    Abstract The accuracy of absolute pitch has often fallen into mythical perspectives, as this rare ability tends to fascinate people through its spectacular results. Many people tend to think that a musician with absolute pitch is always capable of identifying the musical note of any sound in any circumstances. The research literature has revealed that this is rarely true. Although there is a significant difference between real absolute pitch owners and pseudo-absolute pitch owners, the accuracy of absolute pitch is highly influenced by a series of musical factors such as: pitch chroma, pitch height and musical timbre. Therefore, it has been proven that the best absolute pitch accuracy manifests for medium pitch sounds, while very high or very low sounds tend to often be misidentified. Even more, absolute pitch owners tend to make an unusual mistake of misidentifying the octave. The familiar sounds (for example from the instrument the musician has studied in childhood) tend to produce less identification errors. Nevertheless, the piano timbre is usually associated with the best accuracy of absolute pitch. The aim of the present research is to synthetize up-to-date literature regarding the way these factors influence the accuracy of absolute pitch. The study focuses on the idea of normalizing the general perspective of absolute pitch accuracy, as musicians and teachers often tend to have very high expectations regarding this ability. The educational implications of the new perspective drawn here contribute to a better relation between teachers and students, as well as to a better understanding of this interesting musical ability.

    Abstract The choice of valuable interpretative versions is highly important for both pianists on their way to performance and teachers in their complex activity of piano training. These become real models of esthetical thinking and artistic inspiration in the approach of a musical work. We shall use Sonata in D minor D 958 by Franz Schubert as an interpretative analysis model in the view of the pianists Alfred Brendel and Murray Perahia.

    Abstract The second Sonata for Piano and Violin, op. 6 by George Enescu marks the beginning of a long road of assimilation and synthesis of the Romanian folklore elements and of the way of expression“in Romanian popular character”, transposed on the characteristics of the universal language. Without knowing the authentic folk art from a scientific point of view, Enescu was deeply influenced, shaping his entire artistic personality. He consciously assimilated popular music by generalizing some essential folkloric principles, which he later organized in a personal vision. The innovative elements of the Enescian musical language are transposed in the free rhythm, the heterophonic construction, the complexity and subtleties of dynamics and agogics, the timbre color, as well as in the synthesis between freedom and rigor in the creative and interpretive act.

    Abstract Folk dance, described in Folkloristics through notions like traditional dance, or, more often, folk choreography, refers to a specific domain of traditional spirituality, and is the third major component of folklore, alongside traditional literature/literary folklore and traditional music/musical folklore.The relation between folk dance and the Romanian education system is a long-lasting one, having taken various forms and degrees of intensity, as this folklore category offers resources and contents that have been used, and still are, in the education of children, youth, and adults. This article refers to the basic components of folk dance distinguished in Ethnochoreology which can offer useful contents to the process of didactic transposition at different levels of education in the Romanian school.

    Abstract Creating stylistic unity within a theatre play is more than just a complex process. The original interpretation of the language forms, specific to each artist that becomes part of this creative act, lies within the final aesthetic product. This article starts by analysing the concept of form and movement as a result of syncretism on various levels, from style and movement, to expression and feelings. To achieve this, the author describes the aesthethics of form emphasising the meaning of stylistic unity in achieving the artistic vision of a show. The paper defines compositional laws and theatrical methods that make the muppet play become a harmonic visual ensemble and stylistic unity. Some of these are: stage props and background; the kinetic criterion of moving forms; the ergonomic criterion of forms in space; the criterion of materiality - in creating the clothing and the costume design.

    Abstract This study suggests an incursion into the issue of the development of professional musical hearing, which is divided into three major sections. Starting from the general to the particular, this approach starts with defining the field of reference - musical hearing, seen as a prerequisite in the training of future artists. Closely related to the curricula and textbooks from the pre-university vocational education, the subject Music Theory - Solfeggio - Dictation holds the conceptual and pragmatic frame on the basis of which we offered different solutions for the development of musical hearing. In this respect, I focused my research on the following typologies: melodic, polyphonic, harmonic, dynamic, timbral, with particular reference to the formation of internal hearing and sense of rhythm.

