    Authors: Thor Tureby, Malin;

    In a Swedish context, Jewish women’s experiences and actions have gone unrecorded and unrecognised; most narratives of Swedish Jewish history offer only a partial account of their past. Marginalised or ignored, or absorbed into universalised categories of ‘Jews’, ‘women’ or ‘survivors’, the experiences and histories of Jewish women are in general not represented in previous Swedish research on the history of the Jewish minority, the Swedish Jewish response to the Nazi terror and the Holocaust or the history of the women’s movement in general. Previous research on the Swedish Jewish response and assistance for the Jewish refugees and survivors of Nazi persecution has mainly dealt with the Jewish community in Stockholm and its relief committee, where the women were absent from leadership positions. The purpose of this study is to explore if and how the Jewish women’s club in Stockholm initiated or was involved in relief activities for and with the persecuted Jews of Europe. Specifically, this is investigated in the context of how the club was established and manifested in public by examining what questions the club raised and what activities it organised in the 1930s and 1940s.

    Authors: Andersson, Jennifer;

    Under min verksamhetsförlagda utbildning har jag sett att historieundervisningen präglas av en kronologisk framställning och jag har därför sällan sett lärare i grundskolan använda sig av lokalhistoria och lokalsamhället. Som blivande historielärare i årskurs 4–6 anser jag det betydelsefullt att jag genom denna studie utvecklar kunskap om hur och varför lokalhistoria kan bedrivas i historieundervisning. Syftet med studien är att undersöka vad forskningslitteraturen skriver om grundskolelärares användning och hantering av fenomenet lokalhistoria i historieundervisningen. En systematisk litteraturstudie har genomförts för att besvara studiens frågeställning. Studien metod har inneburit att systematiskt söka och sammanställa tidigare forskningslitteratur relevant till studiens ämnesområde. Studiens resultat visar att lokalhistoria främst används av lärare i historieundervisningen på grund av fyra olika syften. Det mest centrala syftet fyller dock en identitetsskapande funktion eftersom att lokalhistoria kan användas som ett medel och mål för att ge eleverna förutsättning att orientera och identifiera sig i det rådande samhället. Studiens resultat visar att lokalhistorisk undervisning oftast karaktäriseras som ett tematiserande arbete. Lokalhistoria är därför sällan regelbundna inslag i historieundervisningen. Studiens resultat visar att lokalhistoria kan ha betydelse för elevernas historiemedvetande eftersom att elevernas historiemedvetande kan aktiveras vid mötesplatser där den "lilla" historien förenas med den "stora" historien. Dock är det inte den lokalhistoriska kunskapen i sig som aktiverar elevernas historiemedvetande utan elevernas egna erfarenheter, insikter och förståelse för lokalhistorien. SO

    Authors: Thörnqvist, Linnea;

    Sweden is one of the heaviest milk consuming countries in the world. The milk- and dairy ‘giant’ Arla, is the largest distributing company of milk- and dairy in Sweden. Since, 1975 Arla began to use the back of their own milk packages as a channel for advertisement, facts, and information. These milk panels have since, been distributed to generations of Swedes. In this thesis I explore the conversations Arla have been mediating through these panels and further how historical and contemporary debates have influenced and altered the conversations conveyed. Inspired by social semiotic theory, I approach the panels to analyse how language and societal debates changes have shaped discourses on the panels, but also how the panel's comments on and reshapes societal debates. The study has been confined study to five years, 1976, 1986, 1996, 2006 and 2016. In order to retrieve and analyse the empirical material I used discourse analysis (or as I prefer to call conversation analysis). The theoretical framework builds on ideas of modernisation using three key theories, Social semiotics, propaganda theory and also theories on nationalism. In the empirical findings of my study, I have distinguished key conversations which I think represent the material as well as societal and contemporary debates. The material shows that Arla on the on hand continue on a tradition of milk marketing in terms of subjects and themes appearing on the panels. On the other hand, Arla is also constantly reinventing themselves in their marketing adjusting to the debates and trends in society.

