    Authors: Fiduccia, Joanna;

    This thesis examines the function of the decorative in Edouard Vuillard's 1897 painting Large Interior with Six Figures. Departing from previous scholarship, which positions the Large Interior as the fulcrum of Vuillard's earlier intimist paintings and his later bourgeois genre scenes, I argue that the Large Interior exacerbated his experiments with the depiction of decorated interiors and the subjects who inhabit them. The use of the decorative in the Large Interior shows space itself to be the consequence of a subject's relationship to interiors--her own interior, and the interior in which she finds herself. This thesis situates Vuillard's insight within the historical context of decoration's heightened literal, pictorial and metaphorical significance in fin-de-siècle France, from the chauvinist agenda for the French decorative arts to the alignment of decorated interiors with new psychological theories and corresponding conceptions of selfhood. Through a close analysis of the Large Interior as well as other paintings from Vuillard's early oeuvre, I suggest that Vuillard's 1897 painting deploys the decorative to generate a space with equally radical consequences for painting and for subjectivity. Only such a strong characterization of decoration could possibly merit the role it would perform for modernism: the great "decorative threat," supposedly vanquished by cubism and yet plaguing painting for decades to follow. Decoration remained for Clement Greenberg the menace that must be used against itself for art to prevail over contemptible elements--not just commodity culture and kitsch, but everything domestic, feminine, and excessive associated with decoration. If, as Peter Wollens has written, the decorative is modernism's symptomatic shadow, understanding its role in modernist aesthetics and ideology demands that we develop a rigorous concept of it. In doing so, this thesis interrogates what has been repressed by the marginalization of the decorative, and why. In a final section, it traces the reemergence of the decorative in Picasso's 1914 collage and sculpture to suggest some conclusions to this end, and to attest to the radical relevance of Symbolism and the decorative for the history of modernism.

    Seramik ürünlerinin hammaddesi kildir. Kil ise doğanın olmazsa olmaz parçalarında biri olan bir tür toprak çeşididir. Kil, faklı mineralleri içerisinde barındıran yapısı ve kolayca şekillenebilmesinden dolayı yüzyıllar boyunca insanlar tarafından çeşitli amaçlarla kullanılmıştır. Killerden tabak, çanak, bardak gibi yaşamı kolaylaştıran çeşitli mutfak gereçleri elde edilirken, göze ve gönle hitap eden sanatsal çalışmalar da yapılmıştır. Bilhassa seramik sanatının olmazsa olmazlarından olan kil, seramik sanatçılarına farklı sanatsal çalışmaların kapılarını aralamıştır.Irak Kerkük Vilayeti Dakuk Kasabası civarında bulunan çömlekçi kili yörede bulunan bir kaç atölyenin yanında Cemal Zeyn Abidin ustanın çömlekçi atölyesinde de kullanılmakta ve aynı zamanda bu atölyede kullanıma hazır hale getirilip bölgede yer alan üniversite seramik eğitiminde ana malzeme olarak kullanılmaktadır. Bu çalışmada öncelikle Cemal Zeyn Abidin ustanın çömlekçi atölyesi ve çömlekçi kilinin hazırlanması, kullanımı hakkında araştırma yapılmış ve sonra çömlekçi kilinin fiziksel ve kimyasal özellikleri incelenmiştir. Bu kapsamda kilin yoğrulma suyu, 900°C'den 1150°C'ye kadar artan sıcaklıklarda 50°C'lik aralıklarla gözeneklilik, su emme, bulk yoğunlukları, ölçülmüş ve yine bu sıcaklıklar için pişme renklerine bakılmıştır. Bu çalışmada Kerkük-Dakuk Kasabası çömlekçi kilinin sanatsal seramikte kullanımı incelenmiştir. Farklı pişirim teknikleri ile birbirinden değişik çalışmalar ve astarlama yöntemleri kullanılarak elde edilen sonuçların seramik sanatı ilgililerine bir referans olması amaçlanmıştır. Raku, macho, paperclay, sagar, obvarna gibi pişirim tekniklerinin uygulandığı çalışmada bazı tekniklerde ilk denemede olumlu sonuçlar elde edilirken, bazı tekniklerde daha fazla uygulama yapmak gerekmiştir.Çalışmanın son kısmında tasarımı yapılan sanatsal seramik objelerde Dakuk çömlekçi kili ve bu kil ile yapılan dekorlama tekniklerinden bir kısmı kullanılmıştır. The raw material of ceramic products is dark. Clay is a kind of soil which is one of the indispensable parts of nature. The clay has been used for various purposes by people for centuries because of its structure and its shape that can be easily formed in different minerals. While various kitchen utensils such as plates, bowls, cups were made available to facilitate life, artistic works were also made to appeal to the mind and body. In particular, the clay, which is a sine qua non of ceramics art, opens doors of different artistic works to ceramic artists.Iraq Pottery Kiln located near Dakuk Town, Kirkuk Province, is used in pottery workshop of Cemal Zeyn Abidin beside several workshops located in the region. At the same time, this workshop is used as the main material in university ceramics education in the region. In this study, firstly Cemal Zeyn Abidin master's research on the preparation and use of pottery workshop and pottery kiln was conducted and then the physical and chemical properties of the potter kiln were examined. In this context, the porosity, water absorption, bulk densities,were measured for increasing temperature (900 ° C to 1150 °C). For these temperatures, the colors of the firing are checked. In this study, the use of pottery clay in Kirkuk-Dakuk Town was investigated in artistic ceramics. It is aimed that the results obtained by using different methods with different firing techniques and lining methods are a reference to the ceramic arts. In the study where the cooking techniques such as Raku, macho, paperclay, sagar, obvarna are applied, some techniques have positive results in the first experiment, and some techniques require alot of applications.Finally, some of the decorative techniques made with the Dakuk potter's clay and this clay were used in the artistic ceramic objects designed. 118

