    Em plena transição digital, na qual o património digital emerge como resposta a uma necessidade de preservação e gestão da informação cultural numa era de produção acelerada e desregulada, o mapeamento cultural destaca-se como abordagem agregadora e multidisciplinar que convoca à participação. Neste contexto, o design afirma-se como mediador entre múltiplas disciplinas, tornando-se cada vez menos centralizado na materialização de objetos como finalidade, em favor da implementação de processos de cocriação e ativação de sistemas sociotécnicos que congregam pessoas, contextos e tecnologia. Neste âmbito, destaca-se a preservação e dinamização do património cultural, que tem vindo a estar institucionalmente a cargo dos museus, bibliotecas e arquivos, responsáveis pela recolha, preservação e disponibilização à comunidade. O presente artigo evidencia o impacto da digitalização da cultura e das políticas de acesso aberto nas instituições da memória, em termos de gestão das coleções e de experiências de fruição dentro e fora das instituições com recurso à tecnologia, bem como apresenta metodologias de participação ativa de comunidades na documentação e salvaguarda do património cultural imaterial, com destaque para várias iniciativas, em particular desenvolvidas em Portugal. Amidst the digital transition, where digital heritage comes to meet the need for preserving and managing cultural information in an era of accelerated and unregulated production, cultural mapping emerges as an aggregating and multidisciplinary approach that calls for participation. In this context, design stands out as a mediator between multiple disciplines, becoming less centred on the materialisation of objects as a purpose, favouring the implementation of co-creation processes and the activation of socio-technical systems connecting people, contexts and technology. Within this background, we highlight the preservation and promotion of cultural heritage, which has been institutionally held by museums, libraries and archives, responsible for collecting, preserving and making it available to the community. This article highlights the impact of the digitisation of culture and the open access policies in memory institutions regarding managing collections and fruition experiences through technology inside and outside the institutions. It also presents participatory methodologies with communities taking an active role in the documentation and safeguarding of intangible cultural heritage, and also highlighting some relevant initiatives, particularly developed in Portugal.

    International audience; Member towns of the international network of slow cities are recent examples of the working out of development approaches that aim to involve local communities in the maintenance of the unique environmental and cultural heritage of individual locations. Formalised as Cittaslow, over the last two decades these towns are having to respond to a range of issues brought on by the increasing pace of life associated with globalisation and, conversely, stagnation due to being by-passed by footloose capital. The charter requirements of Cittaslow offer a means by which third-tier towns may address sustainable development. Having bought into the ideas for action promoted by Cittaslow International, ten towns in the UK have worked towards developing support in the community for a package of complex, connected technical measures. They have done so over a period marked by a shift from government to governance, and in an economic climate characterised by austerity. Evidence from local government officers points to the challenges of maintaining support for a view of sustainable development formulated elsewhere and which many people find hard to grasp. Quality of life and local uniqueness are nonetheless broad goals, around which communities can be anticipated to continue to organise in processes of governance for sustainable development.; Les villes membres du réseau international des villes lentes sont des exemples récents de l’élaboration d'approches de développement qui visent à impliquer les communautés locales dans la préservation du patrimoine environnemental et culturel unique à une ville. Formalisée sous le nom de Cittaslow au cours des deux dernières décennies, ces villes ont dû répondre à un éventail de problèmes provoqués par le rythme de vie croissant associé à la mondialisation et, inversement, à la stagnation et au désinvestissement. Les exigences de la charte de Cittaslow offrent aux petites villes un moyen d’aborder le développement durable. Après avoir adhéré aux idées d’action promues par Cittaslow International, dix villes du Royaume-Uni ont travaillé à développer le soutien de la communauté pour un ensemble de mesures techniques complexes et interconnectées. Ceci a été effectué dans une période marquée par un passage du gouvernement à la gouvernance, et dans un climat économique caractérisé par l’austérité. Les témoignages fournis par les fonctionnaires locaux mettent en évidence le défi de maintenir un soutien à une vision du développement durable formulée ailleurs et que beaucoup de gens ont du mal à saisir. La qualité de vie et l’unicité locale sont néanmoins des objectifs larges, autour desquels on peut s’attendre à ce que les communautés continuent à s'organiser pour le développement durable.

