    Authors: Jesenšek, Marko;

    in Prekmurje, such natural development was embraced by Catholic writers, while Protestants persisted in provincialism until the end of World War I. Jesenšek thus raises a topical and important issue for science, as he recognizes the implications for unscientific vendor theory, which he refutes by analyzing the language situation in Prekmurje. For further linguistic research, it is important that Kardoš's insistence on the Prekmurje language in the book, after unification of the Slovene literary norm, not explain the linguistic delusion and deviation from the positive developmental direction of the Slovene language, but analyze his posture sociolinguistically and show it in the light of the then hidden Hungarian pressures: not as a decision for Hungary and against Slovenia, but as a decision to survive Protestantism in Prekmurje. v Prekmurju so tak naravni razvoj sprejeli katoliški pisci, medtem ko so protestanti vztrajali v pokrajinskosti vse do konca prve svetovne vojne. Jesenšek tako odpira aktualno in pomembno vprašanje za znanost, saj v tem prepoznava nastavke za neznanstveno vendsko teorijo, ki jo ovrže z analizo jezikovnih razmer v Prekmurju. Za nadaljnje jezikovne raziskave je pomembno, da Kardoševega vztrajanja pri prekmurskem jeziku v knjigi po poenotenju slovenske knjižne norme ne razlaga za jezikovno zablodo in odklon od pozitivne razvojne smeri slovenskega jezika, ampak njegovo držo sociolingvistično analizira in jo pokaže v luči takrat še prikritih madžarizacijskih pritiskov: ne kot odločitev za Madžarsko in proti Sloveniji, ampak kot odločitev za preživetje protestantizma v Prekmurju. The monograph covers the most important chapters in the development of the Prekmurje language from its inception (Temlin, 1715) to the translation of Scripture (Š. KüzMIč, 1771), the Catholic continuation (M. Küzćim), and development in the 19th century. An important realization is that in the mid-19th century Prekmurje literary language was unified with the Central Slovenian language Monografija pokriva najpomembnejša poglavja iz razvoja prekmurskega jezika od njegovega nastanka (Temlin, 1715) do prevoda svetega pisma (Š. Küzmič, 1771), katoliškega nadaljevanja (M. Küzmič) in razvoja v 19. stoletju. Pomembno spoznanje je, da se je prekmurski knjižni jezik sredi 19. stoletja poenotil z osrednjeslovenskim

    Authors: Kustec, Simona;

    The material is primarily intended for students of the higher education and higher education program course of Career Development at the Faculty of Management of the University of Primorska. It is divided into three major sections, which include the theoretical, methodological and practical parts. The theoretical part presents basic definitions, history, theories and models. The second part of the material is based on numerous data facts and case descriptions from the so-called non-western parts of the world. The essential purpose of such an approach is to introduce students to the world of real day-to-day operations. The final part of the material serves to practically consolidate gained knowledge from previous chapters, also a set of basic international scientific and professional literature and resources in the field of career development is listed. Gradivo je v prvi vrsti namenjeno študentom višješolskega in visokošolskega programa pri predmetu Karierni razvoj na Fakulteti za management Univerze na Primorskem. Razdeljeno je v tri večje sklope, ki zajemajo teoretski, metodološki in praktični del. V teoretskem delu so predstavljene temeljne opredelitve, zgodovina, teorije in modeli. Drugi delu gradiva je oprt na številnih podatkovnih dejstvih ter opisih primerov iz t.i. nezahodnih predelov sveta. Bistveni namen takšnega pristopa je študente vpeljati v svet realnega vsakodnevnega delovanja. Kot zaključni del gradiva služijo temeljna navodila osnovnih vaj za utrjevanje predhodno prikazane snovi ter nabor izhodiščne mednarodne znanstvene ter strokovne literature in virov s področja kariernega razvoja.