    Sahipolduğu sıra dışı coğrafi özellikleri sayesinde yüksek bir arkeolojikpotansiyele sahip olan Doğu Anadolu Bölgesi, Erken Tunç çağlarıyla birlikteKura ve Aras havzalarında yaşayan halklara ev sahipliği yapar. Hareket halindeve yerleşik yaşam şekillerine sahip hayvancı-tarımcı bu topluluklar kendineözgü özellikleri olan bir kültür yaratırlar. Bu kültürel yapının da en önemlibuluntu grubunu, tüm prehistorik kültürler de olduğu gibi seramikleroluşturmaktadır. Anadolu arkeolojisinde Karaz veya Kura-Aras seramiği olarakbilinen bu seramik daha çok parlak siyah dış yüzey rengi, kırmızı-siyah iç-dışyüzey renk kontrastları ve özgün dekorlarıyla tanınmaktadır. Kura-ArasKültürü’ne dair pek çok problem çoğu zaman bu seramikler üzerinden çözülmeyeçalışılmıştır. Özellikle Doğu-Anadolu merkezli araştırmaların yetersizliğikültürün bu topraklardaki gelişim sürecini anlaşılabilmesi açısından sorunteşkil etmektedir. Yakındoğu arkeolojisinin bu büyük ve sorunlu kültürününseramiklerine dair son dönemde yapılan disiplinler arası nitelikli deneyselçalışmalar ışığında gerçekleştirilen bazı gözlemler, bu makalenin temelinioluşturmaktadır. Kura-Aras seramikleri üzerinde yer alan dekor tekniklerininnasıl uygulanmış olabileceği üzerine gerçekleştirilen bu çalışmalar neticesindeözellikle alçak kabartma yani rölyef dekor tekniği için oldukça başarılısonuçlara ulaşılmıştır. Gerçekleştirilen deneysel çalışmalar ve makale, modernseramik sanatçılarından alınan görüş ve önerilerle içerik açısından daha dazenginleştirilmeye çalışılmıştır. With very significant archaeological potentialas a result of its extraordinary geographical characteristics, Eastern Anatoliasupported communities in the Kura and Aras basins throughout the Early BronzeAge. Living both mobile and sedentary lifestyles, these pastoralist andagriculturalist communities produced a unique culture characteristic of theirvaried lifestyle. As with many other prehistoric cultures, ceramics representthe most distinctive archaeological signature of this culture. Known as Karaz orKura–Araxes ceramics in Anatolian archaeology, this pottery is easilyrecognized for its characteristic black exterior color, red-black colorcontrast on the interior and exterior surfaces, and its unique decoration. Sofar, many archaeological questions related to the Kura-Araxes culture have beenexamined with the help of these ceramics. On the other hand, insufficientresearch has been a particular problem in understanding the development andinfluence of the Kura–Araxes culture in Eastern Anatolia. The basis of thisstudy is recent interdisciplinary and experimental examinations of the ceramicsof this unique and very significant prehistoric culture in the Near East. Thecontent of this study was further enriched with the opinions and suggestions ofsome modern ceramic artists.

