    La ferme du Panveau à Aron a été découverte au cours d’un diagnostic mené sur le contournement de la ville de Mayenne à un peu plus de deux kilomètres au nord du rempart de l’oppidum du Mesnil à Moulay mis en évidence dans le cadre de cette même opération. Cet habitat enclos occupé durant La Tène moyenne et La Tène finale montre une évolution dans les gabarits de fossés qui l’entourent. De nombreux bâtiments dont un exemplaire à tranchées de fondation de près de 80 mètres carrés y ont été fouillés. The Panveau farm in Aron was discovered during an archaeological evaluation prior to the construction of the Mayenne town bypass. It is located about 2 km north of the ramparts of the Mesnil Moulay oppidum which was also discovered during the same investigation. The size of the ditches enclosing this settlement dating from the middle and late La Tène period evolve during its occupation and several buildings including an 80 mètres carrés construction with foundation trenches were brought to light Das latènezeitliche Gehöft von Panveau bei Aron (Mayenne) liegt rund 2 km nördlich des Befestigungswalles des oppidums von Mesnil bei Moulay. Es wurde bei einer Baggerprospektion entdeckt, die anlässlich des beabsichtigten Baues einer Ortsumgehung von Mayenne durchgeführt wurde. Dieses eingehegte Gehöft der Mittel- und Spätlatènezeit zeigt eine Entwicklung bezüglich der Ausmaße der Grabenanlagen, die es umgeben. Mehrere Gebäude, darunter eines mit Fundamentgräbchen und einer Grundfläche von beinahe 80 m², wurden freigelegt. La granja de Panveau en Aron fue descubierta durante un diagnostico arqueológico que se hizo para desviar la ciudad de Mayenne, en un poco más de 2 kilómetros al norte de la pared del oppidum de Mesnil en el pueblo de Moulay encontrado dentro del marco de la misma operación. Este hábitat cerrado ocupado durante la mitad y el final de La Tène muestra una evolución de los tamaños de las zanjas que lo rodean. Muchos edificios, incluyendo uno constituido de zanjas de cimentación que alcanzan hasta 80 m2, se han destacado.

    International audience; Lexicometric software is applied to a test corpus of tale-type ATU 1137 as a pilot study to assess whether such software can be used for the identification of traditional motifs. Rather than a tool for identifying motifs, the pilot study revealed a new way of looking at tales, viewing them in terms of semantic networks.

    Authors: M. P. A. van den Ende; J.-P. Ampuero;

    The versatility and cost efficiency of fibre-optic distributed acoustic sensing (DAS) technologies facilitate geophysical monitoring in environments that were previously inaccessible for instrumentation. Moreover, the spatio-temporal data density permitted by DAS naturally appeals to seismic array processing techniques, such as beamforming for source location. However, the measurement principle of DAS is inherently different from that of conventional seismometers, providing measurements of ground strain rather than ground motion, and so the suitability of traditional seismological methods requires in-depth evaluation. In this study, we evaluate the performance of a DAS array in the task of seismic beamforming, in comparison with a co-located nodal seismometer array. We find that, even though the nodal array achieves excellent performance in localising a regional ML 4.3 earthquake, the DAS array exhibits poor waveform coherence and consequently produces inadequate beamforming results that are dominated by the signatures of shallow scattered waves. We demonstrate that this behaviour is likely inherent to the DAS measurement principle, and so new strategies need to be adopted to tailor array processing techniques to this emerging measurement technology. One strategy demonstrated here is to convert the DAS strain rates to particle velocities by spatial integration using the nodal seismometer recordings as a reference, which dramatically improves waveform coherence and beamforming performance and warrants new types of “hybrid” array design that combine dense DAS arrays with sparse seismometer arrays.

    Authors: Le Lay, Maëline;

    Cet article portant sur les circulations littéraires et spectaculaires dans l'Afrique des Grands Lacs commence par retracer l'histoire de ces pratiques à travers quelques exemples issus de la période coloniale. Il s'attache ensuite à analyser les modalités contemporaines de circulations des textes (via des procédés tels que la reprise de motifs narratifs et l'adaptation) et de circulation des acteurs culturels dans les différents réseaux transfrontaliers de création artistique plus ou moins liés au secteur humanitaire ou à la coopération internationale. Il s'achève en proposant un questionnement critique sur le concept de circulation artistique. This article on literary and theatrical circulations in Africa's Great Lakes region begins by retracing the history of these practices, taking several examples from the colonial period. It then analyzes contemporary modalities of the circulation of texts (via procedures such as reprising narrative patterns and adaptation), and cultural actors, in the different transnational arts networks that are more or less closely tied to the humanitarian sector, or to international cooperation. Finally, it proposes a critical questioning of the concept of artistic circulation.