    A Universidade de Coimbra exercia um claro fascínio nas gerações sucessivas de estudantes, que viam nela a instituição das futuras elites e, mesmo, da ascensão ao poder. Quem eram os estudantes de Coimbra? Quem era a mocidade académica? Que motivações a estimulavam? O quadro do universo estudantil de 1772 a 1910 é analisado em diferentes vertentes, tendo em conta as conjunturas, os perfis socioeconómicos dos alunos, evidenciando as continuidades e descontinuidades ou mesmo ruturas nos percursos escolares. O estudante universitário era, no período em análise, essencialmente de origem burguesa, daí que a Universidade fosse classista. A indicação da origem geográfica e social, das práticas quotidianas, da vivência facetada dos estudantes permite, com base nas fontes utilizadas, espelhar o perfil do estudante, a sua ligação à vida universitária e urbana, a sua força social e política. The University of Coimbra played a huge fascination over the generations of students who saw it as the institution of the upcoming elites and, even, of the uprising power. Who were the students of Coimbra? Who was the academic youth? Which motivations stimulated them? The students’ universe from 1772 to 1910 is analysed in different strands, considering the context and the socioeconomic profiles of the students, highlighting the continuities, discontinuities and even ruptures of their school paths. The university student was, in the analysed period, essentially of bourgeois origin, and the university was, therefore, class-based. The reference to the social and geographical origin, daily practices and life experience of the students allows to profile the students, their connection to both the university and the urban life, and their social and political strength. L’Université de Coimbra exerça une véritable fascination sur les générations successives d’étudiants qui voyaient en elle l’institution formant les futures élites et les préparant à monter au pouvoir. Qui donc étaient les étudiants de Coimbra ? Qu’était la jeunesse académique ? Quelles en étaient les aspirations ? Nous étudions l’univers des étudiants de 1771 à 1910 sous ses divers aspects, prenant en considération les conjonctures, les profils socio-économiques, mettant en évidence les continuités et les discontinuités, voire les ruptures dans les parcours. L’étudiant était, durant cette période, essentiellement d’origine bourgeoise, ce qui explique que l’Université fût attachée aux classes privilégiées. L’analyse de l’origine géographique et sociale, des pratiques quotidiennes, du vécu varié des étudiants permet, d’après les sources utilisées, d’apercevoir l’interaction de l’Université avec la vie publique, le lien de l’étudiant à la vie universitaire et urbaine, du citoyen à la politique.

    Timor-Leste has endured different foreign presences: the Portuguese colonisation (1515-1974), the Indonesian military occupation (1974-1999) and, since the restoration of the national independence (2002) which has been defined the “NGOs invasion” (Brunnstrom, 2003). These different governances have produced various Authorised Heritage Discourses – AHD (Smith, 2006) whose echoes are traceable in the current national AHD. This paper, based on 15 months of ethnographic fieldwork, shows the entanglements between the previous colonial AHDs and the current one in Timor-Leste, in regard to ancestral houses (uma lulik). The aim is to examine heritage as a historical process by showing how the current post-colonial AHD is affected by the inference of the past and colonial perspectives on the local heritage, producing and reproducing neo-colonial governmentalities. Timor-Leste sofreu a presença de diferentes poderes estrangeiros: a colonização portuguesa (1515-1974), a ocupação militar indonésia (1974-1999) e, desde a restauração da independência nacional (2002), uma “invasão de ONG”, como foi definido por Brunnstrom (2003). Estas diferentes administrações produziram vários Discursos Autorizados de Património – DAP (Smith, 2006), cujo eco ressoa no atual DAP nacional. Este trabalho, baseado numa etnografia de 15 meses, analisa os envolvimentos entre os anteriores DAP coloniais e o atual em Timor-Leste, relativo às uma lulik (casas ancestrais). Pretende-se analisar o património como um processo histórico, mostrando como o atual DAP pós-colonial é influenciado pelas inferências das perspetivas passadas sobre o património local, produzindo e reproduzindo governamentalidades neocoloniais.

