libEscansión is a state-of-the-art Python library for analysing Spanish mixed verses. It parses the verse to find syllabic nuclei, rhythmic pattern, assonance, and consonance, as well as to provide a phonological transcription of the syllables. It scores 98.64% accuracy against the manually annotated corpus [ADSO 100] with the option adso=True, which forces considering interjections as non-stressed to meet ADSO's annotation criteria. This tops the until-now state-of-the-art. Nevertheless, vanilla scansion – i.e., stressing interjections – still outperforms the state-of-the art, achieving 97.01% accuracy. Furthermore, after evaluating the corpus' manual scansion and spelling, we found that the disagreement was in most cases due to an improper spelling or even to non-standard human analysis (unstressed interjections, adverbd in -mente lacking secondary stress, etc.). With a corrected corpus, the agreement reaches 99.13 %, being the resting 0.87% non-erroneus disagreements.

Data citation plays a crucial role in Open Science, especially in diverse domains like cultural heritage. With its inherently interdisciplinary nature, establishing a robust methodology for data citation becomes essential. This methodology not only aids in identification and attribution but also fosters integration across disciplines. The ongoing project “A FAIR-enabling citation model for Cultural Heritage Objects”, funded by the European Union's Horizon 2020 program, aims to design a sustainable and FAIR-enabled citation model for cultural heritage objects (CHO), emphasizing the multidimensional nature of citation within this context. Supported by EOSC Future and the Research Data Alliance, this project engages in a series of activities to develop and assess its citation model, leveraging specific case studies.

This paper scrutinizes the entangled encounters between the early twentieth-century Japanese cultural theorist Okakura Kakuzō 岡倉覚三 (1863–1913), Euro-American Orientalist cultural norms, and Islam. It argues that Okakura overlooked Islam as a dominant religion in Asia. While Okakura questioned the existential justification of Japanese visual culture and its ambiguous position between East and West at the turn of the twentieth century, he viewed Islam through a Christian ideological lens and positioned it in binary opposition to polytheistic beliefs in Asia, chiefly Buddhism. Okakura’s failure to embrace Islam as a religion of Asia was therefore due to the fact that Islam emerged in Europe during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries as part of the universal category of "world religions," and was not properly understood as an indigenous tradition of the non-Western world alongside Buddhism and Hinduism. Evidently, words can have multiple senses. For example, the word mess refers to a place to have food or to a confusing situation. How exactly multiple senses emerge is less clear. In this work, we propose and analyze a mathematical model of the evolution of lexical meaning to investigate mechanisms leading to polysemy. This model features factors that have been discussed to impact the semantic processing and transmission of words: word frequency, non-conformism, and semantic discriminability. We formally derive conditions under which a sense of a word tends to diversify itself into multiple senses that coexist stably. The model predicts that diversification is promoted by low frequency, a strong bias for non-conformist usage, and high semantic discriminability. We statistically validate these predictions with historical language data covering semantic developments of a set of English words. Multiple alternative measures are used to operationalize each variable involved, and we confirm the predicted tendencies for twelve combinations of measures.

This article traces juridical elements in the monologues of Melibea, Calisto and Pleberio in order to elaborate on the negotiations between old and new law and —on an allegorical level— old and re/new/ed faith as major topics of the tragicomedia. In a further step, I will connect this text-based analysis to the material culture of the early book in Spain, insofar as the production of printing shops in Salamanca and Burgos evidences a variety of texts with a similar preoccupation for legal reforms. This reveals the embeddedness of the Celestina in a network of European humanism. The re-occurrence of blind Justice as a key trope in such contemporaneous texts could shed new light on discussions about the authorship of the Celestina by reconciling different approaches.

In this work we present the application of the global-phase seismic interferometry (GloPSI) technique to a dataset recorded across the Eastern Alps with the EASI (Eastern Alpine Seismic Investigation) temporary seismic network. GloPSI aims at rendering an image of the lithosphere from the waves that travel across the core before reaching the seismic stations (i.e. PKP, PKiKP, PKIKP). The technique is based on the principle that a stack of autocorrelations of transmission responses mimics the reflection response of a medium and is used here to retrieve information about the crust-mantle boundary, such as its depth and topography. We produce images of the upper lithosphere using 64 teleseismic events. We notice that with GloPSI, we can well image the topography of the Moho in regions where it shows a nearly planar behaviour and corresponds to a strong velocity contrast (i.e. in the northern part of the profile, from the Bohemian Massif to the Northern Calcareous Alps). Below the higher crests of the Alpine chain, and the Tauern Window in particular, we cannot find evidence of the boundary between crust and mantle. The GloPSI results indicate the absence of an Adriatic crust made of laterally continuous layers smoothly descending southwards and confirm the observations of previous studies suggesting a structurally complex and faulted internal Alpine crustal structure.
