosi do tak zwanego drugiego życia obozu – okresu, w którym został on zlikwidowany, a przestrzeń po nim (oraz jego relikty) zmieniła swoje znaczenia. Ostatnia kategoria to nie–miejsce pamięci odwołuje się do dziedzictwa jenieckich obozów Wielkiej Wojny znajdujących się na terenie współczesnej Polski. Przedstawione studium przypadku stało się również przykładem omówienia tzw. drugiego wymiaru palimpsestu oraz efektu szczęśliwego trafu. This doctoral thesis aims to address fundamental questions of landscape archeology: how we as people influence and change the area that we live in and on the other had how we are influenced by it. A case study of post-conflict landscape was chosen to discuss these issues, a place where during the WWI German army established a Prisoner of War (POW) camp for Triple Entrant Soldiers a former Kriegsgefangenenlager Czersk. This research was conducted from a biography of landscape perspective and remote sensing data (recent as well as historic aerial photographs and airborne laser scanning derivatives) with additional aid of historical sources. Three life stages of this landscape have been distinguished – first faze connected to formation and duration of POW camp, second addressing when abandoning faze of the POW camp’s landscape, a third one focused on longue durée of this place (its meaning and commemoration). Those three periods became keystones in developing research categories through which biography of this landscape was analyzed. First of the categories, connected to the one of fazes mentioned above, is power – it addressees relations within the camp. Another category is irony which refers so-called second life of the camp – a moment when it was demolished and its former landscape changed its meaning. The last category is a non-place of remembrance (non-lieux de memoire) that refers to the legacy of the POW camps of the Great War located in contemporary Poland. Presented case study also became a contribution to the discussion on so-called the second dimension of the palimpsest and the serendipity effect.

    Wydział Historyczny Tematem rozprawy jest zwrot w teoretycznym myśleniu o sztuce malarstwa barwnych płaszczyzn oraz historii ekspresjonizmu abstrakcyjnego, pokazany na przykładzie historii recepcji oraz analiz obrazów trzech liderów awangardowego malarstwa amerykańskiego: Barnetta Newmana, Clyfforda Stilla oraz Marka Rothki. Ponowoczesny model recepcji dotyczy transformacji czasowości nowoczesnej historii sztuki, której strukturę wyznaczyła wertykalna oś, związana z duchowymi aspiracjami Amerykanów oraz progresywna oś, związana z wagą doskonalenia formy artystycznej. The subject of the dissertation is a theoretical turn in thinking about the color field painting and the history of Abstract Expressionism, shown on the example of the history of reception and analysis of paintings by three leaders of avant-garde American painting: Barnett Newman, Clyfford Still and Mark Rothko. The postmodern model of the reception refers to the transformation of the temporality of modern art history. It’s structure was determined by the vertical axis, associated with the spiritual aspirations of the Americans and the progressive axis, related to the importance of perfecting the artistic form.

    Wydział Neofilologii Niniejsza rozprawa służy rozważeniu kwestii interpretacji wyrażeń anaforycznych w języku japońskim w kontekście możliwości uzyskania efektywnego systemu automatycznego tłumaczenia japońsko-polskiego. Głównym jej celem jest przedstawienie stanu dziedziny badań nad tłumaczeniem maszynowym, w szczególności w kontekście interpretacji wyrażeń anaforycznych, oraz odniesienie wniosków z analizy do ogólnie pojętego tłumaczenia maszynowego japońsko-polskiego. Odniesienie to służy przede wszystkim wyszczególnieniu potencjalnych punktów problemowych w przyszłych systemach automatycznego przekładu japońsko-polskiego oraz ocenie realistycznych oczekiwań stawianych wobec takich systemów. W pracy przedstawiono w kolejności zarys stanu dziedziny tłumaczenia maszynowego w ogólności, kwestię opisu wyrażeń anaforycznych oraz ich interpretacji w ujęciu językoznawczym, przegląd najważniejszych narzędzi wykorzystywanych w przetwarzaniu języka naturalnego wraz ze wskazaniem na ich możliwości i niedobory oraz przegląd badań nad maszynową interpretacją anafory w języku japońskim. Następnie w ostatnim rozdziale pracy opisano konsekwencje wynikające z wcześniejszych rozważań dla przyszłych badań nad japońsko-polskim tłumaczeniem maszynowym. The thesis discusses interpretation of anaphoric expressions in the light of potentially creating an effective Japanese-Polish machine translation system. The main purpose of the text is to present the current state of research in machine translation, especially in the context of anaphora resolution, and generalizing the conclusions to Japanese-Polish machine translation. This is primarily meant to illustrate potential problems in future Japanese-Polish MT systems and to assess how realistic the expectations for such a system would be. The thesis includes in turn: an overview of the field of machine translation, linguistic descriptions of anaphoric expressions and theories about their interpretation, an overview of natural language processing tools with both their strengths and weaknesses, and a survey of automatic anaphora resolution in Japanese. The last chapter of the thesis gives conclusions about future research into Japanese-Polish MT systems based on discussions from all the previous chapters.

    Authors: Dziubata, Karolina;

    Authors: Kostyrko, Mikołaj;

    Authors: Jarosz, Ewelina;

    Authors: Patrycja, Świeczkowska;
