    Authors: Cunha, João Alves da;

    Esta obra procura dar a conhecer a história do Movimento de Renovação da Arte Religiosa (MRAR), fazendo um retrato detalhado da sua ação nas décadas de 1950 e 1960. Desejando tornar mais próximo e compreensível o percurso histórico deste movimento, considerou-se que a abordagem no estilo narrativo seria a mais adequada. Os acontecimentos estão deste modo apresentados e articulados segundo uma ordem cronológica, recorrendo-se frequentemente à citação de comentários, pensamentos e ideias expressas então, como forma de garantir a riqueza do discurso original e de lhe garantir uma genuidade que poderia ser falseada no recurso a palavras nossas.

    Authors: Guerrero Rubio, Andrea;

    El presente trabajo de investigación ha centrado su interés temático en el abordaje específico del tema del arte religioso y su relación con las experiencias de fe y de evangelización. De acuerdo a esto se ha considerado oportuno tratar de encontrar la relación estrecha que existe entre arte y teología. Esto porque en el camino de fe y de los procesos de evangelización de la iglesia, se ha podido encontrar la gran riqueza que posee el arte para nutrir la experiencia de encuentro con Dios y los hermanos. Se reconoce del mismo modo, que el arte se ha ido desvinculando a través del tiempo de la teología, es por ello, que se considera la pertinencia y la necesidad de indagar este aspecto como objeto problemático y de investigación. This research work has focused its thematic interest on the specific approach to the theme of religious art and its relationship with the experiences of faith and evangelization. Accordingly, it has been considered opportune to try to find the close relationship that exists between art and theology. This is because in the path of faith and the evangelization processes of the church, it has been possible to find the great wealth that art possesses to nourish the experience of encounter with God and the brothers. It is recognized in the same way that art has been disassociated through time from theology, which is why the relevance and need to investigate this aspect as a problematic and research object is considered.     Authors: Webster, Peter;

    Examines evangelical encounters with the arts as: consumer and performer in the ‘neutral’ sphere of the home; as users of the arts in public worship; as evangelists; and as moralists and reformers of the pursuits of others. It deals mainly with music, literature, the visual arts and drama, and its examples are drawn chiefly from Britain and the USA, and from the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. However, it makes a claim to be applicable to the evangelical movement as a whole. In certain cases there were evangelical principles that went to the very basis of the art form concerned which as a result were both widespread and persistent. At the same time, there were other evangelical concerns which were not so much issues with the medium itself, but a particular social context in which it was produced. As a result such prohibitions could be, and were relaxed at other times and in other places. Evangelicals at times enthusiastically embraced certain art forms and individual works; at others they rejected them on principle; in other circumstances the story was one of resistance, adaptation, and the replacement of secular versions with safe and edifying substitutes. How far was evangelical engagement conditioned by the cultural power that they were able to exercise, and the extent to which their cultural presuppositions were shared? In the mid-nineteenth century, British evangelicals shared many of the same presumptions as their neighbours about the moral purpose of the arts, and about the conditions that should surround their production and reception. In contrast, evangelicals in the late twentieth century found themselves marooned by the processes of secularisation in societies in which any consensus about the purpose of art had fractured. In this context of perceived cultural and moral crisis, evangelicals were in confrontation with secular artistic production for its godlessness, whilst domesticating its forms for their own purposes to a greater extent than ever.

    Authors: Rocha, Leonel Fernando Gonçalves da;