    Authors: Demir, Ülkü;

    In 18th century, architecture had got its share from economic and social changes experienced in Ottoman Empire. Decomposition had began and differentiation in form-language occured in the Classical Ottoman Architecture which has evolved throughout centuries and gained a unique language. Laleli Mosque, dated 1764, is also a step of the change experienced.Concerning the period?s architectural environment, studies and researches made until today also includes Laleli Mosque. However, a study that evaluates this century?s Ottoman Architecture by examining only the interior has not been done before.First of all, the interior of the mosque is described in detail by on-site observation. In the following parts, the origins of these components have been searched in accordance with the aim of the study. These components have been examined and evaluated comparatively with the examples of the Ottoman Architecture and the architecture of the West.Having components which have been inherited from Classical Ottoman Architecture and ?new? features gained as a result of interaction with the West, Laleli Mosque is a hybrid structure of the 18th century. In this thesis, not only the studies and interpretations that have been made up to now are supported but also components having west influence are noticed and analysed. As a consequence, Laleli Mosque is a milestone of the period of decomposition in Ottoman architecture in 18th century and also a step of the change which will be experienced in the following century. 18. yüzyılda Osmanlı İmparatorluğu'nda ekonomik, sosyal ve toplumsal alanda yaşanan değişimlerden mimarlık da nasibini almıştır. Yüzyıllar içinde geçirdiği evrimle kendine özgü bir dile sahip olan Klasik Osmanlı mimarlığında çözülmeler başlamış, biçim dilinde farklılaşmalar meydana gelmiştir. 1764 tarihli Laleli Camisi de yaşanan değişimin basamaklarından biridir.Dönemin mimari ortamına ilişkin günümüze kadar yapılan çalışma ve araştırmalarda Laleli Camisi'ne de yer ayrılmaktadır. Ancak sadece iç mekanını irdeleyerek yüzyılın Osmanlı mimarlığını değerlendiren bir çalışma daha önce yapılmamıştır.İlk olarak caminin iç mekanı yerinde gözlem yapılarak ayrıntılı bir şekilde tasvir edilmiştir. İlerleyen bölümlerde, incelenen öğelerin, çalışmanın amacı çerçevesinde kökenleri araştırılmıştır. Bu öğeler, gerek Klasik dönem Osmanlı mimarlığından, gerek Batı mimarlığından örneklerle karşılaştırmalı olarak ele alınmış ve değerlendirilmiştir.Klasik Osmanlı mimarlığından miras alarak taşıdığı öğeleri ve Batı ile etkileşim sonucu sahip olduğu ?yeni? özellikleriyle Laleli Camisi 18. yüzyılın melez bir yapısıdır. Bu çalışmada, günümüze kadar yapılan araştırma ve yorumların bir kısmı desteklenmekle birlikte, iç mekanına ilişkin daha önce değinilmemiş Batı etkili unsurlar fark edilerek incelenmiştir. Tüm bunların sonucunda Laleli Camisi, 18. yüzyılda Klasik Osmanlı mimarlığındaki çözülme sürecinin bir aşaması ve gelecek yüzyılda yaşanacak olan değişimin bir basamağıdır. 165

    İlkel insanların çeşitli gereksinimleri ile ortaya çıkan ve bu nedenle en eski sanat dallarından birisi olan seramik sanatı, zaman içinde farklı uygarlıkların yarattığı, değişen yaşam biçimlerine göre özgünleşmiş formlar birer sanat eseri olarak günümüze kadar ulaşmıştır. Başlangıçta sadece gereksinime uygun işlevsel kaplar ve kült eşyası olarak şekillendirilen seramik ürünler, zamanla estetik kaygı ile üretilen seçkin sanat eserlerine dönüşmüştür. Seramik biçimler üzerine uygulanan renkler, toplımsal ve kültürel değerleri ve olayları yansıtmalarının yanı sıra, ürüne estetik görünüm kazandırırlar.Günümüzde sanatın genişlemesiyle dünyada güç kazanan ve kabul gören seramik sanatı, malzemenin sağladığı olanaklar ve kişisel deneyimlerin birleşmesiyle, yeni üsluplara dönüşen sonuçlar ortaya çıkmıştır. Seramik çamurlarının renk veren oksitler, seramik boyaları veya doğal killer ile karıştırılarak yapay olarak renklendirilmesine renkli çamur adı verilir. Bir dekor uygulaması olarak renklendirilmiş seramik çamuru farklı dekor alternatifleri ile beraber sanatçıya her zaman yeni ürünleri oluşturma şansı sunmaktadır. Bu araştırmada, renkli çamurun tanımı ve tarihsel gelişiminin yanı sıra, renkli çamurun hazırlanması, seramik sanatçısına sağlayacağı çeşitli anlatım olanakları ve teknikleri incelenmiştir. Renklendirilmiş seramik çamuruyla yapılan dekor uygulamalarının gerek Türk, gerekse yabancı sanatçı çalışmalarında sanatsal kullanımı ele alınarak değerlendirilmiştir.ANAHTAR KELİMELER : Renklendirilmiş seramik çamuru, Renklendirilmiş çamurlarla yapılan dekor uygulamaları Ceramic art is one of the old types of art which has been grown out of the necessity of first human (troglodytes).     Authors: Şanes Doğru, Mesude Hülya;

