  • Black and white lantern slide showing a view of the church at Duke Town, Calabar, with Nigerian worshippers in the foreground in traditional and Western dress. Duke Town Presbyterian Church was built in 1846 under the auspices of Reverend Hope Masterton Waddell. This slide comes from a set on mission, culture and industry in Calabar, southeast Nigeria generated by the Church of Scotland and the United Free Church of Scotland (which was incorporated with the Church of Scotland in 1929.)

The wood and brick structure has three roof peaks along the side of the main structure. Under each peak are rows of arched windows. A circular stained-glass window is directly under the eave of the shortest peak. A round tower with pointed turret on top is attached to the right side of the main structure. A horse and carriage is parked in front at right. A pedestrian is visible behind it.
