    This work studies the importance of the United States as a world power, focused on the advertising sector.     This work attempts to verify if it is viable to create a new tour of mysteries and legends through the Madrid neighborhood of Malasaña. First, the history of dark tourism will be briefly explained, and then the viability of the aforementioned tour will be verified. This will be done through a public survey and a market analysis. Subsequently, the tour will be designed, including the creation of a new brand, with the corresponding communication plan to make it known by the public.     El suicidio es una de las principales causas de muerte en todo el mundo, y la principal forma de evitarlo es mediante su prevención. La prevención del suicidio no solo es importante para salvar vidas, también ayuda a mejorar las vidas de aquellas personas que lidien con estos pensamientos y mejora la salud mental de la población. Además, tratar la cuestión del suicidio no solo afecta a la persona que lo sufre, sino también a su entorno cercano, por eso la prevención y la reducción del estigma que lo acompaña, son cruciales. Este estudio investiga y desarrolla la aplicación de Inteligencia Artificial para la prevención del suicidio en redes sociales, mediante el desarrollo de un clasificador que identifique publicaciones con y sin tendencias suicidas, con el objetivo de brindar la asistencia oportuna a aquellos que están en riesgo. Para obtener un modelo de clasificación fiable se realizan varios experimentos, con el fin de encontrar el modelo que logre el mejor rendimiento. Una vez obtenido este modelo, ha sido integrado en una aplicación que permite ponerlo a prueba con publicaciones reales extraídas de Twitter.     El discurso de odio es un fenómeno que inunda las redes sociales en la actualidad y, cada vez más, requiere de un estudio exhaustivo para comprenderlo en profundidad y encontrar contramedidas efectivas. Ante la ausencia de herramientas flexibles para el análisis de fenómenos de esta índole, se propone un sistema de información modular cuyo cometido es recoger publicaciones de redes sociales y almacenarlas para su posterior procesado y análisis. Se proponen además mecanismos de procesado adicionales para la extracción de conocimiento, como es en este caso la clasificación de texto mediante NLP, empleando tecnologías pioneras de Deep Learning como son los modelos de lenguaje Transformer. Esta información generada nos permite realizar análisis en mayor profundidad y de fenómenos que antes eran imposibles de estudiar de forma automatizada. A lo largo del desarrollo, mantener la modularidad ha sido una prioridad para facilitar la flexibilidad del sistema a la hora de adaptarse a diferentes redes sociales u objetivos de investigación si estas requieren la sustitución de alguno de los módulos. El diseño orientado a objetos del sistema permite diseñar interfaces universales entre las clases para poder reemplazarlas con facilidad. Para interactuar universalmente con sistemas externos, el sistema dispone de conectores que también actúan de interfaz entre ambas partes. Finalmente, se ha propuesto un ejemplo de uso del sistema a través de una prueba de análisis. Esta prueba ha demostrado que el sistema no solamente cumple con su función, sino que además ha podido aportar información de suficiente corrección y calidad como para obtener unos resultados de análisis coherentes.     Os recursos humanos são um dos maiores ativos de qualquer empresa visto que estes providenciam a possibilidade para realizar produtos ou serviços. A revolução tecnológica, a pandemia do COVID-19 e a competitividade do mercado laboral contribuem para um clima de incerteza e permanente renovação de staff dentro das empresas. Isto significa permanências curtas dos funcionários, mas, mais importante, leva a que os repositórios de competências de uma empresa possam ficar, por vezes, empobrecidos e, deste modo, pode pôr em causa a execução dos produtos e serviços pelos quais uma empresa é reconhecida. Recentemente, têm surgido plataformas online com o objetivo de atrair, designar funções, treinar, mas sobretudo reter os talentos, tudo isto só é alcançado revendo e melhorando permanentemente as competências de cada recurso. Estas plataformas utilizam quase sempre mecanismos de inteligência artificial. Neste trabalho, apresenta-se uma revisão literária das técnicas de inteligência artificial que podem estar presentes nestas plataformas. Esta revisão literária apresenta 4 questões de investigação que, juntas, respondem a uma questão de investigação mais ampla: “Como implementar uma destas plataformas, sendo inovador?”