Section one presents a method of analysis developed over the years in order to model and visualise the evolution of architectural objects. The method combines a systematic description of transformations, qualification and classification of references, and visualisation tools that support reasoning tasks inside an object’s lifeline, and across the whole collection of objects. In this section some fundamental epistemological issues will be discussed (diachronic bias, intersubjectivity, historical criticism, etc.). Details will be given on the choices we made in order to describe architectural transformations and to cope with classic uncertainty problems (trustworthiness, precision, credibility, etc.). Section one is concluded by a chapter presenting the set of time-oriented data visualisations designed for section two of the catalogue, and by an overview of that catalogue’s general layout. Rozdział pierwszy porusza podstawowe zagadnienia epistemologiczne związane z analizą ewolucji obiektów architektonicznych (analiza diachroniczna, intersubiektywność, krytyka historyczna, ...) i przedstawia opracowaną przez nas metodę. Poruszamy tu między innymi problem zróżnicowanej precyzji i wiarygodności danych historycznych, klasyfikację transformacji jakim podlegają obiekty architektoniczne, czy rolę wizualizacji w procesach analizy danych historycznych.

How historical events interfere with family stories, and their perception is influenced by family issues.

During the Nubia Salvage Campaign and the subsequent expeditions from the 1960's to the 1980's, numerous sites attributed to the Late Palaeolithic (~25-15 ka) were found in the Nile Valley, particularly in Nubia and Upper Egypt. This region is one of the few to have allowed human occupations during the dry Marine Isotope Stage 2 and is therefore key to understanding how human populations adapted to environmental changes at this time. This paper focuses on two sites located in Upper Egypt, excavated by the Combined Prehistoric Expedition: E71K18, attributed to the Afian industry and E71K20, attributed to the Silsilian industry. It aims to review the geomorphological and chronological evidence of the sites, present a technological analysis of the lithic assemblages in order to provide data that can be used in detailed comparative studies, which will allow discussion of technological variability in the Late Palaeolithic of the Nile Valley and its place within the regional context. The lithic analysis relies on the chaîne opératoire concept combined with an attribute analysis to allow quantification. This study (1) casts doubts on the chronology of E71K18 and related Afian industry, which could be older or younger than previously suggested, highlights (2) distinct technological characteristics for the Afian and the Silsilian, as well as (3) similar technological characteristics which allow to group them under a same broad techno-cultural complex, distinct from those north or south of the area. ispartof: PLOS ONE vol:12 issue:12 ispartof: location:United States status: published

The practice of record keeping on French farms and the forms taken by farm records have not been widely studied. If[i] livres de raison[/i] have attracted some recent discussion, little interest has been shown in the day-to-day writings contained in[i] agendas[/i] (diaries). This article shows that persistent efforts were made throughout the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries to introduce onto farms accounting management tools and the media needed to keep records. The movement provided an organised body of resources: their use was advocated by authority figures such as[i] agromanes[/i], schoolmasters and agricultural masters.

International audience; This article aims at conceptually marking out the different cognitive processes involved in the experience of mobile art devices, and at understanding to what extent the involvement of these cognitive processes is different from their involvement in other forms of art.

L'ouvrage est en anglais/arabe.; C'est le deuxième volume consacré aux collections épigraphiques et archéologiques provenant des sites du Jawf, déposées au musée National de Sanaa, Yémen. Ce volume contient 130 pièces composées des inscriptions, des stèles inscrites, plaques en pierre incisées, fragments des piliers, objets en bronze et des bijoux. La plupart de ces pièces datent des VIIIe-Ier s. av. J.-C.

This paper consists of the cataloguing, mapping, and the study of the street poetry of Rome, written on the walls of the Italian capital by a group of street artists who started their activity in 2012: The Poeti der Trullo (The poets of the Trullo). Through the use of digital humanities tools, the article describes the Poeti der Trullo and their district, developing some considerations on the themes and the language that characterise their poems. The aim is to understand the cultural and social roots of this street poetry phenomenon and its effects on contemporary society. This study, which combines tools such as WordSmith, TXM, RStudio, Q-GIS, CartoDB, and Gephi, explains how the Poeti der Trullo interpret and interact with society through an interdisciplinary approach. The activity of the Poeti der Trullo, which blends the tradition of Roman graffiti and Pasquinate with the urban culture of slam poetry, shows a poetic resistance towards the image of contemporary society. Through a simple gesture such as writing a poetic message on a wall, these young performers reveal the strength of a cultural tradition that discloses a new act of resistance which has a pragmatic effect on society. International audience; This paper deals with the integration of history in mathematics teaching. Four possible approaches are considered: complementation, replication, accommodation, reconstruction. The main focus is on the relation between. mathematical problems posed on the basis of historical information (history-based problems) and mathematics teaching from the HPM perspective. In this paper 20 HPM lessons are analysed.

International audience; Epidemics that have marked the history of human societies have been the subject of active research for decades in fields as diverse as history, sociology, historical demography and archaeo-anthropology. However, the question of how these deadly events are remembered and the forms through which memory and commemoration materialised remains largely unexplored. This exploratory article contributes to filling this gap by providing an overview of the commemorative attitudes deployed by different societies, both past and present, towards these events and their victims. Based on the cross-examination of textual, iconographic and archaeological sources, the aim is to focus initially on the commemoration of the great plague epidemics that struck Europe during the Middle Ages and Early modern period. Secondly, we will look at the forms of commemoration linked to various epidemics of the Late modern period, particularly the most deadly (smallpox, cholera, typhus, Ebola, AIDS). The corpus studied highlights the diversity of the media mobilised in the construction of remembrance surrounding these events (emblematic places as material heritage, creation of memorials, celebrations and ceremonies, artistic representations). Giving a diachronic perspective, the data reported provide a converging set of evidence to the gradual changes that began in the second half of the 17th century, and even more so in the 18th century, as the ideological and political constructions of remembrance gradually took precedence over religious discourse.; Les épidémies qui ont marqué l’histoire des sociétés humaines font l’objet, depuis des décennies, de recherches actives dans des domaines aussi divers que l’histoire, la sociologie, la démographie historique ou l’archéo-anthropologie. Cependant, la question de l’ancrage mémoriel de ces évènements meurtriers et des formes au travers desquelles il s’est matérialisé demeure encore largement inexplorée. Le présent article, à visée exploratoire, contribue à combler cette lacune en livrant un aperçu des attitudes commémoratives déployées par différentes sociétés, tant par le passé que de nos jours, à l’endroit de ces évènements et de leurs victimes. Fondé sur l’exploitation croisée de sources textuelles, iconographiques et archéologiques, notre propos se focalise dans un premier temps sur la mise en mémoire des grandes épidémies de peste qui ont frappé l’Europe durant le Moyen Âge et l’Époque moderne. Il aborde, dans un second temps, les formes de commémorations liées à diverses épidémies d’Époque contemporaine, notamment aux plus meurtrières (variole, choléra, typhus, Ébola, sida). Le corpus étudié met en lumière la diversité des médias mobilisés dans la construction mémorielle entourant ces évènements (patrimonialisation de lieux emblématiques, création d’objets et de monuments commémoratifs, fêtes et cérémonies, représentations artistiques). Abordé sous un angle diachronique, les données rapportées livrent un faisceau d’indices convergents des changements progressifs qui s’amorcèrent dès la deuxième moitié du XVIIe siècle, et plus encore au XVIIIe siècle, les constructions idéologiques et politiques du souvenir prenant peu à peu le pas sur le discours religieux.