    Türkler, Anadolu'ya yerleşmeleriyle birlikte, kendi kültür, sanat ve birikimlerini, yerli ustalarınkilerle birleştirerek pek çok alanda çeşitli eserler vermeye başlamışlardır. Konumuz Selçuklulardan 20. yüzyıla kadar tezhip, cilt ve mimaride kullanılan zencerekleri (ince bordürleri) kapsamaktadır. Zencerek (zencirek), zincirleme halkalar şeklindeki süsleme motiflere verilen isimdir. Bir bordürün zencerek olabilmesi için kesintisiz olarak devam etmesi, zencereği oluşturan hatların birbirlerinin alt ve üstlerinden geçmeleri gereklidir. Türk süsleme sanatlarının genelinde görülen zencerekler bu tez kapsamında sadece tezhipte, ciltte ve mimaride (taş, çini) olmak üzere ele alınmıştır. Selçuklular Anadolu'ya hakim oldukları 12. ve 13. yüzyıllarda yapılardaki taçkapılarda ve dış cepehelerde, çinili bölümlerde, yazma eserlerde (cilt kapaklarında ve tezhiplerde) özellikle geometrik uygulamalarıyla dikkati çekerler. Bu uygulamaların bir bölümünü de zencerekler oluştururlar. Üç nokta esasına dayanan ve sonsuzluğu simgeleyen zencerekler, ikili, üçlü, dörtlü, beşli, altılı hatlar (şeritler) şeklinde kullanılırlar. Zencereği eserlerinde yoğun olarak kullanan Selçuklular en basitinden giriftine kadar hemen her alanda uygulamışlardır. Özellikle Selçukluların başkenti Konya'daki mimari eserlerde ve yazmalarda bunların en güzel örneklerine rastlamak mümkündür. Beylikler Devrine ait bazı mimari yapılardan ve özellikle bu konuda çalışmalar yapan kişilerin ortaya çıkartabildikleri yazma eserlerden Anadolu Selçuklularının uygulamalarıyla paralellik gösterdiklerini görmekteyiz. Selçukluların son dönemlerindeki gibi geometrik süslemeler bitkisel kökenli süslemelerle birlikte kullanılmaktadır. Osmanlılar Devrinde 16. yüzyılda Türk Sanatları her dalında zirveye ulaşmıştır. Yapılar ve yazma eserlerde de bu zenginliği görmek mümkündür. Selçuklularda görülen anıtsal taçkapı, süsleme geleneğinin ortadan kalkması, yapıların sadeleşmesi,ancak Mimar Sinan gibi usta mimarlarla oluşturulan muhteşem dini ve sivil yapılarda özellikle kullanılan bitkisel motiflerin ağırlıkta olduğu örnekleri görmek mümkündür. Zencerekler oldukça basitleşmiş, çinili bölümlerde bordur, yazı çerçevesi olarak veya vazolarda kullanılmaktadır. Sivil yapılar ve bazı türbelerle, bazı camilerin zencereklerin dış yüzeylerinde erken dönemlerde basit zencerekler görülür. Yazma eserler ve cilt kapaklarındaysa zencerekler Anadolu Selçuklularında kullanılan zencereklere göre daha basit ve ikili, üçlü iplikler şeklinde görülürler. Barok ve Rokoko etkisinin görüldüğü 18. ve 19. yüzyıllar içinde geometrik zencerekler her alanda da iyice basitleşmiştir, ya da artık kullanılmazlar. Upon settling in Anatolia, Turks stated to produce works of arts in many branches by combining their own culture, artistry and heritage with that of the local craftsmen. Our subjects deals with the zencerek (fine fringes) used by the Seljuks in gilding, binding and architecture. Zencerek (zencirek) is the term used for decorative motifs in the form of ring-shaped hoops. In order for a fringe to be considered a zencerek, it has to continue unbroken and the lines forming the zencerek have to intertwine at top and bottom. Zencereks generally observed in the Turkish decorative arts have been treated only in the context of gilding, binding and architecture (stone, mosaic) within the scope of this thesis. The Seljuks' most noteworthy works are the geometric experiments on portal and outer facades, mosaic sections, manuscripts (book covers and gilding). Part of these implementations consist of zencereks. Based on the three point principle, and symbolizing infinity, these are drawn in borders (strip) of two, three, four, five and six. Seljuks have used zencereks frequently in many different branches of art, ranging from the most simple to the most sophisticated. The most exquisite samples of zencerek can be observed on architectural works and manuscripts preserved in the Seljuk capital of Konya. Some architectural buildings from the Principalities Era and especially the manuscripts discovered by people who undertook studies in this regard display a similarity with the implementations of the Anatolian Seljuks. Geometrical motifs as are seen in the last periods of the Seljuks are used in conjunction with vegetal decorations. Turkish arts reached a peak in the 16th century during the Ottoman Era. This magnitude can also be witnessed in the buildings and writings dating back to that time. The monumental portal and decorative motifs faded into oblivion, buildings were simplified, however samples of vegetal motifs inmagnificent religious and civil works created by master architects such as Mimar Sinan abounded Zencereks were simplified, fringes were used in mosaic sections, as letter frame or on vases. Simple zencereks can be observed on some of the outer surface of some civic buildings, tombs and mosques. Zencereks appearing on some manuscripts and bindings in double or triple thread form are less elaborate than those used by the Anatolian Seljuks. Geometrical zencereks became over-simplified in every way in the 18th and 19th centuries which were influenced by the Baroque and Rococo styles and finally were abandoned altogether. 778