. A primeira questão é relativa aos processos automatizados de leitura e extração de informação de currículos. A segunda questão é relativa à inferência de competências, através de outras competências ou informações previamente extraídas de currículos, e é neste ponto que se pretende inovar quando em comparação com as soluções existentes. A terceira questão é relativa à existência de sistemas multiagente que associam recursos a tarefas de uma forma otimizada. Por último, a quarta questão de investigação é relativa à aplicabilidade de algoritmos genéticos também na associação de funcionários a tarefas numa empresa. Os resultados da revisão literária mostram que as 4 questões foram respondidas com sucesso. A revisão literária seguiu a metodologia PRISMA, tendo sido realizada a pesquisa em 2 fontes distintas. Foram selecionados 44 artigos, de entre os 27361 encontrados, que foram filtrados através de controlo de qualidade ou leituras rápidas de títulos e resumos. Por último, tendo em consideração a revisão literária realizada, foi implementado e testado um sistema que se assemelha a um mercado de talentos, com inferência de competências. O emparelhamento entre recursos e tarefas foi feito através de um sistema multiagente e de um algoritmo genético. Foi, ainda, realizada uma análise de usabilidade. Desta forma, podemos concluir que o resultado final foi atingido, pois quer a revisão literária quer o sistema implementado foram atividades realizadas com sucesso. Human resources are one of the biggest assets in companies since they possess the skills and expertise to deliver products and services. The COVID-19 pandemic and the technological revolution both increased employee turnover to a level where companies can hardly keep up with the pace, leading to worst talents management. Recently, online platforms, known as talent markets, have become more and more popular and they have the main objective to attract, designate tasks, train and, above all, retain existing employees. Most of these online platforms use artificial intelligence. This work presents a systematic review in artificial intelligence techniques that allow automatization of the processes of talent management. Four research questions were elaborated that, altogether, answer a broader research question which is: “How to implement an innovative talent market?”. The first question is relative to the automatized processes of information extraction out of resumes. The second question is related to the skill inference process, it is here that innovation is expected when comparing with existing solutions. In the third and fourth research questions, literature over multiagent systems and genetic algorithms dedicated to the optimization of task execution is provided. In the review, 44 papers were selected out of an initial set of 27361. In addition to the systematic review, a system is also proposed that resembles already existing solutions. Innovation is achieved by exploring skill inference, in addition to using already existing techniques in the area of information recognition. A multiagent system and genetic algorithms were also developed for an optimized task and employee pairing. This document also presents various tests to the system including a usability analysis. All in all, the outcome was rewarding, the systematic literature review was a success and so was the proposed solution.

    O homem é capaz de criar vários materiais, nomeadamente a cerâmica, que apresenta várias aplicações. A sua conceção exige elevado conhecimento técnico, a nível das matérias-primas e do seu processo de transformação. De todos os ramos da cerâmica, a indústria sanitária é aquela que necessita de um conhecimento mais aprofundado, para que se utilizem as melhores técnicas, garantido a qualidade e segurança do produto final. O modelo de economia circular é baseado na valorização de materiais dentro de um sistema fechado, possibilitando assim, a redução, reutilização, recuperação e a reciclagem de materiais e energia. No âmbito da dissertação do mestrado em Engenharia Química – Ramo de Qualidade foi realizado um estudo na empresa ARCH, S.A que contemplou três objetivos principais: quantificar a água de lavagem utilizada nas várias seções do processo de fabrico, a implementação de medidas que permitissem diminuir o consumo de água e o desenvolvimento de uma estratégia para a recuperação do vidrado branco. As seções onde havia a necessidade de um maior foco devido ao seu elevado consumo de água foram a olaria 1.1 e a vidragem, consumos de 26% e 30% respetivamente em relação ao consumo total de água. Uma das medidas implementadas na vidragem foi a redução da lavagem total das cabines, havendo uma diminuição ao nível do consumo da água de 32,8 m3 . Nos equipamentos analisados da olaria 1.1 e vidragem foi calculada a matéria seca possível de ser recuperada bem como a percentagem de resíduos e de lamas correspondentes. Relativamente à recuperação do vidrado, foram usadas duas técnicas, o uso de uma centrífuga e posteriormente de uma aparadeira, tendo sido realizado um controlo de qualidade a ambos os vidrados, de forma a comprovar a sua viabilidade. No vidrado que foi possível reciclar, foi calculada também a percentagem de recuperação anual com base na aparadeira instalada na cabine na qual a quantidade de vidrado a recuperar foi cerca de 13% Man can create various materials, including ceramics, which have various applications. Its design requires high technical knowledge, in terms of raw materials and their transformation process. From all areas of ceramics, the sanitary industry is the one that needs more in-depth knowledge, in order to use the best techniques, guaranteeing the quality and safety of the final product. The circular economy model is based on the valorization of materials within a closed system, leading to, reduction, reuse, recovery and recycling of materials and energy. In the scope of the Master's thesis in Chemical Engineering – Quality, a study was carried out at the company ARCH, S.A, which contemplated three main objectives: