In semi-arid regions that are characterized by large agricultural activities, a high volume of water is needed to cover the water requirements for agricultural production. Due to low precipitation and the associated limited availability of surface water, aquifers often represent the main source of irrigation water in these regions. Especially in coastal aquifers, high groundwater abstraction rates may change the flow dynamics of the aquifer and may lead to saltwater intrusion. In this study, within the framework of German–Moroccan international cooperation, the agricultural areas for the summer period 2019 of the Chtouka coastal aquifer in southern Morocco are classified using optical and multi-spectral Sentinel 2 data. Based on the developed land use maps, the groundwater abstraction for irrigation is then quantified by referring to local farmers’ irrigation practices. Following this approach, the total amount of groundwater abstraction is estimated at 157 million m3 for the summer period 2019 in the Chtouka aquifer.

Both deal, at least partly, withOthello, and both can be considered subversive re-visions of Shakespeare’s play which aim to articulate oppositional intervention in the canon. These similarities notwithstanding, the plays have not often been studied concurrently. Also, while several critics have explored them, mostly separately, in terms of their adaptation/appropriation of Shakespeare, seeking to spell out the transformations they have brought to the “original” text, little has been said about how the iconic figure of Shakespeare still holds sway in these new dramas, albeit in different ways and to varying degrees. Likewise, their dramatization of the character of Othello remains rather understudied. This essay explores the “new” Othellos of the two plays, contending that their positioning in the two texts evinces some similarities while their characterization differs widely, given the plays’ generic difference, but mostly the two playwrights’ rather divergent feminist perspectives which, in turn, substantially shape the plays’ respective appropriation techniques.

SummaryNew business models underpinned by new standards of openness, flexibility, and agility are arising in the banking sector. Therefore, banks have to establish new strategies to keep and to extend their client base, especially with the explosive growth of customers' data and interaction touch‐points. Hence, banks and fintechs are in fierce competition to transform customers' data that incorporate their transactions into pertinent and significant knowledge for decision making. In this article, we present a novel system aimed toward solving a long‐standing and challenging issue: obtaining classifiers to automatically categorize bank transactions for a Smart Budget Manager. We fit and test our system using real data. The strength of our system lies in the novel combination of incremental machine learning algorithms with a natural language understanding for a fine‐grained categorization of bank transactions. Our system serves as a base layer for other advanced banking applications such as segmentation, next best offers and credit scoring. Our system is deployed in a real banking application of a Tunisian bank and has shown bank and customer's satisfaction.

Through the important achievement of deep Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) in the context of medical image classification, various clinical applications have been provided to detect lesions from Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and Computed Tomography (CT) scans. In the diagnosis process for the liver cancer from Dynamic Contrast-Enhanced MRI (DCE-MRI), radiologists consider three phases during contrast injection: before injection, arterial phase, and portal phase for instance. Even if the contrast agent helps in enhancing the tumoral tissues, the diagnosis may be very difficult due to the possible low contrast and pathological tissues surrounding the tumors (cirrhosis). Alongside, in the medical field, ontologies have proven their effectiveness to solve several clinical problems such as offering shareable terminologies, vocabularies, and databases. In this article, we propose a multi-label CNN classification approach based on a parallel preprocessing algorithm. This algorithm is an extension of our previous work cited in the International Conference on Pattern Recognition and Artificial Intelligence (ICPRAI) 2020. The aim of our approach is to ameliorate the detection of HCC lesions and to extract more information about the detected tumor such as the stage, the localization, the size, and the type thanks to the use of ontologies. Moreover, the integration of such information has improved the detection process. In fact, experiments conducted by testing with real patient cases have shown that the proposed approach reached an accuracy of 93% using MRI patches of [Formula: see text] pixels, which is an improvement compared with our previous works.

Its detection is one of the fundamental tasks of Natural Language Processing (NLP). It consists of identifying the degree of semantic similarity between sentences that convey the same meaning with different words. Although many researchers focused on this task on the English language, there are few works for other languages like the Arabic. It has presented important challenges because of its richness of features and processing complexities. Nowadays, deep neural networks have yielded immense success in most NLP applications. In this paper, a Siamese architecture is proposed for Arabic paraphrase detection. It has proven its relevance for semantic textual similarity. Indeed, the effectiveness of feed forward and recurrent neural networks models are studied. Experiments are conducted on the paraphrased Open-Source Arabic Corpora (OSAC). It is generated semi-automatically and validated using the benchmark SemEval. Evaluations demonstrated that Gated Recurrent Unit (GRU) outperformed Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) and other state-of-the-art methods.

(Martyniaceae) is newly reported for the flora of Tunisia and North Africa as a naturalised alien. Extensive field investigations in northern Tunisia allowed the discovery of three populations ofP. louisianica(Miller) Thell. consisting of 18 individuals found at the edges of “Oued Béja” and at roadside within an irrigated land in Nabeul region, where plant specimens were in flowers and fruits. Moreover, further sites were recorded for another member of the family Martyniaceae (Ibicella lutea(Lindl.) Van Eselt.), already reported and known in Tunisia and Algeria within North Africa. Additional information for both species on their current distribution areas and their habits are provided. Details of their morphological and distinguishing features are illustrated.