    Authors: Luzio, E. di; Bianchi Fasani, G.; Bretschneider, A.;

    The Palatine Hill is among the main archaeological sites of Roman antiquity. Today, this place requires continuous care for its safeguarding and conservation. Among the main problems, slope instabilities threaten the southwestern border of the hill flanked by the Velabrum Valley, as also testified by historical documents. The upper part of the investigated slope is characterized by Middle Pleistocene red-brownish tuffs known as "Tufo Lionato". The rock mass is affected by two jointing belts featuring the slope edge and its internal portion with different joint frequency and distribution. The analysis of the geometric relationship between the joint systems and the slope attitude evidenced possible planar sliding and toppling failure mechanisms on the exposed tuff cliffs. Potential rock block failures threatening the local cultural heritage were contrasted with preliminary works for site remediation. In addition, stress-strain numerical modelling verified the hypothesis of a tensile origin for the jointing belts, suggested by fracture characteristics and orientation. A first modelling was limited to the southwestern edge of the Palatine Hill and analysed the present stress-strain condition of the slope, proving the inconsistency with the observed deformation. A second modelling was extended to the Palatine-Velabrum slope-to-valley system to consider the role played by the geomorphological evolution of the area on the local slope dynamics during the late Pleistocene-Holocene. Results demonstrate how original conditions of slope instability, deformation and retreat along the Palatine western edge were determined by deep valley incision, and controlled by deformability contrasts within the slope. Slope instability influenced the site occupation and development during the Roman civilization, as also indicated by the remnants of retaining walls of different ages at the slope base.

    Authors: Leplongeon, Alice;

    During the Nubia Salvage Campaign and the subsequent expeditions from the 1960's to the 1980's, numerous sites attributed to the Late Palaeolithic (~25-15 ka) were found in the Nile Valley, particularly in Nubia and Upper Egypt. This region is one of the few to have allowed human occupations during the dry Marine Isotope Stage 2 and is therefore key to understanding how human populations adapted to environmental changes at this time. This paper focuses on two sites located in Upper Egypt, excavated by the Combined Prehistoric Expedition: E71K18, attributed to the Afian industry and E71K20, attributed to the Silsilian industry. It aims to review the geomorphological and chronological evidence of the sites, present a technological analysis of the lithic assemblages in order to provide data that can be used in detailed comparative studies, which will allow discussion of technological variability in the Late Palaeolithic of the Nile Valley and its place within the regional context. The lithic analysis relies on the chaîne opératoire concept combined with an attribute analysis to allow quantification. This study (1) casts doubts on the chronology of E71K18 and related Afian industry, which could be older or younger than previously suggested, highlights (2) distinct technological characteristics for the Afian and the Silsilian, as well as (3) similar technological characteristics which allow to group them under a same broad techno-cultural complex, distinct from those north or south of the area. ispartof: PLOS ONE vol:12 issue:12 ispartof: location:United States status: published

    Authors: Alonso, Víctor L.;

    Au cours du xixe siècle, il y aura des jeux physiques sous forme de réminiscences, de relectures ou de nouvelles considérations. Ces jeux seront présents dans un tissu urbain en transformation, et leur acceptation sera ambiguë, selon qui les parraine, les légitime ou les pratique. La sociabilité qui en découle reflètera également cette réalité, en montrant une articulation complexe de formes et d’espaces quelque peu nouveaux. Ce travail entend montrer le développement de ces jeux et des formes de sociabilité qui leur sont associées, lesquels ont été intensément pratiqués aux îles Canaries, mais peu étudiés, en mettant l’accent sur les jeux physiques populaires, en particulier sur la lutte canarienne. Durante el siglo xix, habrá juegos físicos a modo de reminiscencias, relecturas, o nuevas consideraciones. Estarán presentes en un tejido urbano en transformación, y tendrán una consideración ambigua, dependiendo de quién los auspicie, legitime o practique. La sociabilidad vinculada también reflejará esa realidad, mostrando una compleja articulación de formas y espacios un tanto novedosa. Este trabajo pretende mostrar su desarrollo en Canarias, caracterizado por una intensa presencia, apenas tratada, para lo que incidiremos en los juegos físicos populares, especialmente en la lucha canaria. During the 19th century there will be physical plays as a reminiscence mode, rereading, or new additions. They will be present in a changing urban fabric, and will have an ambiguous consideration, depending on who sponsors, legitimizes or practices them. The sociability linked to those sports will also reflect that reality, showing a complex articulation of spaces and shapes, somewhat novel. This work aims to show its development in the Canary Islands, characterized by an intense presence, barely treated, for that we will focus on popular physical games, especially Canarian wrestling.