    O campo do patrimônio cultural, apesar do seu histórico relacionado ao contexto colonial e à estruturação associada ao poder socioeconômico, tem vindo ocupar um lugar de centralidade crescente na construção de equilíbrios sociais e de formas de sustentabilidade que valorizam o conhecimento da experiência. Nessa dinâmica, a aprovação da Convenção para a Salvaguarda do Patrimônio Cultural Imaterial (2003) desempenhou um papel importante no reconhecimento dos saberes locais, dos/as seus/suas protagonistas e da sua participação nos processos de inventariação do patrimônio imaterial em prol de uma gestão mais democrática e mais humana do patrimônio. Neste artigo analisamos a dimensão participativa de dois processos de patrimonialização focando a atenção nas dinâmicas utilizadas ao longo dos processos de inventário participativo. Trata-se das Matrizes do Samba, no Rio de Janeiro (Brasil), e do Kola San Jon, na Amadora (Portugal). Com esse objetivo, analisamos as respectivas políticas públicas, o modo como cada um desses processos aconteceu no Brasil e em Portugal e estruturamos, com base em trabalhos de autores/as de referência na teoria da participação, uma ferramenta de análise que permite identificar a natureza participativa e avaliar a qualidade da ação coletiva em cada uma das fases do inventário. Finalmente, apresentamos um conjunto de recomendações que nos aproximam do princípio e das práticas da investigação socialmente responsável, e com o que pretendemos contribuir para a construção de processos mais participativos e mais democráticos no âmbito da gestão da dimensão imaterial das nossas culturas. The field of cultural heritage has come to occupy a place of increasing centrality in the construction of social balance and sustainability in ways that value the knowledges coming from local experience. In this context, the adoption of a Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage (2003) played an important role in the recognition of local knowledges, of their protagonists and their participation in the process of inventorying of the intangible heritage in favor of a more democratic and more human management of heritage. The aim of this article is to analyze the participatory dimension of two heritagisation processes focusing on the dynamics used during the participatory inventory process. These are the Arrays of Samba in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) and Kola San Jon, in Amadora (Portugal). With this goal we analyze the public policies in both countries, as well as the way in which each of these processes has been experienced in Brazil and in Portugal. We create a tool that allows us to identify the participatory nature and assess the quality of the collective action in each of the phases of the inventory. Finally, we present a set of recommendations that approach the principles and practices of socially responsible research. We hope to contribute to the construction of more participatory and more democratic processes within the management of the intangible dimension of our cultures. published

    The category of intangible cultural heritage (ICH), recently institutionalized by several countries (2000, in the case of Brazil) and, internationally, by Unesco (2003), requires the participation of groups and communities in the identification, safeguarding and maintenance of their heritage. Due to the recent nature of these policies, there is still only a small number of studies examining the levels and strategies of participation used in determining ICH. More recently, Rodney Harrison (2013) argued that is important to study not only the participation of humans in heritage processes, but also, especially in indigenous contexts, the participation of nonhumans. In order to contribute to these discussions, the article describes and analyzes the patrimonialization of the ruins of the São Miguel Jesuit-Guarani Missions, located in the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul, as “Tava, Place of Reference for the Guarani People”. The process lasted a decade and initially encountered some resistance from the Guarani. However, the establishment of reciprocity and affinity relations between indigenous and non-indigenous agents, the recognition of ICH’s political potential and the influence of spiritual aspects, including nonhumans, promoted the participation of the Guarani, who proved to be essential actors for the identification and registration of the cultural landmark in 2014. A categoria de património cultural imaterial (PCI), institucionalizada no início deste século por diversos países (no ano 2000, no caso do Brasil) e, a nível internacional, pela Unesco (2003), exige a participação dos grupos e comunidades detentores dos bens culturais na sua identificação, salvaguarda e manutenção. Devido ao carácter recente destas políticas patrimoniais, ainda existe um número reduzido de estudos que reflitam sobre os níveis e estratégias de participação utilizados no PCI. Mais recentemente, Rodney Harrison (2013) defendeu a importância de não só estudar a participação de humanos nos processos patrimoniais, mas também, nomeadamente, em contextos indígenas, de não humanos. Com o intuito de contribuir para estas discussões, o artigo descreve e analisa a patrimonialização das ruínas da Missão Jesuítico-Guarani de São Miguel, localizadas no estado brasileiro de Rio Grande do Sul, enquanto “Tava, Lugar de Referência para o Povo Guarani”. O processo durou uma década e encontrou inicialmente diversas resistências por parte dos Guarani. Contudo, o estabelecimento de relações de reciprocidade e de afinidade entre agentes indígenas e não indígenas, o reconhecimento das potencialidades políticas do PCI e a influência de aspetos de ordem espiritual, incluindo de não humanos, promoveram a participação dos Guarani, que demonstraram ser atores essenciais para a identificação e registo do bem cultural em 2014.