    The historiography of the Romanesque reveals itself late in individualizing the artistic movement. However, since the 19th century, the bibliographical production has been more and more intense. We look at the recent past and find studies that value not only architecture but also sculpture, goldsmithery, and illuminated manuscripts. The 20th century intervened in monuments in such a profound way that it gave them back a stylistic unity that some never had. Situated in the Dark Ages, this movement will build in a way that many will equate to baroque investment. Its pre-romanesque art roots still have difficult outlines to determine. Aesthetics has intellectual contours that are linked to the Christian influence. The beauty is a characteristic of the transcendent that Cluny will expand in a design that will give it an international character, despite being regionalized. The sculpture, now conquered, will emerge from architecture. It is a plastic that we will find in Vale do Sousa, properly assimilated and regionally digested, which is still witnessed today in monasteries, churches, hermitages, memorials, towers and bridges. A historiografia do românico revela-se tardia a individualizar o movimento artístico. No entanto, a partir do século XIX a produção bibliográfica foi cada vez mais intensa. Olhamos para o passado recente e encontramos estudos que valorizam não só a arquitetura mas também a escultura, a ourivesaria, e a iluminura. O século XX interveio nos monumentos de uma forma tão profunda que lhes devolveu uma unidade estilística que, alguns, nunca tiveram. Situado na Idade das Trevas, este movimento vai construir numa vaga que muitos vão equiparar ao investimento barroco. As suas raízes prerromânicas ainda hoje têm contornos difíceis de precisar. A estética tem contornos intelectuais que se prendem com a influência cristã. O belo é caraterístico do transcendente que Cluny vai expandir num design que lhe dará um caráter internacional, apesar de se ir regionalizando. A escultura, agora conquistada, emergirá da arquitetura. É uma plástica que iremos encontrar no Vale do Sousa, devidamente assimilada e digerida regionalmente que se testemunha, ainda hoje, em mosteiros, igrejas, ermidas, memoriais, torres e pontes.

    Authors: Jarno-Cichosz, Katarzyna;

    The church in Kwiatkowice, founded by Kacper Puczek and his wife Anna of Sarnów, was built in the early 17th century. It is an example of a temple founded by members of the nobility, with the intention to became the mausoleum of the Puczek family. The church has undergone only slight alterations over the three centuries of its existence, and has a well-preserved equipment from the17th and 18th centuries. In the church there are three altars: the main altar dedicated to St. Nicholas and two side altars devoted to the Holy Trinity (south) and the Heart of Jesus (north). The main altar was built in the 1830s, probably at the initiative of Konstancja Kossakowska. The altar dedicated to the Holy Trinity was built in the early 17th century. Two wooden polychrome statues of Madonna Immaculata and St. John of Nepomuk are from the beginning of the 17th century. The church building is testimony to the position and wealth of Kacper and Anna Puczek, who decided to build a brick temple, equipped according to trends prevailing in this area in the early 17th century. Kościół parafialny w Kwiatkowicach to przykład świątyni pochodzącej z fundacji szlacheckiej i pełniącej funkcję mauzoleum rodowego fundatorów wzniesionej na początku XVII w. przez Kacpra Puczka i jego żonę Annę z Sarnowa. Walory kościoła stanowią dobrze zachowane nowożytne wyposażenie oraz niewielkie zmiany, jakim na przestrzeni lat podlegały jego formy. W kościele znajdują się trzy ołtarze: główny św. Mikołaja oraz dwa ołtarze boczne – Trójcy Świętej (południowy) i Serca Jezusa (północny) – usytuowane w części korpusu przylegającej do prezbiterium. Ołtarz główny powstał w pierwszej połowie lat 30. XVIII w., najprawdopodobniej z inicjatywy zmarłej w 1732 r. Konstancji Kossakowskiej. Ołtarz p.w. Świętej Trójcy powstał w latach 20.–30. XVII w., stanowi pierwotny element wyposażenia świątyni podobnie jak ołtarz Św. Trójcy. Z początku XVII w. pochodzą także dwie drewniane, polichromowane rzeźby: Madonna Immaculata oraz św. Jan Nepomucen. Omawiany obiekt świadczy o pozycji i zamożności fundatorów, którzy zdecydowali się na budowę świątyni murowanej, wyposażonej zgodnie z panującymi na tym obszarze w początku XVII w. trendami. • The pictorial program of the southern wall of the church of Saint-André in the Benedictine women’s abbey of Lavaudieu (Auvergne, France) dates from the 14th century but causes some controversy in the dating of the monument. The program includes the so-called “Black Death”. Presumably created before the plague, this original composition is nevertheless often associated with the disease. Relying on pictorial and textual sources, the author analysed the program as a whole, putting the problems of pictorial associations and reworkings of iconography that are opposite in meaning at the center of the study. Combining opposites, the artist, who served both religion and politics, seemed to be their active figure. Using the method of reversing older ideas and iconographies, the artist pursued the goal of “pricking” the soul of the viewer. Thus, following the behest of Gregory the Great, the master terrorized souls and bodies. Such artistic methods are aimed at creating a complex image-oxymoron, which fits into the logic of “negative veneration” of the figure of death. In this regard, possible eastern sources of inspiration for this Western European painting, in particular, the iconography of the Byzantine type of Our Lady, are analyzed. Of particular interest to the program are female images, both visible and imaginary, which allow us to make some contribution to the study of imago culture, as well as to the study of the transfer of ideas between East and West. Живописная программа южной стены церкви Сент-Андре в женском бенедиктинском аббатстве Лаводьё (Овернь, Франция) датируется XIV веком, но вызывает некоторые разногласия в датировке памятника. В программу входит так называемая «Чёрная смерть». Предположительно созданная до эпидемии чумы, эта оригинальная композиция, тем не менее, часто ассоциируется с болезнью. Опираясь на изобразительные и текстовые источники, в статье делается попытка рассмотреть программу целиком, поставив в центр исследования проблемы изобразительных ассоциаций и механизмы переработки противоположной по смыслу иконографии. Соединяя противоположности, художник, находящийся на службе религии и политики, представляется их активным деятелем. Используя метод изменения до противоположного более древних идей и образов, художник преследует цель — «уколоть душу» зрителя. Так, следуя завету Григория Великого, мастер терроризирует души и тела. Такие художественные методы имеют целью создание сложного образа-оксиморона, который вписывается в логику «негативного почитания» фигуры смерти. В этой связи анализируются возможные восточные источники вдохновения данной западноевропейской живописи, в частности, иконографии Богоматери византийского типа. Особый интерес программы представляют женские образы, как видимые, так и воображаемые, их обзор позволяет внести некоторый вклад в изучение культуры imago, а также в изучение трансфера идей между Востоком и Западом.