the quantification of the water consumption in the various sections of the manufacturing process, the implementation of measures to reduce water consumption and the development of a strategy for the recovery of white glaze. The sections where there was a need for greater focus due to their high-water consumption were pottery 1.1 and glazing, consumption of 26% and 30% respectively regarding to total water consumption. One of the measures implemented in the glazing was the reduction of number of cabin washings, with a reduction in water consumption of 32.8 m3 . In the analyzed equipment of pottery 1.1 and glazing, the potential recovery of dry matter was estimated, as well as the percentage of waste and corresponding sludge. Regarding the recovery of the glaze, two techniques were used, the use of a centrifuge and later the use of a container that retains the excess of glaze, with a quality control carried out on both glazes, to prove their viability. The percentage of annual recovery was also calculated for the recycled glaze, based on the container installed in the cabin, in which the amount of glaze to be recovered was approximately 13%

    Com a constante evolução do mundo digital e tendo em consideração a situação pandémica atual, a utilização de emails como meio de comunicação apresenta um crescimento notório, assim como o email marketing, que é considerado o canal que gera o maior Return On Investment (ROI). Com as caixas de email sobrecarregadas, os utilizadores tendem a priorizar certos emails em detrimento de outros com base em algumas decisões, sendo a leitura do assunto um fator decisivo na sua abertura. Assim, pretende-se criar uma ferramenta de suporte aos editores das campanhas de email, que analisa e classifica um determinado assunto, de forma a aumentar a sua taxa de aberturas e consequente sucesso da campanha. Com base no histórico de emails enviados pela plataforma E-goi, procura-se criar um sistema que prevê o impacto de um determinado assunto, classificando-o de zero a cinco estrelas. Iniciado pela introdução ao projeto, na qual se identifica o problema existente e os objetivos propostos, e se apresenta a empresa na qual o projeto se enquadra, o presente documento visa contextualizar o leitor quanto aos conceitos mais relevantes relativos ao projeto e às soluções concorrentes existentes no mercado. De seguida, analisam-se técnicas de Natural Language Processing (NLP), assim como algoritmos de Machine Learning (ML) e Deep Learning (DL), de forma a concluir qual a melhor estratégia a adotar. Logo após, são apresentadas as frameworks de apoio à implementação mais utilizadas. Posteriormente, é elaborada a análise de valor de negócio que visa analisar e avaliar o propósito do projeto. Posto isto, é analisada e modelada a solução na qual se explica o domínio, os requisitos pretendidos e se apresentam duas soluções alternativas de design, seguidas da avaliação e escolha da mais adequada. Uma vez definida a melhor abordagem arquitetural, apresenta-se o design detalhado da solução, seguida da implementação da mesma. Por último, de modo a avaliar o potencial a nível funcional, a qualidade e usabilidade do sistema e a satisfação do utilizador, apresentam-se métodos de avaliação baseados em testes de software, testes de hipóteses, inquéritos e no modelo Quantitative Evaluation Framework (QEF). Regarding the constant evolution of the digital world and considering the current pandemic situation, the emails usage as a communication channel presents notable growth, as well as email marketing, which is considered the channel that generates the highest ROI. With mailboxes overloaded, users tend to prioritize certain emails over others based on some decisions, being the reading of the subject a decisive factor in its opening. Thus, it is intended to create a support tool for the email campaigns editors, which analyzes and classifies a certain subject, in order to increase its openings rate and consequent success of the campaign. Based on the history of emails sent by the E-goi platform, an attempt is made to create a system that predicts the impact of a given subject, classifying it from zero to five stars. Initiated by the introduction of the project, which identifies the existing problem and the proposed objectives, and presents the company in which the project fits, this document aims to contextualize the reader regarding the most relevant concepts related to the project and the competing solutions existing in the market. Then, NLP techniques are analyzed as well as ML and DL algorithms in order to conclude which is the best strategy to adopt. Soon after, the most used implementation support frameworks are presented. Subsequently, the business value analysis is performed to analyze and evaluate the purpose of the project. Therefore, the solution is analyzed and modeled, explaining the domain and the requirements and presenting two alternative design solutions followed by the evaluation and choice of the most appropriate one. Once the best architectural approach is defined, the detailed design of the solution is presented, followed by its implementation. Finally, in order to assess the functional potential, quality and usability of the system and user satisfaction, evaluation methods based on software tests, hypothesis tests, surveys and the QEF model are presented.