    International audience; When it comes to Early Middle Ages, literature tends to associate canons with common life, and even to define those referred to as canonici in the sources as clerics living a community life, and therefore distinct from the rest of the clergy. This association derives from the great Carolingian normative texts, first of all the institutio canonicorum from 816, which required that those “canonical clerics” lived a common life. But what was the actual situation on the ground some two centuries after the carolingian redefinition of the vita canonica? Did those communities identified as canonical practice the common life on the eve of the Gregorian reform? And if so, in what form? This issue is more often than not hard to answer for that period, because of data scarcity and imprecision. Italian archives, however, given their richness, allow a more precise grasp of the concrete modalities of the common life in the main urban canonicae (cathedral chapter and of collegiate churches). Those cases, presumably reflecting similar phenomena more difficult to observe in other European regions, show that the way of life followed by canons in the Italian kingdom’s was very heterogeneous in the first half of the 11th c. ; and thus despite the attempts of several bishops of the 980’s-1040’s to reinforce communal life in their churches. A range and gradation of practices appear according to location, revealing different views of the common life and of its importance or lack thereof for the clergy’s elevation and the service of the community of the faithful.; La littérature scientifique relative au haut Moyen Âge a tendance à associer chanoines et vie commune, voire à définir ceux que les sources désignent par le terme de canonici comme des clercs vivant en communauté, par opposition au reste du clergé. Cette association dérive des grands textes normatifs carolingiens, à commencer par l’institutio canonicorum de 816, qui voulaient que ces clercs « canoniques » mènent la vie commune, sur le modèle monastique. Mais qu’en était-il dans les faits quelque deux siècles après la redéfinition carolingienne de la vita canonica ? Pratiquait-on la vie commune dans les communautés qui se reconnaissaient comme canoniales à l’aube de la réforme grégorienne ? Et si oui, sous quelle forme ? Les sources diplomatiques italiennes, par leur richesse, permettent d’approcher d’un peu plus près les modalités concrètes de la vie commune dans les principales canonicae urbaines (chapitres cathédraux et de grandes collégiales). Ces exemples, susceptibles d’éclairer en partie des phénomènes qui se laissent moins bien apprécier dans d’autres régions d’Europe, témoignent avant tout de l’hétérogénéité du mode de vie canonial dans le royaume d’Italie à la veille du moment grégorien, en dépit des efforts d’un certain nombre d’évêques pour renforcer les pratiques communautaires des canonici de leurs églises dans les années 980-1040. Un éventail typologique de formes de vie se dessine selon les cités, reflets de positionnements différents quant à la vie commune et à son importance pour l’élévation des clercs et le service à la communauté des fidèles.

    O projeto de investigação “(Re)criar o Património – Caracterização de Problemáticas e Tendências para a Curadoria de Residências Artísticas em Portugal” tem como objetivo principal o levantamento de práticas na programação e curadoria de residências artísticas, orientadas para o estudo e/ou valorização do património, em Portugal, na atualidade. Neste contexto, são apresentados os resultados preliminares da análise de 58 programas ou iniciativas de residência artística com estas características, dinamizados, na abrangência do território nacional, entre os anos de 2004 e 2020. A análise de resultados é precedida de um breve enquadramento do projeto ao nível de problemáticas identificadas, no cruzamento entre os campos disciplinares dos estudos de património e estudos artísticos, com enfoque em recentes estudos e doscumentos orientadores, produzidos em contexto português. Discutem-se, ainda, os constrangimentos provocados pela pandemia COVID-19 no que diz respeito ao desenvolvimento do projeto, e, numa outra escala, sobre a programação de residências artísticas. Perspetivamos estratégias de futuro, evidenciando o papel dos museus enquanto promotores deste tipo de iniciativas e enquanto possível interface para a participação (cultural), a nível local. The research project “(Re)creating Heritage” aims to identify contemporary practices and trends in cultural programming of heritage-based artist-in-residence initiatives. In this short article, we will discuss the preliminary findings from a survey on 58 Portuguese artist-in-residence programmes developed from 2004 to 2020. The discussion is preceded by a brief problematization, placing the project at the intersection between heritage studies and artistic studies. The constraints caused by COVID-19 pandemic to the project are explored, including the impact on the programming of artistic residencies. We highlight the importance of museums as promoters of artist-in-residence programmes, as a way to increase participation of local publics and communities in post-pandemic times.

    La dissolution de la vie commune, dans le cadre d’une économie monétarisée, accompagne des évolutions institutionnelles comme le développement du système bénéficial et l’apparition de nouveaux modes de rémunération. Au sein des communautés canoniales prennent place la distribution attachée à une récitation de prière puis le paiement à l’acte de la célébration d’une messe, ce qui permet de les multiplier. Dans les paroisses, le desservant assure en grande partie sa subsistance par la perception des offrandes désormais tarifées du casuel. La figure du prêtre s’individualise dans un statut social défini par son utilité au service de tous, notamment la célébration des messes pour les morts. La personne du Christ tend à remplacer l’apôtre comme le modèle auquel il doit conformer sa vie et son action. Pourtant, la vie commune reste vers 1500 un idéal inspirant encore certaines pratiques des milieux canoniaux, pratiques qui maintiennent également leur présence dans les cours, les fermes, les ateliers ou les chantiers, limitant ainsi l’expansion de la rémunération à l’acte. Within the monetarism economics frame, shared life dissolution comes with institutional evolutions such as the development of beneficium and the appearance of new pay modes. Inside canon communities the presence at prayer recitations give rise to fees and individual mass celebrations give rise to direct payments which allows their multiplication. In parish greater part of the curate income results from, henceforth chargeable, offerings. The figure of the priest stands out in a social status defined by its assistance to all, especially by mass celebrations for the deads. The priest model shifts from apostle to Christ figure to which life and acts must conform. However, around 1500 the shared life ideal yet inspires to canons the upholding of some practices such as farming, workshops or constructions works, which are also maintained in courts. This limits the growth of remuneration by wages.

