The SSHOC cluster project (Social Sciences and Humanities Open Cloud) is a contribution to the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC). It particularly addresses the requirements of the Social Sciences and Humanities (SSH) research community. An important goal of the project is to deliver the SSH Open Marketplace (https://sshopencloud.eu/ssh-open-marketplace) as discovery portal and comprehensive information hub for the SSH research community comprising tools, services, training materials and other resources. Our involvement in the cluster project helps DARIAH communities to build one of the four pillars of the DARIAH Strategic Plan 2019–2026 by “building the Marketplace as a humanist-friendly component of the European Open Science Cloud”. Since the beginning of the SSHOC project (in January 2019), important steps have been achieved, like the definition of the system specification for the SSH Open Marketplace, and community needs were central concerns in this process. SSHOC follows an agile development approach with user feedback from the very beginning and feedback loops in-between. An alpha release of the portal was released in June 2020 and will be followed by the beta release of a fully-functional SSH Open Marketplace in December 2020. The operational version of the portal will be launched in December 2021. This DARIAH public demonstration is one in a series of events implementing a participatory-design approach and aims at encouraging and enabling valuable feedback for the refinement of the concept and development of the SSH Open Marketplace. The audience of the DARIAH Annual Event – humanities scholars and/or DARIAH Working Group members, NCCs, members of DARIAH Scientific Board – is a perfect multiplier for us to receive feedback from the Arts & Humanities research community at large. This demo presentation was recorded during the DARIAH Virtual Annual Event 2020.

Data from focus group conducted for DiXiT - Digital Scholarly Editions Initial Training Network. We are studying the use of digital scholarly editions, by observing what users do in interaction with different editions. For this analysis, we chose three digital scholarly editions, designed tasks specific to these editions, confronted typical users with these tasks, and analysed the quality of use in relation to efficiency and effectiveness. The research leading to these results has received funding from the People Programme (Marie Curie Actions) of the European Union's Seventh Framework Programme FP7/2007-2013/ under REA grant agreement n° 317436.

D-Net Software Toolikt The D-NET Software Toolkit is a system that offers functionalities for the collection (“harvesting”), transformation, aggregation, and indexing of metadata records collected from an arbitrary number of data sources, complying with different protocols and data exchange formats. D-NET sets a workflow language, which developers can use to combine a variety of D-NET data management services, configure them to handle data according to given data models, and pipeline them into autonomic data processing workflows. This software package is a simplified version of the D-Net toolkit and consists of a web application with a minimal set of services for: Collection of metadata records in oai_dc format via OAI-PMH, FTP, local file system, HTTP. Transformation of the collected metadata records into an internal format named DMF (Driver Metadata Format) Indexing of DMF records in a Solr full-text index OAI-PMH export of aggregated metadata records in DMF and oai_dc formats. More formats can be added at runtime by providing a dedicated XSLT from DMF to the desired target format.