    Authors: Yariş, Sahure;

    Tombstones, being among the finest examples of Turkish art in terms of aesthetic and plastic, are the indication of life, death, afterlife feelings, thoughts and understanding of Turkish people. It is also possible to observe the properties of artistic and socio-cultural understanding of the period to which Tombstones belong.This thesis called `The tombstones of a group of mosques and graveyards in Üsküdar` has investigated nine graveyards of the mosques. The reason why we selected these graveyards in this thesis is that they are found in ancient Uskudar area and that they do not take place in the resources, nor have they been investigated. In the graveyards there are 248 and a total of 263 tombstones have been identified. 108 of them are both head-stone and foot-stone, 143 are only head-stone, and 8 of them are only foot-stone. Of these stones 126 samples belong to men, while 91 to women. The identifications of 46 samples are unclear.194 of the works we examined have the dates, while the dates of the remaining 69 have not been determined. According to the cemetery's gravestones found in these works, the dates are as follows; Rum Mehmed Pasha Mosque graveyard from the end of the 15th century to the mid-19th century, Gülfem Hatun Mosque graveyard from the beginning of the 17th century to the middle of the 17th century, Solak Sinan Mosque graveyard from the end of the 19th century to the middle of the 16th century, Sinan Pasha Mosque graveyard from the beginning of the 18th century to the middle of the 19th century, Kurban Nasuhi Mosque graveyard from the end of 16th century to the beginning of 20th century, Çingene Fırını Mosque graveyard from the end of the 16th century to the end of 19th century, Mirah (Imrahor) Mosque graveyard from the end of the 16th century to the end of 19th century, Ayazma Mosque graveyard from the end of 17th century to the beginning of 20th century, and Tevaşi Hasan Ağa Mosque graveyard from the end of the 16th century to the middle of the 19th century.Marble was mainly used in these works. In 242 samples there is marble, while stone is seen in 21 samples. Embossing technique has been identified as the processing technique of the stone.Three types of burial, being earthen, framed and symbolic tombs, were determined in the examined graveyards. In terms of form male and female gravestones were evaluated separately. The headings on the tombstones are noteworthy in that they are the elements ending the stone. 21 different headings in men's graves were identified. On female gravestones only one heading form was determined. There are texts of the inscription indicating the identity of the dead on the surface of their graves. In assessing the text of the inscriptions are five different subjects including appeal, prayer, identity, pray-demanding and history. These titles include titles, epithets, where the person lying in the grave from and his/her kinship relations. In addition, in the texts are also the information expressing whether the deceased died at a young age or of an illness or not.Embellishment programs of the tombstones are made by taking a detailed grouping. Floral motifs, objects motifs are classified as geometric motifs and architectural motifs. Iconographic development of motifs was introduced before it was tried to be specified. Tombstones in the 9 mosque graveyards in Üsküdar we have studied are the representatives of the capital Istanbul with respect to materials, processing, form and style embellishments. These works with the common characteristics of that period are important in terms of being an example of the aspects of the tombstones reflected to Turkish art.Keywords: Üsküdar mosque, tombstones, decoration, tombs Mezar taşları, Türk sanatının estetik ve plastik açıdan güzel örneklerinden biri olmasının yanı sıra, ait oldukları dönemin sanatsal ve sosyo- kültürel anlayışının özelliklerini görmekte mümkündür.