    Authors: Börjesson, Linus;

    I denna undersökning har jag studerat skrivna framställningar av idrottare till tre olympiska sommarspel. Mitt intresse var att se skillnader och mönster i hur idrottare med olika kön och/eller etnisk bakgrund framställs. Jag har utgått från tre olika olympiska spel. De olympiska spel som undersökts var London 1948, Mexico City 1968 och London 2012. I undersökningen har jag studerat olympiaböckerna för dessa tre spel. En olympiabok presenterar och sammanfattar hela olympiska spel. Den kommer ut tätt efter spelen och innehåller artiklar, sammanfattningar och statistik skrivna av flera olika författare. En mängd tidigare forskning har gjorts både i internationella och svenska undersökningar med studier om hur kvinnliga idrottare framställs, men också en del undersökningar som berör hur idrottarens etnicitet lett till framställningar med stereotyper och fördomar. Dessa tidigare undersökningar har främst använt sig av tidningar som källmaterial, men också av annan media som TV och internet. Ingen tidigare forskning om framställningar har gjorts på just olympiaböcker. Till undersökningen användes de tre teoretiska begreppen sexualisering, infantilisering och etnicitet. Kommentarer av en idrottares utseende (sexualisering) var vanligare att läsa 1948 i jämförelse med 1968 och 2012. Gemensamt för de tre undersökta åren var att beskrivningarna till de manliga idrottarna var inriktade på storlek på axlar, längd och typiska manliga kännetecken. Ett annat mönster som kunde ses var att när kvinnliga idrottares utseende kommenterades 1968 och 2012 var i stort sett alla kommentarer riktade till idrottare inom gymnastiken. I undersökningen går det att utläsa att stereotyper och fördomar i referat för idrottare från andra delar av världen (etnicitet) förekommer 1948 och 1968, men är så gott som helt borta 2012. Av dessa referat och kommentarer var en majoritet riktade mot manliga idrottare och inte kvinnliga. I undersökningen kunde jag också utläsa ett mönster när det gäller nedsättande ord om idrottare i form av beteckningar som används för barn (infantilisering). Dessa ord är i stort sett bara riktade mot de kvinnliga idrottarna i alla de tre undersökta åren, och av dessa är större delen i samband med idrottare inom kategorin simning.

    Authors: Bengtsson, Fanny;

    Västergarn is a medieval settlement situated on the west coast of the island of Gotland in the Baltic Sea. It has for a long time been the focus of study for researchers due to its cultural heritage in regards of its church, rampart and archaeological remains of a settlement dating to the Early Middle Ages. The University of Uppsala conducted excavations at the site during 2005–2013 which have led to large amounts of archaeological material which enabled several theses being written about the place. This thesis aims to study metal dress accessories from Västergarn and the people behind these artifacts who lived there during the early medieval period. Gender identity, ethnicity and cultural belonging will be addressed. The main part of the thesis focuses on typology and chronology. This will be achieved by a morphological study of the material. In addition to this, an ArcGis study is conducted to study distribution patterns in the settlement. The conclusion is that dress accessories allow different conclusions on the population of Västergarn. In terms of gender, it is argued that both men and women were present, albeit artefacts of male gender dominate the assemblages. The majority of the material in terms of ethnicity and cultural identity can be attributed to a Gotlandic tradition, while some dress accessories seem to come from abroad, to the Slavonic areas and other regions in the Baltic Sea. Also, oriental influences can be seen, mainly in regard to the decorated belt mounts. in conclusion, the result of this thesis indicates that two separate groups, both Gotlanders and non-Gotlanders were active in Västergarn during the early Middle Ages which is visible in the two churches, the Baltic ware pottery and the form of dress accessories people wore at the time.

    Market adaptation, fragmentation and precariousness have been widely documented as problematic features of knowledge production processes in the university. This article follows an undercurrent of critical scholarship to explore how paths of resistance can be opened up by researching otherwise. The article builds on autoethnographic notes from a collective and non-funded research project aimed at gathering in situ narratives from people who experienced the 2013 Stockholm Riots. The research strategy behind this project, its organization as well as its results and reception, is here used as a point of departure to scrutinize the conditions of the possibility of critical knowledge production. The article draws attention to a critical place for doing research – in the cracks of the university – which arguably complicates the academic–public divide and keeps open discursive spaces during troubling moments of closure.