    Em plena transição digital, na qual o património digital emerge como resposta a uma necessidade de preservação e gestão da informação cultural numa era de produção acelerada e desregulada, o mapeamento cultural destaca-se como abordagem agregadora e multidisciplinar que convoca à participação. Neste contexto, o design afirma-se como mediador entre múltiplas disciplinas, tornando-se cada vez menos centralizado na materialização de objetos como finalidade, em favor da implementação de processos de cocriação e ativação de sistemas sociotécnicos que congregam pessoas, contextos e tecnologia. Neste âmbito, destaca-se a preservação e dinamização do património cultural, que tem vindo a estar institucionalmente a cargo dos museus, bibliotecas e arquivos, responsáveis pela recolha, preservação e disponibilização à comunidade. O presente artigo evidencia o impacto da digitalização da cultura e das políticas de acesso aberto nas instituições da memória, em termos de gestão das coleções e de experiências de fruição dentro e fora das instituições com recurso à tecnologia, bem como apresenta metodologias de participação ativa de comunidades na documentação e salvaguarda do património cultural imaterial, com destaque para várias iniciativas, em particular desenvolvidas em Portugal. Amidst the digital transition, where digital heritage comes to meet the need for preserving and managing cultural information in an era of accelerated and unregulated production, cultural mapping emerges as an aggregating and multidisciplinary approach that calls for participation. In this context, design stands out as a mediator between multiple disciplines, becoming less centred on the materialisation of objects as a purpose, favouring the implementation of co-creation processes and the activation of socio-technical systems connecting people, contexts and technology. Within this background, we highlight the preservation and promotion of cultural heritage, which has been institutionally held by museums, libraries and archives, responsible for collecting, preserving and making it available to the community. This article highlights the impact of the digitisation of culture and the open access policies in memory institutions regarding managing collections and fruition experiences through technology inside and outside the institutions. It also presents participatory methodologies with communities taking an active role in the documentation and safeguarding of intangible cultural heritage, and also highlighting some relevant initiatives, particularly developed in Portugal.

    International audience; Member towns of the international network of slow cities are recent examples of the working out of development approaches that aim to involve local communities in the maintenance of the unique environmental and cultural heritage of individual locations. Formalised as Cittaslow, over the last two decades these towns are having to respond to a range of issues brought on by the increasing pace of life associated with globalisation and, conversely, stagnation due to being by-passed by footloose capital. The charter requirements of Cittaslow offer a means by which third-tier towns may address sustainable development. Having bought into the ideas for action promoted by Cittaslow International, ten towns in the UK have worked towards developing support in the community for a package of complex, connected technical measures. They have done so over a period marked by a shift from government to governance, and in an economic climate characterised by austerity. Evidence from local government officers points to the challenges of maintaining support for a view of sustainable development formulated elsewhere and which many people find hard to grasp. Quality of life and local uniqueness are nonetheless broad goals, around which communities can be anticipated to continue to organise in processes of governance for sustainable development.; Les villes membres du réseau international des villes lentes sont des exemples récents de l’élaboration d'approches de développement qui visent à impliquer les communautés locales dans la préservation du patrimoine environnemental et culturel unique à une ville. Formalisée sous le nom de Cittaslow au cours des deux dernières décennies, ces villes ont dû répondre à un éventail de problèmes provoqués par le rythme de vie croissant associé à la mondialisation et, inversement, à la stagnation et au désinvestissement. Les exigences de la charte de Cittaslow offrent aux petites villes un moyen d’aborder le développement durable. Après avoir adhéré aux idées d’action promues par Cittaslow International, dix villes du Royaume-Uni ont travaillé à développer le soutien de la communauté pour un ensemble de mesures techniques complexes et interconnectées. Ceci a été effectué dans une période marquée par un passage du gouvernement à la gouvernance, et dans un climat économique caractérisé par l’austérité. Les témoignages fournis par les fonctionnaires locaux mettent en évidence le défi de maintenir un soutien à une vision du développement durable formulée ailleurs et que beaucoup de gens ont du mal à saisir. La qualité de vie et l’unicité locale sont néanmoins des objectifs larges, autour desquels on peut s’attendre à ce que les communautés continuent à s'organiser pour le développement durable.

