This thesis is addressing the issue of childhood in the Middle Ages. The first part pursues the goal of a theoretical introduction into the field of childhood in the past. The emphasis is on the definition of the subject at matter, research history and the questions and problems at hand, eventually the methodology of research concerning the field of study. Further on it looks into the history of childhood and child burials in medieval Europe in particular. The emphasis lays on th e specifics of child burials from early to late Middle Ages.The concluding chapter contains the results of the authors own research, based on the study of graveyards and burials. The thesis contains the analysis of sixteen burial sites from the periods of early to late Middle Ages. The goal of the thesis was to trace the changes in the burials of non-adult individuals in the focused period. Diplomová práce se zabývá problematikou dětství ve středověku. První část práce je věnována obecnému teoretickému úvodu do problematiky dětství v minulosti. Důraz je zde kladen především na vymezení předmětu studia, dějiny bádání a na řešené otázky a problémy popř. metody výzkumu spojené s touto problematikou. Dále se práce zabývá dějinami dětství a zejména pohřbíváním dětí ve středověké Evropě. Důraz je kladen na specifika dětských pohřbů v průběhu raného až pozdního středověku. Cílem práce je prostřednictvím analýzy a syntézy raně až pozdně středověkých pohřebišť vystihnout specifika pohřbívání dětí v průběhu středověku a na základě těchto specifik interpretovat možné postavení dítěte ve středověku a jeho vztah k dospělé populaci. This thesis summarizes the prehistoric development of Bohemia and also specifically focuses on the Ústí nad Labem. Work is successive from the Paleolithic to the Roman period. Each chapter closes with specific findings in Trmice and Stadice. The notes are designed didactic applications usable in primary schools and lower grades of schools. Práce shrnuje pravěký vývoj na území Čech a zároveň se konkrétně zaměřuje na Ústí nad Labem. Práce je posloupná od paleolitu až do doby římské. Každou kapitolu uzavírají konkrétní nálezy v Trmicích a Stadicích. V příloze jsou navrženy didaktické aplikace využitelné na základních školách a nižších stupních gymnázií. Katedra historie Obhájeno

The aim of this study has been to broaden our knowledge of the early medieval settlement in the early Pilsen region on the basis of finds from early medieval burial sites and foremostly the revision of these finds. Seventy-two sites with evidence for burials were documented (50 cemeteries and 25 sites with finds of s-shaped earrings, beads and ceramic vessels). The sites can be divided according to their location in the landscape (A–C). The oldest evidence for burials in the region can be dated to the 8th–9th century, but the majority of burial sites falls into the 10th–11th century. The analysis of the burial offerings was focuses mainly on the most numerous group of artefacts represented by the s-shaped earrings (groups M1–VŠ; analysis RFA).

Diplomová práce se obecně zabývá vývojem pohřbívání, hřbitovů a náhrobků, ale také způsobem zacházení s mrtvými a vnímáním smrti a pohřebních rituálů v minulosti. Následuje zaměření na vybranou lokalitu U Všech svatých na Roudné, její stručný historický přehled a sběr dat při terénním vizuální průzkumu, zaměření náhrobků pomocí GPS.Byly provedeny analýzy směřující k vyhledání určitých pravidelností a prostorových struktur uvnitř areálu. Závěrem jsou vyhodnoceny získané poznatky za pomoci databázových systémů a grafických zobrazení a plánů v prostředí GIS. This work in general deals with the development of burial, cemeteries and tombstones , but also how to deal with the deads and the perception of death and funeral rituals in the past.Followed by focusing on selected cemetery All Saints in Plzeň - Roudná, made their historical summary and collection of data in a visual field exploration. Locality (tombstones) was located by the GPS. And searches spatial structure within the complex. The subject of this thesis is buried in settlement context during the Bronze Age. This work creates a general overview of the incidence of human skeletal remains in the settlements objects from Bohemia and Moravia. Part of this work was to create a catalog of sites where were found the objects with human skeletal remains. Based on the database were examined some aspects of the findings: the type of settlement object used for storing human remains, the position of human skeletons, completeness of the skeleton, gender, age, position and orientation of the skeleton, number of individuals in the object, charity or the presence of traces of violent interventions. Different variability was detected in the form of saving human skeletons. The most frequently were used settlement pits in all periods of the Bronze Age Tématem diplomové práce je pohřbívání na sídlištích v době bronzové. Tato práce vytváří rámcový přehled o výskytu lidských kosterních pozůstatků v sídlištních objektech z území Čech a Moravy. Součástí práce bylo vytvoření katalogu lokalit, na kterých byly zjištěny objekty s lidskými kosterními pozůstatky. Pomocí databáze byly sledovány některé aspekty nálezů: kompletnost a poloha lidských skeletů, pohlaví, věk, počet jedinců v objektu, přítomnost milodarů nebo stopy násilných zásahů. The article presents the results of a geohysical survey undetaken with the use of cesium magnetometer on the site with burial mounds Javor-Hádky (region of Rokycany). The survey focused on the western part of the burial ground, where there was identified an empty space among the mounds. The survey was supposed to resolve the issue of why this space is present. The survey revealed several magnetic anomalies, which can represent sunken features. They are mainly linear features, which were interpreted as the remains of roads or water channels. Other anomalies proved the existence of the now disappeared mound bank. The interpretation of other anomalies is uncertain. The results demonstrate the advantages of the use of a non-destructive archaeological survey using geophysical prospection for gaining further information about the spatial structure of burial mound cemeteries.