    Authors: Thor Tureby, Malin;

    In the late 19th century, Sweden went through many social and political changes which resulted in the establishment of an educational system for the broader masses. The educational system was designed to put Christianity at centre, or more specifically the Lutheran faith, which was the state religion of 19th century Sweden. This paper focuses on the other religions that made its way into the school books during that time, that were not typically a part of the religious education. Was any other religions mentioned at all, and if they were, then how and if possible why?     Authors: Andersson, Jennifer;

    Under min verksamhetsförlagda utbildning har jag sett att historieundervisningen präglas av en kronologisk framställning och jag har därför sällan sett lärare i grundskolan använda sig av lokalhistoria och lokalsamhället. Som blivande historielärare i årskurs 4–6 anser jag det betydelsefullt att jag genom denna studie utvecklar kunskap om hur och varför lokalhistoria kan bedrivas i historieundervisning. Syftet med studien är att undersöka vad forskningslitteraturen skriver om grundskolelärares användning och hantering av fenomenet lokalhistoria i historieundervisningen. En systematisk litteraturstudie har genomförts för att besvara studiens frågeställning. Studien metod har inneburit att systematiskt söka och sammanställa tidigare forskningslitteratur relevant till studiens ämnesområde. Studiens resultat visar att lokalhistoria främst används av lärare i historieundervisningen på grund av fyra olika syften. Det mest centrala syftet fyller dock en identitetsskapande funktion eftersom att lokalhistoria kan användas som ett medel och mål för att ge eleverna förutsättning att orientera och identifiera sig i det rådande samhället. Studiens resultat visar att lokalhistorisk undervisning oftast karaktäriseras som ett tematiserande arbete. Lokalhistoria är därför sällan regelbundna inslag i historieundervisningen. Studiens resultat visar att lokalhistoria kan ha betydelse för elevernas historiemedvetande eftersom att elevernas historiemedvetande kan aktiveras vid mötesplatser där den "lilla" historien förenas med den "stora" historien. Dock är det inte den lokalhistoriska kunskapen i sig som aktiverar elevernas historiemedvetande utan elevernas egna erfarenheter, insikter och förståelse för lokalhistorien. SO

    Authors: Thörnqvist, Linnea;

    Authors: Börjesson, Linus;

    I denna undersökning har jag studerat skrivna framställningar av idrottare till tre olympiska sommarspel. Mitt intresse var att se skillnader och mönster i hur idrottare med olika kön och/eller etnisk bakgrund framställs. Jag har utgått från tre olika olympiska spel. De olympiska spel som undersökts var London 1948, Mexico City 1968 och London 2012. I undersökningen har jag studerat olympiaböckerna för dessa tre spel. En olympiabok presenterar och sammanfattar hela olympiska spel. Den kommer ut tätt efter spelen och innehåller artiklar, sammanfattningar och statistik skrivna av flera olika författare. En mängd tidigare forskning har gjorts både i internationella och svenska undersökningar med studier om hur kvinnliga idrottare framställs, men också en del undersökningar som berör hur idrottarens etnicitet lett till framställningar med stereotyper och fördomar. Dessa tidigare undersökningar har främst använt sig av tidningar som källmaterial, men också av annan media som TV och internet. Ingen tidigare forskning om framställningar har gjorts på just olympiaböcker. Till undersökningen användes de tre teoretiska begreppen sexualisering, infantilisering och etnicitet. Kommentarer av en idrottares utseende (sexualisering) var vanligare att läsa 1948 i jämförelse med 1968 och 2012. Gemensamt för de tre undersökta åren var att beskrivningarna till de manliga idrottarna var inriktade på storlek på axlar, längd och typiska manliga kännetecken. Ett annat mönster som kunde ses var att när kvinnliga idrottares utseende kommenterades 1968 och 2012 var i stort sett alla kommentarer riktade till idrottare inom gymnastiken. I undersökningen går det att utläsa att stereotyper och fördomar i referat för idrottare från andra delar av världen (etnicitet) förekommer 1948 och 1968, men är så gott som helt borta 2012. Av dessa referat och kommentarer var en majoritet riktade mot manliga idrottare och inte kvinnliga. I undersökningen kunde jag också utläsa ett mönster när det gäller nedsättande ord om idrottare i form av beteckningar som används för barn (infantilisering). Dessa ord är i stort sett bara riktade mot de kvinnliga idrottarna i alla de tre undersökta åren, och av dessa är större delen i samband med idrottare inom kategorin simning.

    Authors: Bengtsson, Fanny;