    A Universidade de Coimbra exercia um claro fascínio nas gerações sucessivas de estudantes, que viam nela a instituição das futuras elites e, mesmo, da ascensão ao poder. Quem eram os estudantes de Coimbra? Quem era a mocidade académica? Que motivações a estimulavam? O quadro do universo estudantil de 1772 a 1910 é analisado em diferentes vertentes, tendo em conta as conjunturas, os perfis socioeconómicos dos alunos, evidenciando as continuidades e descontinuidades ou mesmo ruturas nos percursos escolares. O estudante universitário era, no período em análise, essencialmente de origem burguesa, daí que a Universidade fosse classista. A indicação da origem geográfica e social, das práticas quotidianas, da vivência facetada dos estudantes permite, com base nas fontes utilizadas, espelhar o perfil do estudante, a sua ligação à vida universitária e urbana, a sua força social e política. The University of Coimbra played a huge fascination over the generations of students who saw it as the institution of the upcoming elites and, even, of the uprising power. Who were the students of Coimbra? Who was the academic youth? Which motivations stimulated them? The students’ universe from 1772 to 1910 is analysed in different strands, considering the context and the socioeconomic profiles of the students, highlighting the continuities, discontinuities and even ruptures of their school paths. The university student was, in the analysed period, essentially of bourgeois origin, and the university was, therefore, class-based. The reference to the social and geographical origin, daily practices and life experience of the students allows to profile the students, their connection to both the university and the urban life, and their social and political strength. L’Université de Coimbra exerça une véritable fascination sur les générations successives d’étudiants qui voyaient en elle l’institution formant les futures élites et les préparant à monter au pouvoir. Qui donc étaient les étudiants de Coimbra ? Qu’était la jeunesse académique ? Quelles en étaient les aspirations ? Nous étudions l’univers des étudiants de 1771 à 1910 sous ses divers aspects, prenant en considération les conjonctures, les profils socio-économiques, mettant en évidence les continuités et les discontinuités, voire les ruptures dans les parcours. L’étudiant était, durant cette période, essentiellement d’origine bourgeoise, ce qui explique que l’Université fût attachée aux classes privilégiées. L’analyse de l’origine géographique et sociale, des pratiques quotidiennes, du vécu varié des étudiants permet, d’après les sources utilisées, d’apercevoir l’interaction de l’Université avec la vie publique, le lien de l’étudiant à la vie universitaire et urbaine, du citoyen à la politique.

    Timor-Leste has endured different foreign presences: the Portuguese colonisation (1515-1974), the Indonesian military occupation (1974-1999) and, since the restoration of the national independence (2002) which has been defined the “NGOs invasion” (Brunnstrom, 2003). These different governances have produced various Authorised Heritage Discourses – AHD (Smith, 2006) whose echoes are traceable in the current national AHD. This paper, based on 15 months of ethnographic fieldwork, shows the entanglements between the previous colonial AHDs and the current one in Timor-Leste, in regard to ancestral houses (uma lulik). The aim is to examine heritage as a historical process by showing how the current post-colonial AHD is affected by the inference of the past and colonial perspectives on the local heritage, producing and reproducing neo-colonial governmentalities. Timor-Leste sofreu a presença de diferentes poderes estrangeiros: a colonização portuguesa (1515-1974), a ocupação militar indonésia (1974-1999) e, desde a restauração da independência nacional (2002), uma “invasão de ONG”, como foi definido por Brunnstrom (2003). Estas diferentes administrações produziram vários Discursos Autorizados de Património – DAP (Smith, 2006), cujo eco ressoa no atual DAP nacional. Este trabalho, baseado numa etnografia de 15 meses, analisa os envolvimentos entre os anteriores DAP coloniais e o atual em Timor-Leste, relativo às uma lulik (casas ancestrais). Pretende-se analisar o património como um processo histórico, mostrando como o atual DAP pós-colonial é influenciado pelas inferências das perspetivas passadas sobre o património local, produzindo e reproduzindo governamentalidades neocoloniais.

