Although the pottery has been made nearly in all houses in previous years, this number has been decreasing day by day. While the pottery production is caried out by small number of women in Kavakbaşı, in Günkırı there is just one, pottery master. But even he is the only master in there he makes it only by special order. The pots are shaped by a pritimity tool called ‘’çark’’ rolling with hands or foots. These pots are cooked in a low heat oven made in a hole on the ground after the pots are dried 4-5 days under the shadow and 1-2 days under the sun. Heating them apply an undercoat exhibit potters is heated in first at fresh air then they are heated for second time with an undercoat in a close hole. Finally they are ready for selling. In the past people used to make their pots according to their needs, today after being widespread of technology and plastic staff, most of the pots and pans lost their functions. In this work, it is aimed to study about the present status of primity pottery which has been made for a long time in Kavakbaşı and Günkırı. In accordance with this purpose, interview and observational research has been accomplished in Kavakbaşı and Günkırı municipalities. Supported with photographs amd informations from the sources, the work has been accomplished.

Pottery fragments are the most numerous finds on Neolithic sites throughout the Central Balkans. Chronological systems in Neolithic archaeology are based upon ceramic forms and ornamental techniques. Unfortunately, many other aspects of pottery have been neglected. Pottery ethnoarchaeology, along with experimental and interdisciplinary research, must be used as the main source of information about certain aspects of production and use of ceramic vessels, as well as in the reconstruction of social organisation, labor division and labor investment in ceramic production, vessel use-life, breakage and discard patterns, among others. A methodology of use-wear trace identification – abrasion, carbon deposition and surface attrition – on Early Neolithic pottery from the site of Blagotin was established according to the results of ethnoarchaeological research among traditional communities. Ethnoarchaeological evidence was also the main source of information in researching technological aspects of pottery production such as forming techniques and firing procedures, as well as the emergence of standardisation and craft specialisation in the production of Late Neolithic pottery from Vinča.

Much of what is known about Malta’s ancient material culture has come to light as a result of antiquarian research or early archaeological work – a time where little attention was paid to stratigraphic context. This situation has in part contributed to the problem of reliably sourcing and dating Maltese Roman-period pottery, particularly locally produced forms common on nearly all ancient Maltese sites. Pottery from Roman Malta presents a comprehensive study of Maltese pottery forms from key stratified deposits spanning the first century BC to mid-fourth century AD. Ceramic material from three Maltese sites was analysed and quantified in a bid to understand Maltese pottery production during the Roman period, and trace the type and volume of ceramic-borne goods that were circulating the central Mediterranean during the period. A short review of the islands’ recent literature on Roman pottery is discussed, followed by a detailed contextual summary of the archaeological contexts presented in this study. The work is supplemented by a detailed illustrated catalogue of all the forms identified within the assemblages, presenting the wide range of locally produced and imported pottery types typical of the Maltese Roman period. peer-reviewed

For further information contact us at helpdesk@openaire.eudescription Publicationkeyboard_double_arrow_right Article 2020National Research Mordovia State University MRSU Authors: Andrey S. Barmenkov;Andrey S. Barmenkov;Introduction. The article considers to the features of pottery and brings the results of the research of pottery technology which was common on the territory of Mordovia. An in-depth, systematically organized culturological approach to the study of artistic ceramics and ancient ornaments on pottery allows the author to study a wide range of issues of ancient history, which until now have been resolved mainly on an intuitive level and not within the framework of cultural studies, if they were the subject of the attention of researchers at all. Materials and methods. The article discusses a specific aspect of the study of pottery ceramics, technological. The analysis is based on the historical, cultural and morphological principles of the study. It employed the documents stored in the Scientific Archive of the Research Institute for the Humanities under the Government of the Republic of Mordovia, as well as the ethnographic material of the S. D. Erzia Mordovian Republican Museum of Fine Arts, Mordovian Republican United Museum of Local Lore, Museum of Folk Culture of Mordovia. Results and discussion. An attempt to build a typology of pottery ceramics on the territory of Mordovia traces both the preservation of all-Russian functional, formal-morphological features, names of objects, and the emergence of new regional, local features, which was the result of adaptation and mutual influence of various ethnographic groups of the population. The design of this typology suggests the possibility of introducing additional levels when revealing new samples of clay utensils. Conclusion. In the economy of the ancient Mordovians up to the middle of I thousand AD a large role was played by various crafts. The appearance and development of pottery is inextricably linked with the productive activities of the Mordovians. For many centuries, dishes were made by stucco, and later by an exhaust method. Pottery ceramics played an important role in developing the basis of peasant farming and occupied a special niche in the ethno-economic structure of the peasants.