Tato bakalářská práce je zaměřena na pohřby válečníků v pre-státních společnostech v Africe, Severní i Jižní Americe a v Oceánii. Cílem této práce bylo zjistit, pomocí komparativní metody, jaká je variabilita pohřebních rituálů u pre-státních společností a na základě variability artefaktů, vkládaných do hrobu válečníků, najít vztah mezi symbolickou a praktickou rovinou pohřbů. Vzorek 15 společností byl vybrán výlučně na základě etnografických zdrojů z elektronické databáze HRAF. Úvod práce je věnován krátkému pohledu do historie válečnictví a následně zmapování počátků a vývoje prvních zbraní a historickému vývoji válečnictví. Zároveň je představen i stručný úvod do studia pohřebních praktik. Závěr bakalářské práce je věnován výsledkům srovnávacího výzkumu, které ukazují, že ačkoliv jsou pohřební rituály napříč zkoumanými společnostmi velmi odlišné, dají se najít společné znaky. Jedním tímto znakem je snaha ostatních bojovníků přinést svého padlého druha zpět domů a umožnit tak jeho řádný pohřeb, druhým společným znakem je vkládání skutečných zbraní, které sloužily svému majiteli, do jeho hrobu. This bachelor thesis presents a cross-culture research of burials of warriors in pre-state societies in Africa, North and South America and Oceania. The aim of this bachelor thesis was to find out the differencies between funerals in pre-state societies and the variability of artefacts put into the grave and thereby find out the relation between symbolical and practical aspect of burials. The sample of 15 societies comes only from the ethnological sources in the Human Realtions Area Files. The introduction of this bachelor thesis deals with history of study of warfare and with origins of weapons and history of war, as well as introduction of study of burial practices. The conclusion of this bachelor thesis shows that despite the differencies between the investigated societies we can find some common points: one of them is the weapon put into the grave which used to be the real weapon used by the warrior. The second point is that the worriors usually try to carry the body (or at least a part of it) back home to be possible to perform a proper funeral. Katedra antropologie Obhájeno

L’objectif de notre communication est de présenter une collaboration fructueuse entre l’archéologie et l’anthropologie en République tchèque, pour résoudre certaines questions théoriques et méthodologiques relevant de la culture des populations du passé (intentionnalité, origine et fonctionnalité d’un complexe funéraire). Elle mettra également en valeur l’importance des sources archéologiques dans la reconstitution du contexte. Notre intérêt porte sur la sépulture multiple de Velké Prilepy (République Tchèque), datant à l’Âge du bronze ancien. La surface fouillée d’environ 1,5m x 1,5m a permis de dégager les restes osseux de 6 sujets dont 2 adultes et 4 immatures sans des matériels funéraires. Selon la stratigraphie, nous avons défini deux ensembles distincts : le premier et plus ancien concerne 5 individus sans contexte archéologique évident et le second dans un horizon 15cm plus haut contient un sujet immature accompagné de perles. Durant la phase de terrain, nous avons enregistré des renseignements permettant d’établir un état général de conservation à partir de la fragmentation et de l’érosion des ossements. Un protocole détaillé au niveau de la taphonomie (état des articulations et positions anatomiques des os) nous permet de conclure que les corps ont été inhumés en espace colmaté. Les relations et agencements des os témoignent de l’intentionnalité du dépôt par rangement des corps avec les membres relativement fléchis. Une sépulture multiple de ce type est rare pour la période et le contexte géographique considérés. Malgré un apport considérable des données de terrain, une interprétation détaillée reste toutefois impossible et demeure hypothétique. Based on the interdisciplinary co-operation between biological anthropology and archaeology, this contribution deals with the Early Bronze Age multiple burial from Velké Prilepy (distr. Prague–west, Czech Republic). The participation of an anthropologist, an uncommon event in the Czech Republic, during this salvage excavation allowed precise terrain taphonomical analysis. Aside from the formal transformations (e. g. damage, decomposition and disintegration of bone tissue), the taphonomical study is focused on original body positions and burial rite reconstructed here. The results of the taphonomical analysis are used in the archaeological interpretation of burial purpose in the past living culture. Katedra archeologie

Eneolithic long barrows represent a monumental change in the prehistorical concept of death and burial rite. This shift in some burial practices happened mainly in the region of the Funnelbeaker Culture. The bachelor thesis revises older archaeological research, summarizes its current state and presents a list of known and recently found long barrows in Bohemia. This work also offers foreign analogies that showcase the differences between pre-megalithic and megalithic monuments. The conclusion of this work points out the importance of interdisciplinary cooperation and raises questions for future research. Eneolitické dlouhé mohyly představují monumentální změnu v pravěkém pojetí smrti a pohřebního ritu, která se udála převážně na území kultury nálevkovitých pohárů. Bakalářská práce reviduje starší archeologické výzkumy, shrnuje dosavadní stav výzkumu a prezentuje soupis již známých i nově nalezených dlouhých mohyl v Čechách. Dále nabízí zahraniční analogie, které poukazují na rozdíly mezi předmegalitickými a megalitickými stavbami. Závěr práce poukazuje na význam interdisciplinární spolupráce a pokládá otázky pro budoucí výzkumy. Obhájeno