    O campo do patrimônio cultural, apesar do seu histórico relacionado ao contexto colonial e à estruturação associada ao poder socioeconômico, tem vindo ocupar um lugar de centralidade crescente na construção de equilíbrios sociais e de formas de sustentabilidade que valorizam o conhecimento da experiência. Nessa dinâmica, a aprovação da Convenção para a Salvaguarda do Patrimônio Cultural Imaterial (2003) desempenhou um papel importante no reconhecimento dos saberes locais, dos/as seus/suas protagonistas e da sua participação nos processos de inventariação do patrimônio imaterial em prol de uma gestão mais democrática e mais humana do patrimônio. Neste artigo analisamos a dimensão participativa de dois processos de patrimonialização focando a atenção nas dinâmicas utilizadas ao longo dos processos de inventário participativo. Trata-se das Matrizes do Samba, no Rio de Janeiro (Brasil), e do Kola San Jon, na Amadora (Portugal). Com esse objetivo, analisamos as respectivas políticas públicas, o modo como cada um desses processos aconteceu no Brasil e em Portugal e estruturamos, com base em trabalhos de autores/as de referência na teoria da participação, uma ferramenta de análise que permite identificar a natureza participativa e avaliar a qualidade da ação coletiva em cada uma das fases do inventário. Finalmente, apresentamos um conjunto de recomendações que nos aproximam do princípio e das práticas da investigação socialmente responsável, e com o que pretendemos contribuir para a construção de processos mais participativos e mais democráticos no âmbito da gestão da dimensão imaterial das nossas culturas. The field of cultural heritage has come to occupy a place of increasing centrality in the construction of social balance and sustainability in ways that value the knowledges coming from local experience. In this context, the adoption of a Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage (2003) played an important role in the recognition of local knowledges, of their protagonists and their participation in the process of inventorying of the intangible heritage in favor of a more democratic and more human management of heritage. The aim of this article is to analyze the participatory dimension of two heritagisation processes focusing on the dynamics used during the participatory inventory process. These are the Arrays of Samba in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) and Kola San Jon, in Amadora (Portugal). With this goal we analyze the public policies in both countries, as well as the way in which each of these processes has been experienced in Brazil and in Portugal. We create a tool that allows us to identify the participatory nature and assess the quality of the collective action in each of the phases of the inventory. Finally, we present a set of recommendations that approach the principles and practices of socially responsible research. We hope to contribute to the construction of more participatory and more democratic processes within the management of the intangible dimension of our cultures. published

    The category of intangible cultural heritage (ICH), recently institutionalized by several countries (2000, in the case of Brazil) and, internationally, by Unesco (2003), requires the participation of groups and communities in the identification, safeguarding and maintenance of their heritage. Due to the recent nature of these policies, there is still only a small number of studies examining the levels and strategies of participation used in determining ICH. More recently, Rodney Harrison (2013) argued that is important to study not only the participation of humans in heritage processes, but also, especially in indigenous contexts, the participation of nonhumans. In order to contribute to these discussions, the article describes and analyzes the patrimonialization of the ruins of the São Miguel Jesuit-Guarani Missions, located in the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul, as “Tava, Place of Reference for the Guarani People”. The process lasted a decade and initially encountered some resistance from the Guarani. However, the establishment of reciprocity and affinity relations between indigenous and non-indigenous agents, the recognition of ICH’s political potential and the influence of spiritual aspects, including nonhumans, promoted the participation of the Guarani, who proved to be essential actors for the identification and registration of the cultural landmark in 2014. A categoria de património cultural imaterial (PCI), institucionalizada no início deste século por diversos países (no ano 2000, no caso do Brasil) e, a nível internacional, pela Unesco (2003), exige a participação dos grupos e comunidades detentores dos bens culturais na sua identificação, salvaguarda e manutenção. Devido ao carácter recente destas políticas patrimoniais, ainda existe um número reduzido de estudos que reflitam sobre os níveis e estratégias de participação utilizados no PCI. Mais recentemente, Rodney Harrison (2013) defendeu a importância de não só estudar a participação de humanos nos processos patrimoniais, mas também, nomeadamente, em contextos indígenas, de não humanos. Com o intuito de contribuir para estas discussões, o artigo descreve e analisa a patrimonialização das ruínas da Missão Jesuítico-Guarani de São Miguel, localizadas no estado brasileiro de Rio Grande do Sul, enquanto “Tava, Lugar de Referência para o Povo Guarani”. O processo durou uma década e encontrou inicialmente diversas resistências por parte dos Guarani. Contudo, o estabelecimento de relações de reciprocidade e de afinidade entre agentes indígenas e não indígenas, o reconhecimento das potencialidades políticas do PCI e a influência de aspetos de ordem espiritual, incluindo de não humanos, promoveram a participação dos Guarani, que demonstraram ser atores essenciais para a identificação e registo do bem cultural em 2014.