    El moro ha sido históricamente en Cataluña -y en buena parte de la Península- un recurso muy poderoso de construcción identitaria a través de la alteridad. La razón es que se asociaba a todo aquello que era ajeno o diferente al universo mental autóctono. La aparición del moro en contextos festivos conlleva una clara intencionalidad política por parte de las clases dominantes (monarquía e Iglesia): se trataba de crear una imagen que permtiese definir con nitidez al moro como un enemigo cultural de la sociedad, un adversario político y territorial. En esta tesis se tratan las entrades reales y fastos regios, así como la nueva fiesta del Corpus Christi y la posterior creación de las fiestas patronales como principales marcos contextuales donde ubicar dichas plasmaciones, las cuales iban cargadas ideológicamente con este componente de intencionalidad, componente que se incrementó claramente a partir de los siglos XVI y XVII, después de la pérdida de Constantinopla en 1453 y con la proliferación de corsarios por todo el Mediterráneo. También se realiza el seguimiento histórico exhaustivo de la Turquía o Patera, un entremès de moros y cristianos que se documenta en Igualada (Barcelona) entre 1489 y 1896. De origen seguramente anterior, dicha representación podría considerarse como la más importante de su género en Cataluña, almenos entre las que tuvieron continuidad regular en lo que afecta a sus apariciones. Además, esta plasmación festiva parece tenir consecuencias de rabiosa actualidad en la fiesta de Reyes que se celebra desde 1899 en dicha localidad. Actualmente dicha fiesta pasa por un proceso de replanteamiento ya que se contemplan possibles incomodidades por parte de col·lectivos potencialment racializados. El moro ha suposat històricament a Catalunya -i bona part de la Península Ibèrica- un poderós recurs de construcció d'identitat mitjançant l'alteritat, ja que s'associava a tot allò que era aliè i diferent a l'univers mental autòcton. L'aparició del moro en contextos festius portava associada una manifesta intencionalitat política per part de les classes dominants (monarquia i església): es tractava de crear una imatge que permetés definir amb nitidesa el moro com un enemic social i cultural, un adversari polític i territorial. En aquesta tesi s'aborden les entrades i festes reials, la nova festa del Corpus Christi i la posterior aparició de les festes patronals com els marcs de creació de contextos on ubicar aquestes plasmacions, les quals anaven carregades ideològicament amb aquest component intencionat, fortament incrementat a partir dels segles XVI i XVII després de la caiguda de Constantinoble l'any 1453 i amb la proliferació de corsaris per tota la Mediterrània. També es realitza el seguiment exhaustiu de la Turquia o Patera, un entremès de moros i cristians que es documenta a Igualada (Barcelona) entre 1489 i 1896. D'origen segurament anterior, aquesta representació podria considerar-se com la més important del seu gènere a Catalunya d'entre les que tingueren una continuïtat regular pel que fa a les seves aparicions. A més, aquesta plasmació festiva sembla tenir conseqüències rabiosament contemporànies en la festa dels Reis que des de 1899 se celebra a la mateixa població. Aquesta festa actualment viu un procés de replantejament per la possible incomoditat dels col·lectius potencialment racialitzats. Historically, the figure of the moor has been used as a powerful identity-building device. The importance of this resource in Catalonia and most of the Iberian Peninsula lies in the idea of alterity, linked to what was considered as foreign or strange. In a festive context, the moors appear tied up to the political purpose of the ruling classes (Monarchy and Church) of defining them as social and political enemies. In this thesis, we address how the royal entries and royal celebrations, as well as the new Feast of Corpus Christi and festivities of the patron saints, were used as an ideological framework and showcase. These events provided the necessary context for the new negative conception of the moors to be instilled - a project that saw increasing success during the 16th and 17th centuries, coinciding with the fall of Constantinople in 1453 and the expansion of privateering in the Mediterranean Sea. We have also made an extensive historical analysis of a show called Turquia or Patera (Moors and Christians), held in Igualada (Barcelona) from 1489 to 1896. Even though we could probably talk of an earlier origin, this festivity can be considered perhaps as the most relevant of its genre in Catalonia. Moreover, it appears to have had obvious effects and consequences in another local festivity, "Reis" (the Three Wise Men), which is celebrated in the city since 1899 and is currently under analysis to rid it of its possibly offensive ethnic traits.

