Lake Petén Itzá was drilled in 2006 by the International Continental Discovery Program, obtaining seven lacustrine sedimentary records: PI-01, PI-02, PI-03, PI-04, PI-06, PI-7, and PI-9. Here, we present data from site PI-02 located north of the lake (16°59'58.04''N; 89°44'41.51''W) and measured between 67 and 19 m depth. Inorganic geochemistry data were obtained by X-ray fluorescence (XRF) using a Cox Analytical Itrax Core Scanner (Cr tube, 30 kV, 55 mA, 15 s exposure) with a resolution of 1 cm. XRF data is displayed in counts per second (cps). Subsequently, a transformation to centered log-ratio (CLR) was performed. The CLR data were obtained by dividing each value by the geometric mean of the elements measured at said depth, then the natural logarithm of said quotient was obtained. CLR results have no units. The mineralogy data were obtained every 1 m by ray diffraction (XRD) using a Rigaku MiniFlex 600 equipment (15 mA/40kV) in a rotation axis between 3 and 80°. The XRD values are in relative percentages obtained using the X-Pert High Score software (version 1.0b) and the diffraction potential files of the International Center for Diffraction Data, USA. Depth data corresponds with the master composite sequence presented by Mueller et al. (2010), while age data belongs to the age-depth model presented by Martínez-Abarca et al. 2023.

Here we present a taxonomically harmonized and temporally standardized pollen dataset that was synthesized using 173 palynological records from Siberia and adjacent areas (northeast Asia, 50°180°E and 42°75°N). Pollen data were taxonomically harmonized, that is the original 437 taxa were transformed to 106 combined pollen taxa. Age-depth models for all records were revised by applying a constant Bayesian age-depth modelling routine. The pollen dataset is available as count data and percentage data in a table format (taxa vs. samples) with age information for each sample. The dataset has relatively few sites covering the last glacial period between 40 and 11.5 cal ka BP (calibrated thousand years before present 1950 CE) particularly from the central and western part of the study area. In the Holocene period, the dataset has many sites from most of the area except the central part of Siberia. Of the 173 pollen records, 81% of pollen counts were downloaded from open databases (GPD, EPD, Pangaea) and 10% were contributions of the original data gatherers, while a few were digitized from publications. Most of the pollen records originate from peatlands (48%) and lake sediments (33%). Most of the records (83%) have ≥3 dates allowing the establishment of reliable chronologies. The dataset can be used for various purposes including pollen data mapping (example maps for Larix at selected time-slices are shown) as well as quantitative climate and vegetation reconstructions. To date, these rapid changes in climate and ocean circulation are still not fully explained. One obstacle hindering progress in our understanding of the interactions between past ocean circulation and climate changes is the difficulty of accurately dating marine cores. Here, we present a set of 92 marine sediment cores from the Atlantic Ocean for which we have established age-depth models that are consistent with the Greenland GICC05 ice core chronology, and computed the associated dating uncertainties, using a new deposition modeling technique. This is the first set of consistently dated marine sediment cores enabling paleoclimate scientists to evaluate leads/lags between circulation and climate changes over vast regions of the Atlantic Ocean. Moreover, this data set is of direct use in paleoclimate modeling studies.

Aden has a number of widely recognized unique assets, which are critical inputs to its emerging strategic positioning within Yemen and the region. Most notable is its natural deep-water harbor on the Red Sea, striking landscapes and distinctive topography, abundance of raw materials, and rich urban heritage. In addition, the residents of Aden are known for their hospitable nature and openness to diversity. Today, leadership in Aden, both public and private, are motivated to create prosperity. Despite a broad portfolio of assets and existence of key infrastructure, the city must address constraints that are holding back economic growth. Aden has much of the basic infrastructure required for businesses to compete, with a few areas requiring major investment. The city is spread across 6,980 square kilometers and is composed of eight districts, each with its own commercial center. The city developed on a peninsula and subsequently expanded along the coast, following the main radial route inland. The city of Aden is differentiated from the rest of the country in several important ways. First, Aden has a deep and naturally protected seaport. Second, the immediate region has an abundance of raw materials. Finally, Aden is well known for its hospitable culture and rich urban and physical heritage. These characteristics, combined with the presence of the container terminal, international airport, and Aden free zone, comprise the foundation for the future growth of the maritime, hospitality and tourism, and manufacturing industries in the governorate. Finally, the emerging institutional architecture and process for change in Aden needs further development. The quality of dialogue, particularly between the public and private sector needs to improve, and the responsibilities of the private and public sectors need to be articulated, acknowledged, and pursued. While the government needs to do everything it can to help the private sector, the businesspeople of Aden need to accept more responsibility for improving the region's economy.

Malawi sits amid a vibrant Travel and Tourism (T&T) region that is growing rapidly and increasing its world market share. Proximate to countries with thriving T&T sectors, Malawi has a relatively underdeveloped diversity of natural, cultural, and man-made attractions. It is challenged to embrace effective policies that will enable public and private sector alignment to achieve a viable niche as an economically productive, multi experience destination in its own right. It is important to view tourism as a national priority across sectors and ministries in Malawi. Thus, there is the need to better understand the economic potential of Malawi's T&T sector and recommend strategies to promote a level of competitiveness that leads to further economic growth, employment generation, and poverty reduction. The goal is to identify the economic potential of T&T in Malawi. The objective of T&T in Malawi is to delivering economic growth and diversification is to analyze the value of T&T in Malawi.