    International audience; When it comes to Early Middle Ages, literature tends to associate canons with common life, and even to define those referred to as canonici in the sources as clerics living a community life, and therefore distinct from the rest of the clergy. This association derives from the great Carolingian normative texts, first of all the institutio canonicorum from 816, which required that those “canonical clerics” lived a common life. But what was the actual situation on the ground some two centuries after the carolingian redefinition of the vita canonica? Did those communities identified as canonical practice the common life on the eve of the Gregorian reform? And if so, in what form? This issue is more often than not hard to answer for that period, because of data scarcity and imprecision. Italian archives, however, given their richness, allow a more precise grasp of the concrete modalities of the common life in the main urban canonicae (cathedral chapter and of collegiate churches). Those cases, presumably reflecting similar phenomena more difficult to observe in other European regions, show that the way of life followed by canons in the Italian kingdom’s was very heterogeneous in the first half of the 11th c. ; and thus despite the attempts of several bishops of the 980’s-1040’s to reinforce communal life in their churches. A range and gradation of practices appear according to location, revealing different views of the common life and of its importance or lack thereof for the clergy’s elevation and the service of the community of the faithful.; La littérature scientifique relative au haut Moyen Âge a tendance à associer chanoines et vie commune, voire à définir ceux que les sources désignent par le terme de canonici comme des clercs vivant en communauté, par opposition au reste du clergé. Cette association dérive des grands textes normatifs carolingiens, à commencer par l’institutio canonicorum de 816, qui voulaient que ces clercs « canoniques » mènent la vie commune, sur le modèle monastique. Mais qu’en était-il dans les faits quelque deux siècles après la redéfinition carolingienne de la vita canonica ? Pratiquait-on la vie commune dans les communautés qui se reconnaissaient comme canoniales à l’aube de la réforme grégorienne ? Et si oui, sous quelle forme ? Les sources diplomatiques italiennes, par leur richesse, permettent d’approcher d’un peu plus près les modalités concrètes de la vie commune dans les principales canonicae urbaines (chapitres cathédraux et de grandes collégiales). Ces exemples, susceptibles d’éclairer en partie des phénomènes qui se laissent moins bien apprécier dans d’autres régions d’Europe, témoignent avant tout de l’hétérogénéité du mode de vie canonial dans le royaume d’Italie à la veille du moment grégorien, en dépit des efforts d’un certain nombre d’évêques pour renforcer les pratiques communautaires des canonici de leurs églises dans les années 980-1040. Un éventail typologique de formes de vie se dessine selon les cités, reflets de positionnements différents quant à la vie commune et à son importance pour l’élévation des clercs et le service à la communauté des fidèles.

    O projeto de investigação “(Re)criar o Património – Caracterização de Problemáticas e Tendências para a Curadoria de Residências Artísticas em Portugal” tem como objetivo principal o levantamento de práticas na programação e curadoria de residências artísticas, orientadas para o estudo e/ou valorização do património, em Portugal, na atualidade. Neste contexto, são apresentados os resultados preliminares da análise de 58 programas ou iniciativas de residência artística com estas características, dinamizados, na abrangência do território nacional, entre os anos de 2004 e 2020. A análise de resultados é precedida de um breve enquadramento do projeto ao nível de problemáticas identificadas, no cruzamento entre os campos disciplinares dos estudos de património e estudos artísticos, com enfoque em recentes estudos e doscumentos orientadores, produzidos em contexto português. Discutem-se, ainda, os constrangimentos provocados pela pandemia COVID-19 no que diz respeito ao desenvolvimento do projeto, e, numa outra escala, sobre a programação de residências artísticas. Perspetivamos estratégias de futuro, evidenciando o papel dos museus enquanto promotores deste tipo de iniciativas e enquanto possível interface para a participação (cultural), a nível local. The research project “(Re)creating Heritage” aims to identify contemporary practices and trends in cultural programming of heritage-based artist-in-residence initiatives. In this short article, we will discuss the preliminary findings from a survey on 58 Portuguese artist-in-residence programmes developed from 2004 to 2020. The discussion is preceded by a brief problematization, placing the project at the intersection between heritage studies and artistic studies. The constraints caused by COVID-19 pandemic to the project are explored, including the impact on the programming of artistic residencies. We highlight the importance of museums as promoters of artist-in-residence programmes, as a way to increase participation of local publics and communities in post-pandemic times.

    La dissolution de la vie commune, dans le cadre d’une économie monétarisée, accompagne des évolutions institutionnelles comme le développement du système bénéficial et l’apparition de nouveaux modes de rémunération. Au sein des communautés canoniales prennent place la distribution attachée à une récitation de prière puis le paiement à l’acte de la célébration d’une messe, ce qui permet de les multiplier.