    Monumental historical buildings are worldwide recognized as a fundamental component of the World Cultural Heritage to be preserved for future generations. Their structural performance analysis needs to face challenging issues such as the usually limited initial knowledge, the generally large dimensions, and the great structural complexity coming from overlapped construction phases over centuries. The structural behavior of historical constructions, therefore, differs from ordinary buildings, since resulting from the interaction of different parts, recognizable as ‘structural units’. A methodology accounting for all the peculiarities of monumental masonry buildings is proposed with reference to the specific case study of La Certosa di Calci (Italy). The monumental cluster is ideally decomposed into its structural units based on a preliminary knowledge phase, allowing to perform detailed structural analyses only on selected areas without resorting to a cumbersome and time demanding global model. The aggregate-effect influence over the structural behavior of a single unit is investigated by means of nonlinear analysis performed on different configurations. Achieved results are accurately analyzed, finally proposing a simplified model where one structural unit is represented through a FEM model and the interaction effects due to the adjacent portions are simulated through a calibrated spring system.     El suicidio es una de las principales causas de muerte en todo el mundo, y la principal forma de evitarlo es mediante su prevención. La prevención del suicidio no solo es importante para salvar vidas, también ayuda a mejorar las vidas de aquellas personas que lidien con estos pensamientos y mejora la salud mental de la población. Además, tratar la cuestión del suicidio no solo afecta a la persona que lo sufre, sino también a su entorno cercano, por eso la prevención y la reducción del estigma que lo acompaña, son cruciales. Este estudio investiga y desarrolla la aplicación de Inteligencia Artificial para la prevención del suicidio en redes sociales, mediante el desarrollo de un clasificador que identifique publicaciones con y sin tendencias suicidas, con el objetivo de brindar la asistencia oportuna a aquellos que están en riesgo. Para obtener un modelo de clasificación fiable se realizan varios experimentos, con el fin de encontrar el modelo que logre el mejor rendimiento. Una vez obtenido este modelo, ha sido integrado en una aplicación que permite ponerlo a prueba con publicaciones reales extraídas de Twitter.     El discurso de odio es un fenómeno que inunda las redes sociales en la actualidad y, cada vez más, requiere de un estudio exhaustivo para comprenderlo en profundidad y encontrar contramedidas efectivas. Ante la ausencia de herramientas flexibles para el análisis de fenómenos de esta índole, se propone un sistema de información modular cuyo cometido es recoger publicaciones de redes sociales y almacenarlas para su posterior procesado y análisis. Se proponen además mecanismos de procesado adicionales para la extracción de conocimiento, como es en este caso la clasificación de texto mediante NLP, empleando tecnologías pioneras de Deep Learning como son los modelos de lenguaje Transformer. Esta información generada nos permite realizar análisis en mayor profundidad y de fenómenos que antes eran imposibles de estudiar de forma automatizada. A lo largo del desarrollo, mantener la modularidad ha sido una prioridad para facilitar la flexibilidad del sistema a la hora de adaptarse a diferentes redes sociales u objetivos de investigación si estas requieren la sustitución de alguno de los módulos. El diseño orientado a objetos del sistema permite diseñar interfaces universales entre las clases para poder reemplazarlas con facilidad. Para interactuar universalmente con sistemas externos, el sistema dispone de conectores que también actúan de interfaz entre ambas partes. Finalmente, se ha propuesto un ejemplo de uso del sistema a través de una prueba de análisis. Esta prueba ha demostrado que el sistema no solamente cumple con su función, sino que además ha podido aportar información de suficiente corrección y calidad como para obtener unos resultados de análisis coherentes.     