`Üsküdar'da Yer Alan Bir Grup Cami Haziresindeki Mezar Taşları` adlı tez çalışmamızda 9 cami haziresi incelenmiştir. Bu hazireleri tezimizde seçmemizin nedeni, hem eski Üsküdar alanı içerisinde yer almış olmaları, hem de kaynaklarda çalışılmamış, incelenmemiş hazireler olmalarıdır. Hazirelerde 248 mezar olup toplam 263 mezar taşı tespit edilmiştir. Bunların 108'i hem baştaşı hem ayaktaşı, 143'ü baştaşı, 8'i ise sadece ayaktaşıdır. Bu taşlardan 126 örnek erkeklere, 91 örnek kadınlara ait mezar taşlarıdır. 46 örneğin ise kimliği belli değildir.İncelediğimiz eserlerin 194'ünde tarih mevcuttur. 69'unun ise tarihleri belirlenememiştir. Bu eserlerin hazirelere göre tarih sınırları içerisinde bulunan mezar taşlarına göre şöyledir; Rum Mehmet Paşa Camii Haziresi 15.yy'ın ortasından 19. yy'ın sonuna, Gülfem Hatun Camii Haziresi 17.yy'ın başından 17.yy'ın ortasına, Solak Sinan Camii Haziresi 16.yy'ın sonundan 19. yy'ın ortasına, Sinan Paşa Camii Haziresi 18.yy'ın başından 19.yy'ın sonuna, Kurban Nasuh Camii Haziresi 16.yy'ın sonundan 20.yy'ın başına, Çingene Fırını Camii Haziresi 16.yy'ın sonundan 19.yy'ın sonuna, Mirahur (İmrahor) Camii Haziresi 16.yy'ın sonundan 19.yy'ın sonuna, Ayazma Camii Haziresi 17.yy'ın sonundan 20.yy'ın başına, Tevaşi Hasan Ağa Camii Haziresi 16.yy'ın sonundan 19.yy'ın ortasına tarihlendirilmektedir.Eserlerde ağırlıklı olarak mermer malzeme kullanılmıştır. 242 örnekte mermer, 21 örnekte ise taş malzeme görülmektedir. Taşların işleniş tekniği olarak kabartma tekniği tespit edilmiştir.İncelenen hazirelerde toprak, çerçeveli ve sembolik lahit olmak üzere üç tip mezar çeşidi belirlenmiştir. Form bakımından ise erkek mezar taşları ayrı, kadın mezar taşları ise ayrı değerlendirilmiştir. Mezar taşlarında başlıklar, taşı sonlandıran öğeler olması bakımından dikkat çekmektedir. Erkek mezar taşlarında 21 farklı baştaşı tespit edilmiştir. Kadın mezar taşlarında ise 1 başlık formu belirlenmiştir. Mezar taşlarında ölünün kimliğini belirten, taşların yüzeyine yapılmış kitabe metinleri bulunmaktadır. Kitabe metinleri değerlendirilirken yakarış, dua, kimlik, dua isteme ve tarih olmak üzere beş farklı konu belirlenmiştir. Bu başlıklar arasında ünvanlar, lakaplar, mezarda yatan şahsın nereli olduğu ve akrabalık bağlarına da değinilmiştir. Ayrıca, metinler içerisinde geçen ifadelerden şahsın genç yaşta mı yoksa hastalıktan mı öldüğü gibi ölenin durumunu belirten ifadelere de rastlanmıştır.Mezar taşlarındaki bezeme programları ayrıntılı ele alınarak gruplandırma yapılmıştır. Bitkisel motifler, nesneli motifler, geometrik motifler ve mimari motifler olarak sınıflandırılmıştır. Motifler tanıtılırken önce motifin ikonografik gelişimi belirtilmeye çalışılmıştır. Üsküdar'da incelemeye aldığımız 9 cami haziresindeki mezar taşları; malzeme, işleniş, form ve bezemeleri ile başkent İstanbul üslubunun temsilcileri niteliğindedir. Yapıldıkları dönemin ortak özelliklerini taşıyan bu eserler, Türk sanatının mezar taşına yansıyan yönlerini aktaran birer örnek olmaları bakımından da önemlidirler. Anahtar Kelimeler: Üsküdar, cami, mezar taşları, süsleme, lahit 697