    1. IntroductionArts subjects are integrated in the education of each individual from the earliest years of life. They are representative of two artistic fields, that is music and visual art, and they are part of the Arts curriculum. The curricular area represents a well-established range of school subjects which share some objectives and methodologies, and which offer a multi- and/or interdisciplinary vision on the study subjects. Arts curricular area includes disciplines such as Musical Education and Arts/Visual/Artistic Education. The framework plan is a way of solving the matter of study time distribution in which curricular areas are assigned, the compulsory subjects and the number of hours allocated weekly to each study subject.2. The Analysis of Curriculum Documents - Framework Plans and School CurriculaA detailed analysis of the framework plans reveals that in the Romanian theoretical education, starting with the secondary level (5th -7th grades) Arts are taught one hour a week in 5th -7th grades and a half hour a week in the 8th grade. In high school, Arts are studied only up to the 10th grade. Only in humanistic institutions, artistic disciplines are taught up to the 12th grade. In what concerns vocational education, Plastic/Visual Arts are taught at secondary school and throughout the whole high school period. Compared to general-theoretic education, vocational education is found to manifest a significant increase in Arts specialty classes, differentiated according to profile and specialization. In schools with a technological profile or in vocational schools, the Arts curriculum is not covered by the framework plan.For each artistic discipline included in the learning framework plan, a curriculum is set, a part of the national curriculum. The curriculum describes the educational offer of a certain subject for a determined school course. Current school programs are developed in a unitary structure, keeping in consideration clearly defined curricular strategies, but the current national curriculum comes with a flexible learning offer. This allows teachers to adapt the formal framework - the curriculum requires the development of certain skills and completing certain contents - based on the personality and the specifics of the students they work with. The elements that facilitate this adjustment are represented by the fact that:- the teacher can intervene in the succession of big content themes from the curriculum, but on condition that he maintains or ensures thematic coherence and he follows the internal logic of the field/discipline;- in the curriculum - which is a centralized school document - there is no prescribed period of time allocated to each content item;- examples of learning activities presented in the curriculum may be amended, supplemented or replaced.These three aspects allow the development of a customized educational process, personalised depending on the specific development needs of the students and on the group they belong to. The instructive-educational contents: openness towards the new language of contemporary art. Analyzing the current curriculum, one can see a certain degree of openness towards artistic phenomena manifested since the second half of the twentieth century.From a simple reading of the presentation note of the curriculum for 5th - 8th grades, an orientation mainly towards fine arts training can be noticed, until the first part of the twentieth century. Content proponents, which are binding and which will be taught throughout the whole cycle, are artists and theorists strongly connected to the artistic movements of the 19th century century and the first part of the 20th century, including artistic movements and educational principles of the Bauhaus school. Therefore theories about shape, color, contrast and chromatic dominants, composition are systematized and structured in this direction. The conclusion is supported by the general skills, values and attitudes proposed to be developed by the secondary school curriculum, and by specific skills and mandatory contents specified for each level of study. …

    Abstract Dance is an artistic genre that is more and more frequently used in theatre productions. The syncretism of theatre and dance can take many shapes, from inserting dance sequences in dramatic performances, to new artistic genres, such as dance theatre. Due to the fact that they offer manifold innovating possibilities for artistic expression in a greatly audience-oriented universal language, theatrical forms that include dance, and especially the artistic genre of dance theatre are increasingly often put on stage by directors who work in Romania. Thus, training actors in the area of dance at a high level of performance that allows them to approach these types of syncretic artistic genres becomes a priority for the Romanian theatre school. The director, one of the stakeholders in higher education theatre schools, is the one who decides both the form of a performance and an actor’s involvement (or lack thereof) in that certain performance. Limited or stimulated by the actor’s training level, the director is also a beneficiary of the education the acting student receives in drama school. This study aims at identifying the opinions of ten Romanian directors on the matter of the choreographic categories and skills the acting student acquires during his years of training at a higher education institution. We have used qualitative methodology research, based on semi-structured interviews, applied to a cross-section of ten directors from Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Constanţa, Craiova, Iaşi, and Tg. Mureş. This article tackles the issue of cognitive didactic objectives and students’ cognitive competencies that have been emphasized during the conversations with the aforementioned directors.

    Abstract The accuracy of absolute pitch has often fallen into mythical perspectives, as this rare ability tends to fascinate people through its spectacular results. Many people tend to think that a musician with absolute pitch is always capable of identifying the musical note of any sound in any circumstances. The research literature has revealed that this is rarely true. Although there is a significant difference between real absolute pitch owners and pseudo-absolute pitch owners, the accuracy of absolute pitch is highly influenced by a series of musical factors such as: pitch chroma, pitch height and musical timbre. Therefore, it has been proven that the best absolute pitch accuracy manifests for medium pitch sounds, while very high or very low sounds tend to often be misidentified. Even more, absolute pitch owners tend to make an unusual mistake of misidentifying the octave. The familiar sounds (for example from the instrument the musician has studied in childhood) tend to produce less identification errors. Nevertheless, the piano timbre is usually associated with the best accuracy of absolute pitch. The aim of the present research is to synthetize up-to-date literature regarding the way these factors influence the accuracy of absolute pitch. The study focuses on the idea of normalizing the general perspective of absolute pitch accuracy, as musicians and teachers often tend to have very high expectations regarding this ability. The educational implications of the new perspective drawn here contribute to a better relation between teachers and students, as well as to a better understanding of this interesting musical ability.

    Abstract The choice of valuable interpretative versions is highly important for both pianists on their way to performance and teachers in their complex activity of piano training. These become real models of esthetical thinking and artistic inspiration in the approach of a musical work. We shall use Sonata in D minor D 958 by Franz Schubert as an interpretative analysis model in the view of the pianists Alfred Brendel and Murray Perahia.

    Abstract The second Sonata for Piano and Violin, op. 6 by George Enescu marks the beginning of a long road of assimilation and synthesis of the Romanian folklore elements and of the way of expression“in Romanian popular character”, transposed on the characteristics of the universal language. Without knowing the authentic folk art from a scientific point of view, Enescu was deeply influenced, shaping his entire artistic personality. He consciously assimilated popular music by generalizing some essential folkloric principles, which he later organized in a personal vision. The innovative elements of the Enescian musical language are transposed in the free rhythm, the heterophonic construction, the complexity and subtleties of dynamics and agogics, the timbre color, as well as in the synthesis between freedom and rigor in the creative and interpretive act.