In semi-arid regions that are characterized by large agricultural activities, a high volume of water is needed to cover the water requirements for agricultural production. Due to low precipitation and the associated limited availability of surface water, aquifers often represent the main source of irrigation water in these regions. Especially in coastal aquifers, high groundwater abstraction rates may change the flow dynamics of the aquifer and may lead to saltwater intrusion. In this study, within the framework of German–Moroccan international cooperation, the agricultural areas for the summer period 2019 of the Chtouka coastal aquifer in southern Morocco are classified using optical and multi-spectral Sentinel 2 data. Based on the developed land use maps, the groundwater abstraction for irrigation is then quantified by referring to local farmers’ irrigation practices. Following this approach, the total amount of groundwater abstraction is estimated at 157 million m3 for the summer period 2019 in the Chtouka aquifer.

Both deal, at least partly, withOthello, and both can be considered subversive re-visions of Shakespeare’s play which aim to articulate oppositional intervention in the canon. These similarities notwithstanding, the plays have not often been studied concurrently. Also, while several critics have explored them, mostly separately, in terms of their adaptation/appropriation of Shakespeare, seeking to spell out the transformations they have brought to the “original” text, little has been said about how the iconic figure of Shakespeare still holds sway in these new dramas, albeit in different ways and to varying degrees. Likewise, their dramatization of the character of Othello remains rather understudied. This essay explores the “new” Othellos of the two plays, contending that their positioning in the two texts evinces some similarities while their characterization differs widely, given the plays’ generic difference, but mostly the two playwrights’ rather divergent feminist perspectives which, in turn, substantially shape the plays’ respective appropriation techniques.

SummaryNew business models underpinned by new standards of openness, flexibility, and agility are arising in the banking sector. Therefore, banks have to establish new strategies to keep and to extend their client base, especially with the explosive growth of customers' data and interaction touch‐points. Hence, banks and fintechs are in fierce competition to transform customers' data that incorporate their transactions into pertinent and significant knowledge for decision making. In this article, we present a novel system aimed toward solving a long‐standing and challenging issue: obtaining classifiers to automatically categorize bank transactions for a Smart Budget Manager. We fit and test our system using real data. The strength of our system lies in the novel combination of incremental machine learning algorithms with a natural language understanding for a fine‐grained categorization of bank transactions. Our system serves as a base layer for other advanced banking applications such as segmentation, next best offers and credit scoring. Our system is deployed in a real banking application of a Tunisian bank and has shown bank and customer's satisfaction.

Through the important achievement of deep Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) in the context of medical image classification, various clinical applications have been provided to detect lesions from Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and Computed Tomography (CT) scans. In the diagnosis process for the liver cancer from Dynamic Contrast-Enhanced MRI (DCE-MRI), radiologists consider three phases during contrast injection: before injection, arterial phase, and portal phase for instance. Even if the contrast agent helps in enhancing the tumoral tissues, the diagnosis may be very difficult due to the possible low contrast and pathological tissues surrounding the tumors (cirrhosis). Alongside, in the medical field, ontologies have proven their effectiveness to solve several clinical problems such as offering shareable terminologies, vocabularies, and databases. In this article, we propose a multi-label CNN classification approach based on a parallel preprocessing algorithm. This algorithm is an extension of our previous work cited in the International Conference on Pattern Recognition and Artificial Intelligence (ICPRAI) 2020. The aim of our approach is to ameliorate the detection of HCC lesions and to extract more information about the detected tumor such as the stage, the localization, the size, and the type thanks to the use of ontologies. Moreover, the integration of such information has improved the detection process. In fact, experiments conducted by testing with real patient cases have shown that the proposed approach reached an accuracy of 93% using MRI patches of [Formula: see text] pixels, which is an improvement compared with our previous works.

Its detection is one of the fundamental tasks of Natural Language Processing (NLP). It consists of identifying the degree of semantic similarity between sentences that convey the same meaning with different words. Although many researchers focused on this task on the English language, there are few works for other languages like the Arabic. It has presented important challenges because of its richness of features and processing complexities. Nowadays, deep neural networks have yielded immense success in most NLP applications. In this paper, a Siamese architecture is proposed for Arabic paraphrase detection. It has proven its relevance for semantic textual similarity. Indeed, the effectiveness of feed forward and recurrent neural networks models are studied. Experiments are conducted on the paraphrased Open-Source Arabic Corpora (OSAC). It is generated semi-automatically and validated using the benchmark SemEval. Evaluations demonstrated that Gated Recurrent Unit (GRU) outperformed Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) and other state-of-the-art methods.

(Martyniaceae) is newly reported for the flora of Tunisia and North Africa as a naturalised alien. Extensive field investigations in northern Tunisia allowed the discovery of three populations ofP. louisianica(Miller) Thell. consisting of 18 individuals found at the edges of “Oued Béja” and at roadside within an irrigated land in Nabeul region, where plant specimens were in flowers and fruits. Moreover, further sites were recorded for another member of the family Martyniaceae (Ibicella lutea(Lindl.) Van Eselt.), already reported and known in Tunisia and Algeria within North Africa. Additional information for both species on their current distribution areas and their habits are provided. Details of their morphological and distinguishing features are illustrated.