Os recursos humanos são um dos maiores ativos de qualquer empresa visto que estes providenciam a possibilidade para realizar produtos ou serviços. A revolução tecnológica, a pandemia do COVID-19 e a competitividade do mercado laboral contribuem para um clima de incerteza e permanente renovação de staff dentro das empresas. Isto significa permanências curtas dos funcionários, mas, mais importante, leva a que os repositórios de competências de uma empresa possam ficar, por vezes, empobrecidos e, deste modo, pode pôr em causa a execução dos produtos e serviços pelos quais uma empresa é reconhecida. Recentemente, têm surgido plataformas online com o objetivo de atrair, designar funções, treinar, mas sobretudo reter os talentos, tudo isto só é alcançado revendo e melhorando permanentemente as competências de cada recurso. Estas plataformas utilizam quase sempre mecanismos de inteligência artificial. Neste trabalho, apresenta-se uma revisão literária das técnicas de inteligência artificial que podem estar presentes nestas plataformas. Esta revisão literária apresenta 4 questões de investigação que, juntas, respondem a uma questão de investigação mais ampla: “Como implementar uma destas plataformas, sendo inovador?”. A primeira questão é relativa aos processos automatizados de leitura e extração de informação de currículos. A segunda questão é relativa à inferência de competências, através de outras competências ou informações previamente extraídas de currículos, e é neste ponto que se pretende inovar quando em comparação com as soluções existentes. A terceira questão é relativa à existência de sistemas multiagente que associam recursos a tarefas de uma forma otimizada. Por último, a quarta questão de investigação é relativa à aplicabilidade de algoritmos genéticos também na associação de funcionários a tarefas numa empresa. Os resultados da revisão literária mostram que as 4 questões foram respondidas com sucesso. A revisão literária seguiu a metodologia PRISMA, tendo sido realizada a pesquisa em 2 fontes distintas. Foram selecionados 44 artigos, de entre os 27361 encontrados, que foram filtrados através de controlo de qualidade ou leituras rápidas de títulos e resumos. Por último, tendo em consideração a revisão literária realizada, foi implementado e testado um sistema que se assemelha a um mercado de talentos, com inferência de competências. O emparelhamento entre recursos e tarefas foi feito através de um sistema multiagente e de um algoritmo genético. Foi, ainda, realizada uma análise de usabilidade. Desta forma, podemos concluir que o resultado final foi atingido, pois quer a revisão literária quer o sistema implementado foram atividades realizadas com sucesso. Human resources are one of the biggest assets in companies since they possess the skills and expertise to deliver products and services. The COVID-19 pandemic and the technological revolution both increased employee turnover to a level where companies can hardly keep up with the pace, leading to worst talents management. Recently, online platforms, known as talent markets, have become more and more popular and they have the main objective to attract, designate tasks, train and, above all, retain existing employees. Most of these online platforms use artificial intelligence. This work presents a systematic review in artificial intelligence techniques that allow automatization of the processes of talent management. Four research questions were elaborated that, altogether, answer a broader research question which is: “How to implement an innovative talent market?”. The first question is relative to the automatized processes of information extraction out of resumes. The second question is related to the skill inference process, it is here that innovation is expected when comparing with existing solutions. In the third and fourth research questions, literature over multiagent systems and genetic algorithms dedicated to the optimization of task execution is provided. In the review, 44 papers were selected out of an initial set of 27361. In addition to the systematic review, a system is also proposed that resembles already existing solutions. Innovation is achieved by exploring skill inference, in addition to using already existing techniques in the area of information recognition. A multiagent system and genetic algorithms were also developed for an optimized task and employee pairing. This document also presents various tests to the system including a usability analysis. All in all, the outcome was rewarding, the systematic literature review was a success and so was the proposed solution.
