In theoretical physics, the object of investigation is not the real world itself but its mathematical description which is considered as describing physical reality as exactly as possible. I present arguments from philosophy of science and from recent work in the theory of gravitational physics which indicate a possibility to defend also antirealistic views, and clarify in which sense both standpoints can be viable.

The article pays attention to industrial paternalism as one of the models of employerlabour relations that have emerged during the 19th century. It focuses in particular on the French environment, in which industrial paternalism strongly resonated and where we can find many of its important actors. The study brings on the light its precursors and inspirations in the concept of patronage of Frédéric Le Play as well as the interactions between state, entrepreneurship, and working class. The text introduces main characteristics of this managerial approach in the historical context of the end of the 19th and first half of the 20th century with the changing nature of French industry and massive immigration of labour force. It analyses historiographic production devoted to this phenomenon and offers various ways of its interpretation.

Our background system is Transparent Intensional Logic (TIL) with its procedural semantics that assigns abstract procedures known as TIL constructions to terms of natural language as their context-invariant meanings. The input data for our method are produced by the so-called Normal Translation Algorithm (NTA). The algorithm processes natural-language texts and produces TIL constructions. In this way we have obtained a large corpus of TIL meaning procedures. These procedures are furthermore processed by our algorithms for type checking and context recognition, so that the rules of natural deduction for inferring computable knowledge can be afterwards applied. Besides stationary properties, also transient properties like warm-cool feeling or thermal absorptivity are important. In the paper, the concept of special version of this parameter, called moisture absorptivity, is explained and used for evaluation of transient moisture transfer (moisture management) between simulated wet human skin and selected dry functional underwear fabrics.

The paper focuses on a new description of morphological categories, mainly on the subcategorization of parts of speech in Czech within the NovaMorf project. NovaMorf focuses on the description of morphological properties of Czech word forms in a more compact and consistent way and with a higher explicative power than approaches used so far. It also aims at the unification of diverse approaches to morphological annotation of Czech. NovaMorf approach will be reflected in a new morphological dictionary to be exploited for a new automatic morphological analysis (and disambiguation) of corpora of contemporary Czech.

Abstract AE g ¯ IS (Antimatter Experiment: Gravity, Interferometry, Spectroscopy) is a CERN based experiment aiming to probe the Weak Equivalence Principle of General Relativity with antimatter by studying free fall of antihydrogen in the Earth’s gravitational field. A pulsed cold beam of antihydrogen produced by charge exchange between Rydberg positronium and cold antiprotons will be horizontally accelerated by an electric field gradient. The free fall of antihydrogen will then be measured by a classical moire deflectometer. An overview of the experimental setup, present status of the experiment along with current achievements and results is presented.

Marx’s Economic and Philosophical Manuscripts are usually interpreted as a transitional work between different elements of Feuerbach’s and Hegel’s philosophy which are still strongly present in the work of young Marx, and between Marx’s mature historical materialism. In the present text, we will try to show (with reference to the recent discussions on “young Marx”, especially in the French context), that the Manuscripts, in fact, contain an ontology that cannot be reduce either to a mere residuum of classical German philosophy, or to a materialist conception of social life. We shall try to describe this original ontology as an ontology of the sensible, or as an ontology of the finitude of human sensibility.”