    Authors: Korkut, Tahsin;

    According to historical sources, Tao-Klarjeti, known as Artvin, Erzurum and Ardahan formed the land of Tao Klajet principality founded by Tao I for a long time, from mid. 9th century until it passed under Ottoman rule in 16th century. Tao-Klarjeti region, as a center of development in medieval Georgian art, is in the position of the cradle of the medieval Georgian state. St. Nino, passing through here, started to spread Christianity in Georgia in 330s. The first Georgian Christian centers in the region; Kirazalan (Tuharisi), Ardanuç (Artanuci), Ferhatlı (Ahıza/Akhiza), Bağcılar (Opiza), Pırnallı (Porta/Handzta), Oğuzyolu (Eruşeti), Karostav (Tskarostavi) and Anaçlı (Ançi) were even founded in 4th and 6th centuries in the period of Georgian Kkings Vakhtang Gorgasali and Mirian. Plastic decorative program seen in façade of the large diocese cathedral and monasteries in Tao-Klardjeti such as Hamamlı (Dolishana), Altıparmak (Barhal), Penek (Bana), Çamlıyamaç (Öşki), Bağbaşı (Hahuli), Tekkale (Dörtkilise), İşhan and Cevizli (Tbeti), dated to 9th -10th centuries, constitutes our research topics. Many more monastery and church structures can be seen in Tao-Klarjeti. However, it seems that many of the monasteries and churches, excluded in our study, are poor in terms of plastic decoration. This is the case due to the difficult conditions and the economic inability of the churches and monasteries built in the region in this period, essentially built with stones provided in the region and also not having smooth surface, which is unfavorable to plastic decorations. For example; monasteries and churches such as Opiza, Daba, Handza, Gunatlis, Midznazori, Tskarostavi, Baretelta, Berta and Şatberdi are rather poor in this respect. Monumental examples of architecture in the region have been examined and evaluated in many ways so far; however; it seems that enough coverage hasn't been given to plastic decoration in the studies made or the plastic decoration issue hasn't been held as a whole and in detail. Therefore, the plastic embellishments of the structures, the subject of our research, form our thesis topic. Consequently; a comparison and evaluation has been made between the samples of plastic decoration of the structures which form our catalog chapter and plastic decoration samples seen in the architecture of our neighboring art circles - Armenian, Byzantine and Seljuk. Architecture of Bagrat in the region; also taking into account the material, technique and decoration iconographic themes; it has been tried to draw attention to the interaction between different cultures in terms of historical, cultural and architectural plastic decoration. Tarihi kaynaklara göre, Tao-Klarceti olarak bilinen Artvin, Erzurum ve Ardahan illeri 9. yy.ın ortalarından, 16. yy.daki Osmanlı hâkimiyetine geçinceye kadar uzun bir süre, I. Aşot tarafından kurulmuş Tao-Klajeti Beyliği'nin topraklarını oluşturmuştur.Ortaçağ Gürcü sanatının gelişiminde kültürel bir merkez olarak tarihi Tao-Klarceti bölgesi, Ortaçağ Gürcü devletinin beşiği konumundadır. Azize Nino buralardan geçerek 330'lu yıllarda Gürcistan'da Hıristiyanlığı yaymaya başlamıştır. Bölgedeki ilk Gürcü Hıristiyanlık merkezleri olan; Kirazalan (Tuharisi), Ardanuç (Artanuci), Ferhatlı (Ahıza/Akhiza), Bağcılar (Opiza), Pırnallı (Porta/Handzta), Oğuzyolu (Eruşeti), Karostav (Tskarostavi) ve Anaçlı (Ançi) daha 4 ve 6. yy.da Gürcü kralları Mirian ve Vahtang Gorgasali döneminde kurulmuştur. 9-10. yy.'a tarihlenen ve Tao-Klarceti'deki Hamamlı (Dolishana), Altıparmak (Barhal), Penek (Bana), Çamlıyamaç (Öşki), Bağbaşı (Hahuli), Tekkale (Dörtkilise), İşhan ve Cevizli (Tbeti) gibi büyük piskoposluk katedral ve manastırların cephelerinde görülen plastik bezeme programları araştırma konumuzu teşkil etmektedir.Tao-Klarceti bölgesinde daha birçok manastır ve kilise yapısı mevcuttur. Ancak araştırma konumuz dışında kalan manastır ve kiliselerin birçoğunun plastik bezeme konusunda fakir olduğu görülmektedir. Bu dönemde bölgede yapılan manastır ve kiliselerin zor şartlar ve ekonomik yetersizliklerden dolayı, esasen yöreden sağlanmış taş malzemelerle inşa edilmesi ve bunların düzgün olmayan yüzeylerinin de plastik bezemeye elverişsizliği ile açıklanabilir. Örneğin; Opiza, Daba, Handza, Gunatlis, Midznazori, Tskarostavi, Baretelta, Berta ve Şatberdi manastırları gibi birçok manastır ve kilise bu açıdan oldukça zayıftır. Bölgedeki anıtsal mimarlık örnekleri bugüne kadar pek çok açıdan incelenmiş ve değerlendirilmiş ancak; yapılan çalışmalarda plastik bezemeye yeterince yer verilmediği veya plastik bezeme konusunun tüme yönelik bir bakış açısıyla ve detaylı olarak ele alınmadığı görülmektedir. Bu nedenle araştırmamıza konu olan yapıların plastik bezemeleri tez konumuzu oluşturmaktadır. Buna bağlı olarak; tezimizin katalog bölümünü oluşturan yapıların plastik bezeme örnekleri ile komşu sanat çevrelerinden, Ermeni, Bizans ve Anadolu Selçuklu mimarisinde görülen plastik bezeme örnekleri arasında karşılaştırma yapılmış ve değerlendirilmiştir. Bölgedeki Bagratlı mimarisinin; malzeme, teknik ve süslemelerdeki ikonografik temaları da dikkate alarak; tarihi, kültürel ve mimari plastik bezeme açısından, farklı kültürler arası etkileşimine dikkat çekilmeye çalışılmıştır. 727