    International audience; Diffraction plays a crucial role in microscopy as it prevents the recording of arbitrarily sharp images with conventional light microscopes. Many names are connected with the notion of diffraction and the definition of resolution. An overview over the contributions of the different scientists to the recognition and definition of the diffraction barrier in the past centuries is given and the recent developments that led to breaking this barrier are portrayed.

    Authors: This, Hervé;

    An article in which Antoine Laurent de Lavoisier discussed his results on the making of meat broth is an opportunity for evaluating the methodological advances proposed for the communication of research results in the past centuries by sciences of nature. It is also the possibility to discuss the issue of "best practices" in science communication. Un article où Antoine Laurent de Lavoisier présente ses résultats sur la confection des bouillons de viande est l'occasion de mieux voir les progrès méthodologiques effectués en communication scientifique par les sciences de la nature. C'est également l'occasion de discuter la question de "bonnes pratiques scientifiques".

    Authors: Valais, Alain; Mortreau, M.; NAULEAU, Jean-François; Robin, Boris;

    La ferme du Panveau à Aron a été découverte au cours d’un diagnostic mené sur le contournement de la ville de Mayenne à un peu plus de deux kilomètres au nord du rempart de l’oppidum du Mesnil à Moulay mis en évidence dans le cadre de cette même opération. Cet habitat enclos occupé durant La Tène moyenne et La Tène finale montre une évolution dans les gabarits de fossés qui l’entourent. De nombreux bâtiments dont un exemplaire à tranchées de fondation de près de 80 mètres carrés y ont été fouillés. The Panveau farm in Aron was discovered during an archaeological evaluation prior to the construction of the Mayenne town bypass. It is located about 2 km north of the ramparts of the Mesnil Moulay oppidum which was also discovered during the same investigation. The size of the ditches enclosing this settlement dating from the middle and late La Tène period evolve during its occupation and several buildings including an 80 mètres carrés construction with foundation trenches were brought to light Das latènezeitliche Gehöft von Panveau bei Aron (Mayenne) liegt rund 2 km nördlich des Befestigungswalles des oppidums von Mesnil bei Moulay. Es wurde bei einer Baggerprospektion entdeckt, die anlässlich des beabsichtigten Baues einer Ortsumgehung von Mayenne durchgeführt wurde. Dieses eingehegte Gehöft der Mittel- und Spätlatènezeit zeigt eine Entwicklung bezüglich der Ausmaße der Grabenanlagen, die es umgeben. Mehrere Gebäude, darunter eines mit Fundamentgräbchen und einer Grundfläche von beinahe 80 m², wurden freigelegt. La granja de Panveau en Aron fue descubierta durante un diagnostico arqueológico que se hizo para desviar la ciudad de Mayenne, en un poco más de 2 kilómetros al norte de la pared del oppidum de Mesnil en el pueblo de Moulay encontrado dentro del marco de la misma operación. Este hábitat cerrado ocupado durante la mitad y el final de La Tène muestra una evolución de los tamaños de las zanjas que lo rodean. Muchos edificios, incluyendo uno constituido de zanjas de cimentación que alcanzan hasta 80 m2, se han destacado.

    International audience; Lexicometric software is applied to a test corpus of tale-type ATU 1137 as a pilot study to assess whether such software can be used for the identification of traditional motifs. Rather than a tool for identifying motifs, the pilot study revealed a new way of looking at tales, viewing them in terms of semantic networks.

    Cet article portant sur les circulations littéraires et spectaculaires dans l'Afrique des Grands Lacs commence par retracer l'histoire de ces pratiques à travers quelques exemples issus de la période coloniale. Il s'attache ensuite à analyser les modalités contemporaines de circulations des textes (via des procédés tels que la reprise de motifs narratifs et l'adaptation) et de circulation des acteurs culturels dans les différents réseaux transfrontaliers de création artistique plus ou moins liés au secteur humanitaire ou à la coopération internationale. Il s'achève en proposant un questionnement critique sur le concept de circulation artistique. This article on literary and theatrical circulations in Africa's Great Lakes region begins by retracing the history of these practices, taking several examples from the colonial period. It then analyzes contemporary modalities of the circulation of texts (via procedures such as reprising narrative patterns and adaptation), and cultural actors, in the different transnational arts networks that are more or less closely tied to the humanitarian sector, or to international cooperation. Finally, it proposes a critical questioning of the concept of artistic circulation.