    Authors: Toplak, Cirila;

    In the introduction, the author explains arguments in favour of considering Pavel Medvešček Klančar‘s ethnographic opus as an authentic source on Western Slovenian nature worshippers’ counterculture. She then argues for denomination “Western Slovenian Nature Worship” as opposed to “Old Believers from the Soča River region”. Next, she theorizes the Western Slovenian nature worshippers‘ community as potential primordial societal form and Foucauldian heterotopia. Central focus of the text is on specifics of territorial administration of the nature worshippers’ community, their political organisation as well as principal ideological elements of the nature worshippers‘ counterculture. In the conclusion, the author discusses the importance of nature worshippers‘ attitude towards nature and their governance system for the contemporary (Slovenian) society. Avtorica v prispevku uvodoma poda argumentacijo za obravnavo etnografskega gradiva Pavla Medveščka - Klančarja kot verodostojnega vira o zahodnoslovenski naravoverski kontrakulturi. Opredeli se do besedne zveze “posoško staroverstvo” oziroma “zahodnoslovensko naravoverstvo”. Zahodnoslovensko naravoversko skupnost nato teoretizira kot potencialno prvotno obliko družbenosti in foucaultovsko heterotopijo. V jedru prispevka analizira specifike teritorialne administracije in politične organiziranosti ter predstavi poglavitne ideološke prvine naravoverske kontrakulture. V sklepu naslovi pomen odnosa naravovercev do narave in naravoverskega sistema vodenja za sodobno (slovensko) družbo.

    One of the most acclaimed Eastern European directors of the late 1960s, Miklos Jancsó became known for his abstract long-take style which explored the intersections of power, politics, history, and myth. (“Radical form in the service of radical content,” as the Village Voice film critic, James Hoberman, put it back then.) Now that the Beacon Cinema in Columbia City is hosting a retrospective of six of his films (including Red Psalm, which won him the best director prize at the 1972 Cannes Film Festival), Red May has invited three film scholars--Eszter Polonyi, Zoran Samardzija, and Steven Shaviro—to discuss Jancsó’s boldly stylized film language with Tommy Swenson, Film Curator of the Beacon Cinema

    Authors: Polonyi, Eszter;

    In an era of total surveillance, being in possession of a biometric ID document can still result in denial of one’s basic civil protections and human rights. The discovery of systematic errors in state-implemented facial recognition programs—such as in recognizing faces of color (Joy Buolamwini)—suggests the failure of current practices of global intelligence and mobility. This paper offers an archaeological investigation of the contemporary photo ID document. Returning to its invention in the 1920s, it examines the issues of conjectural knowledge (Carl Ginzburg), embodiment or tact (Béla Balázs) and the optical unconscious (Walter Benjamin) behind early “physiognomic” media.

    Covid-19 je na svetovni ravni okrepil državni nadzor, vse pogosteje moramo posegati po osebnih dokumentih, pri čemer je osrednji subjekt identifikacije postal človeški obraz – na katerem temeljijo tudi najnovejše tehnologije nadzora.

    Authors: Polonyi, Eszter;

    The book Photography Off the Scale: Technologies and Theories of the Mass Image is, first of all, about quantities. Those with memories of pre-smartphone years may suspect that the images of this world have increased in number. Perhaps fewer, however, are aware of just how much. Among the first things we learn in this book is that, in 2018, over 30 million images were uploaded to Twitter, 52 million to Instagram, and 350 million to Facebook — daily (25). For someone who makes a handful of uploads a week, this was news. Who could possibly be looking at them? It turns out, no one. Even if everyone on Earth spent eight hours scrolling through images, they would not all get seen (25). The quantities are just too large. This book claims that the now unconscionable scale at which images circulate and are produced is because they are actually no longer tailored to the human. Interrogating an optics of “ec- centric metrics” (Dvořák), the book tackles one of the liveliest issues in image studies, media studies, and art history today — machine vision, or the vision of the human eye as it is extended by technical apparatuses. It is this seeing “by other means” that the book alleges has thrown the number of images “off the scale.”

    Authors: Jesenšek, Marko;

    in Prekmurje, such natural development was embraced by Catholic writers, while Protestants persisted in provincialism until the end of World War I.

    Authors: Kustec, Simona;

    Authors: Toplak, Cirila;

    Authors: Polonyi, Eszter;

    Authors: Polonyi, Eszter;