    Authors: Fiduccia, Joanna;

    İlkel insanların çeşitli gereksinimleri ile ortaya çıkan ve bu nedenle en eski sanat dallarından birisi olan seramik sanatı, zaman içinde farklı uygarlıkların yarattığı, değişen yaşam biçimlerine göre özgünleşmiş formlar birer sanat eseri olarak günümüze kadar ulaşmıştır. Başlangıçta sadece gereksinime uygun işlevsel kaplar ve kült eşyası olarak şekillendirilen seramik ürünler, zamanla estetik kaygı ile üretilen seçkin sanat eserlerine dönüşmüştür. Seramik biçimler üzerine uygulanan renkler, toplımsal ve kültürel değerleri ve olayları yansıtmalarının yanı sıra, ürüne estetik görünüm kazandırırlar.Günümüzde sanatın genişlemesiyle dünyada güç kazanan ve kabul gören seramik sanatı, malzemenin sağladığı olanaklar ve kişisel deneyimlerin birleşmesiyle, yeni üsluplara dönüşen sonuçlar ortaya çıkmıştır. Seramik çamurlarının renk veren oksitler, seramik boyaları veya doğal killer ile karıştırılarak yapay olarak renklendirilmesine renkli çamur adı verilir. Bir dekor uygulaması olarak renklendirilmiş seramik çamuru farklı dekor alternatifleri ile beraber sanatçıya her zaman yeni ürünleri oluşturma şansı sunmaktadır. Bu araştırmada, renkli çamurun tanımı ve tarihsel gelişiminin yanı sıra, renkli çamurun hazırlanması, seramik sanatçısına sağlayacağı çeşitli anlatım olanakları ve teknikleri incelenmiştir. Renklendirilmiş seramik çamuruyla yapılan dekor uygulamalarının gerek Türk, gerekse yabancı sanatçı çalışmalarında sanatsal kullanımı ele alınarak değerlendirilmiştir.ANAHTAR KELİMELER : Renklendirilmiş seramik çamuru, Renklendirilmiş çamurlarla yapılan dekor uygulamaları Ceramic art is one of the old types of art which has been grown out of the necessity of first human (troglodytes).     Authors: Şanes Doğru, Mesude Hülya;

    Authors: Yariş, Sahure;

    Authors: Korkut, Tahsin;