    El palau que Stefano Conti feu construir a la Torre Major del complex dels Santi Quattro Coronati durant el seu període com a vicarius Urbis i les decoracions que s’hi conserven són un clar exemple de programa ideològic, polític i propagandístic del Duecento romà. L’existència d’un portavoce, la funció del qual era connectar les dues sales de la torre, ens ha permès plantejar una sèrie de relacions visuals i textuals entre la Capella de Sant Silvestre i l’Aula Gòtica que ajuden a comprendre el discurs plantejat pel cardenal. Esta obra procura dar a conhecer a história do Movimento de Renovação da Arte Religiosa (MRAR), fazendo um retrato detalhado da sua ação nas décadas de 1950 e 1960. Desejando tornar mais próximo e compreensível o percurso histórico deste movimento, considerou-se que a abordagem no estilo narrativo seria a mais adequada. Os acontecimentos estão deste modo apresentados e articulados segundo uma ordem cronológica, recorrendo-se frequentemente à citação de comentários, pensamentos e ideias expressas então, como forma de garantir a riqueza do discurso original e de lhe garantir uma genuidade que poderia ser falseada no recurso a palavras nossas.

    Authors: Guerrero Rubio, Andrea;

    El presente trabajo de investigación ha centrado su interés temático en el abordaje específico del tema del arte religioso y su relación con las experiencias de fe y de evangelización. De acuerdo a esto se ha considerado oportuno tratar de encontrar la relación estrecha que existe entre arte y teología. Esto porque en el camino de fe y de los procesos de evangelización de la iglesia, se ha podido encontrar la gran riqueza que posee el arte para nutrir la experiencia de encuentro con Dios y los hermanos. Se reconoce del mismo modo, que el arte se ha ido desvinculando a través del tiempo de la teología, es por ello, que se considera la pertinencia y la necesidad de indagar este aspecto como objeto problemático y de investigación. This research work has focused its thematic interest on the specific approach to the theme of religious art and its relationship with the experiences of faith and evangelization. Accordingly, it has been considered opportune to try to find the close relationship that exists between art and theology. This is because in the path of faith and the evangelization processes of the church, it has been possible to find the great wealth that art possesses to nourish the experience of encounter with God and the brothers. It is recognized in the same way that art has been disassociated through time from theology, which is why the relevance and need to investigate this aspect as a problematic and research object is considered.     Authors: Webster, Peter;
